  1. Nice. Need to try them out on some fat coal fired bass

I have seen the robotic evolution in the automotive industry. Looking at the industry now, compared to where it started is amazing. I spent 28 years installing and programming robotic assembly lines. At first every move a robot made had to be programmed. If any thing changed ,someone had to reprogram the robot. That was usually me. The biggest advancement in robotics I have seen, was 3D cameras and lasers. That gave robots vision with depth perception. At that point a basic program could be installed and the robot could adjust from there. It's only a matter of time before the programmer is no longer needed. Since I am now retired, someone else will be involved in that. I will just go fishing.
  3. Local lake after this weekends snowstorm. unfortunately one of the few Lakes around here that is closed to fishing in the winter. All I can do is enjoy the view and wait for first weekend of march.
  4. They are about the same boat only difference is z185 is rated for 150 hp, it is a foot longer and a lot heavier. I pushed both of them around on the cabelas floor. The 175 was much easier to move around by myself. That was a big issue for me with a suburbia garage and I usually fish alone. Plus the largest lake I fish is 10,000 acres. Most are much smaller. I have the 4 stroke mercury pro xs 115. It will run 48-49 mph. I switched from the factory 24 pitch fury prop to a 23 pitch tempest prop. It gave me 2 mph and brought wot to 5800 rpm. It also has a lot more low end power. Talked to a guy that has the 185 he gets 52-53 mph. Mine burns a lot less gas. In my opinion the extra 4mph was not worth the extra cost. After 2 1/2 years, I still have no regrets.
  5. I keep them in the original bags. Lately I have used the small $10.00 Wal-Mart soft sided coolers. I remove the hard plastic insert. They hold quite a few bags of soft plastics. I have one for each style of bait. Each cooler is a different color. They all fit nicely below the deck. You can buy tackle bags about the same size, but they cost more and don`t come in as many colors. Plus the coolers are waterproof.
  6. I was thinking about getting a new mold with the heavier sizes. the good swivels were about that price 35 years ago. I noticed the blades get pricey when you get to the bigger sizes. Its pricey, but if you look at a good Quality 1oz. spinnerbait they are up around $10.00 or more. Plus finding one with a single colorado blade is tough.
  7. Green pumpkin is a fickle color for me. Sometimes the fish won't leave it alone. other times it will not draw a strike. If it works the water is usually clear. I have had the best luck with baits that have black fleck.
  8. Used to make spinnerbaits, jigs, and road runners. 35 years ago. I sold them at fishing shows to support my tournament fishing. I was dirt poor back then. Got the old do it mold out of mothballs and poured a few spinnerbaits this year. surprisingly the components don't cost much more than they did back then. Ball bearing swivels used to be like buying gold. now they are fairly cheap. only problem is the largest cavity is 1/2 oz. would like to make some 1 oz. baits. Those are nice looking. I like the shape of the head.
  9. that could be possible. I always wondered if they don't feed them for a day or two. right after they stock trout at the local lake, people line up on the banks. it doesn't take long for most of them to get a 5 fish limit.
  10. I like the shoe analogy. it just feels awkward. Like you said it is now personal. I spent a lot of money on these things and sooner or later I will catch a big fish on one.
  11. That was a completely unexpected game. A lot of us thought the Colts were going to run over our defense. Just hoping they can keep the momentum going.
  12. Big swimbaits and glide baits. They look like they should catch big fish. Still waiting for a fish to take a sniff. One other for Black Bass is the blade bait. White bass won't leave them alone. I have only caught a few small black bass with them.
  13. around here stockers are usually pretty easy to catch. I see a lot of people using these on a drop shot for trout. they seem to catch their limit fairly quick.
  14. I don't even open these threads anymore. The great thing about bass resource is there are so many active threads.
  15. First home playoff win in 25 years, is something to be happy about. Maybe next week AFC champions.
  16. The Chiefs came to play today. Still in shock, over how well the defense shut down the Colts offense. hopefully they can do the same thing next Sunday.
  17. Are you sure there are any fish left in the pond? A couple local lakes here get trout stocked every spring. a couple weeks after stocking there are usually not many left. people catch them right when they are dumped out of the truck. I don't fish for them, but i have caught them on every bass lure imaginable. sometimes i have to move to a different area on the lake to get away from them.
  18. So do I. With the nasty weather we had here in KC last night it could be an interesting game.
  19. It was bound to happen eventually. Winter finally found Kansas. Glad I don't have tickets to the Chiefs/Colts game. Watching the game from home, works fine for me.
  20. I ended up making my own. my current mold does not go that heavy, so I just buy them unpainted on e-bay and assemble them myself. you can buy the blades, skirts, and swivels relatively cheap. plus you can customize them to your preference.
  21. is it 15 to 20 mph on your speedometer or graph/gps. in dash speedometers can be notoriously inaccurate. my last boat was a 16 foot mod v crestliner. It was similar to your boat. if I went any slower than 18 mph, on my gps, it would start to drop off plane. I just did not drive it under that, if I wanted to be on plane. if you are at 45 degrees, it is not on plane. like @slonezp mentioned you have to get on plane first. Then you should be able to back off the speed. When it starts dropping, that is your lower limit. If all else fails, out of the 2 options, I would add a hydrofoil. I would not add weight to your bow. It will negatively affect how your boat performs, if you run into rough water.
  22. After reading this, I was surprised that someone actually had the nerve to return a 36 year old rod, for a lifetime warranty. I personally would be too embarrassed to even try it. Sorry to say, you are probably the subject of many jokes in the customer service office.
  23. If the outlet was the same temp as the dam, I assume they are not generating power.
  24. If you are referring to shawnee county lake in topeka,Lakemaster card for hummingbird has it, so does navionics. You have to buy the chip either way. I have both. I prefer lakemaster, but it does not cover the power plant lakes or Olathe.
