Can we create a new BR Rule?
some threads are designed to never die. Post a photo a day. For us Kc area guys. show off your stuff. so y'all want to learn Toledo Bend are just a few. New members see this and probably figure all old threads are fair game. If I see a zombie thread opened, I explain it is outdated and replies may be minimal.

is there any Ice left on the lake?

Daiwa MAGFORCE -Z Braking System : Spool Tension Knob Relationship ?
they are one of the easiest reels to set. A little side to side play. put the magnetic brake in the middle and it should be real close. I love my garcias, but the brakes on a diawa are much easier to set.

Daiwa MAGFORCE -Z Braking System : Spool Tension Knob Relationship ?
the magforce z works different than normal centrifugal or magnetic brake. the magforce z is centrifugal. the faster the spool spins the more magnetic brake there is. while I do use the lure drop method for setting my garcias. It does not work well with the mag force z. the magforce z works best with a loose spool.

Daiwa MAGFORCE -Z Braking System : Spool Tension Knob Relationship ?
With my tatula magforce z brake, I set the tension loose enough so there is just a little side to side play on the spool. then leave it there. the only adjustment I make is on the magnetic brake. According to the wind and lure weight. Most of the time the brake is set at 10 or in the middle. Once set I can cast with little to no thumb pressure.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I hit La Cygne today. 15 mph wind from the west , made the lake pretty rough. Ended up riding waves most of the morning. The bite was slow for me. Caught a couple small bass, a couple catfish, and a dozen white bass. Nothing was big enough to be picture worthy. Was still nice to be on the water in January with just a light jacket.

Butt Seat, Chair, Nothing
I was thinking the same thing. It may be hard to run the trolling motor while straddling the seat. It would not be the first thing I bought, that did not work like I wanted.

Butt Seat, Chair, Nothing
Me too. It is $67.95 on E-BAY.

Best micro sd chip for my lowrance hds carbon 7
it depends on the waters you are fishing. you need to check if the lakes you fish are mapped with each chip. Navionics covers nearly every body of water. the proprietary chips like lakemaster for hummingbird or lake insight for lowrance usually have better deifinition, but do not always cover every body of water. i have a couple humming bird helix 7's. I have both lakemaster and Navionics. I prefer Lakemaster, but some of the lakes I fish are not covered.

ANOTHER 18 DEGREES
Today in Kansas City the sun rose at 7:37 at 119 degrees southeast. Going fishing tomorrow because there is no way I am waiting until march.?

Jerkbait rod recommendations
Doesn't make much sense, stamping it as received damaged, then delivering it anyway.

crankbait rod for jerkbaits
You can, but for me a 7 ft. Is too long. I am 6ft. 2in. Tall I prefer a 6ft. 6in. Or 6ft 10in max. 2 to 6 inches shorter doesn't sound like much, but Any longer and my rod tip slaps the water.

Trials of buying that first boat
Congratulations. No better way to seal the deal than raising your cholesterol a few points at a waffle house.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
first trip of 2019. in spite of losing 2 nice bass, I managed to catch a few. biggest one I got in the boat was 3 pounds. Caught it on a jig. white bass would not leave the crankbait alone.

Texas Rig Rods?! Medium vs MH
Action depends on who made the rod. I have a Dobyns fury medium heavy fast action 733c and a kastking speed demon pro medium fast action 7 ft 3in jig worm rod. They have almost the same action. I use both of them for Texas rig.

same fish?
Not trying to high jack the thread, but I think I caught one of its relatives. Mine had a forktail. Any ideas on what would be taking bites out of these fish?

Was in a bad accident
good to hear you are getting better. hopefully recovery will be speedy.

Butt Seat, Chair, Nothing
I stand 99 percent of the time. If the water gets rough I will get the butt seat out, to keep from falling out of the boat. Bill Dance has used a chair for as long as I have watched him. he seems to catch plenty of fish.

Don't Eat the Fish from the Historic James River
that sucks. unfortunately polluted waters are an ongoing problem everywhere. here in the Midwest, nitrates and mercury are a problem. the fish advisories are about the same as in the article you posted, on nearly every body of water here.

Jerkbait help.
well you succeeded. this one is 8 years old? My mistake. It is 9 years old.

Master Angler White Bass
Sharp gill Plates and fins. Plus they never give up. More than once, I have had an aggressive white bass stick a treble hook in my hand, while trying to free it. Usually a day of white bass fishing leaves my hands raw and bleeding. They do make good fish tacos. Like @Bluebasser86 said, they are usually reserved for days when black bass will not play.

Hollow Body Frog Set Up
The faster ratio works best for me, when frogging. It should cast fine. 50lb braid is about the same diameter as most 12 pound mono. Plus it has no memory. The torque argument in my opinion is ridiculous. You fight fish with the rod. Not the reel. For me,the only time reel torque makes a difference is with big lipped deep diving crankbaits. The lower ratio takes strain off of your hand and wrist.

Small Ratio Reels
My bad. I thought it was a baitcaster. depending on the reel size a 5 to 1 spinning reel will bring in just as much line as a 6.3 to 1 baitcaster. All but 2 of my 2000 size spinning reels are only 5.2 to 1. they bring in around 25 IPT . my 6.3 to 1 baitcasters bring in around 26 IPT. not much of a difference.

Whopper Plopper - Rear hook snags bass
i have had it happen on smaller fish. Just part of using those large treble hooks. generally larger fish inhale it. I personally would not get rid of the rear treble. if it were not for the rear treble I would not have caught this guy.
