  1. Nice. I have to ask, what is a Citation.
  2. 20 years ago there were not many reels faster than that. We still caught a lot of fish. i personally no longer own anything under 6.3 to 1. generally the lower gear ratios are used for deep diving crankbaits. you can crank all day without wearing your wrist and hand out. I don't do a lot of deep cranking on Kansas stained lakes, so I no longer had the need for the slower ratios.
  3. direct tv will give you the outdoor channel a la carte for $8.00.
  4. i had a 12 foot boat similar to that. a 36 inch bottom is fairly narrow. You would be able to stand , but I would stay down on the floor. Generally you need at least a 48 inch wide bottom to be able to comfortably fish from a deck. It all depends on how well you can distribute your weight. I have a Kayak that is built for standing, but it gets tippy if I am not careful. the more weight you put in the boat the less stable it becomes. with a max weight capacity, of 380 lbs.,it will get tippy if you have much gear with you.
  5. One more round in the smoker. This time it was Venison Polska Kielbasa. I am having fishing withdrawal. Supposed to be fairly nice Friday, and I have a few free hours. Time to catch a 2019 Bass.
  6. I use them a lot in the summer. I have tried other brand creature baits and the full size brush hog. The baby brush hog out fishes all of them.
  7. Sams club had fresh turkeys on sale yesterday, so I fired up the smoker today.
  8. Belly weighted fluke. 7 pound 11 ounces. It is the fish in my profile picture
  9. I grew up fishing southern Iowa farm ponds. 40 years ago keeping a 4 to 5 pound bass was expected. We caught fish to take home and eat. It wasn't much different than hunting small game. I was not introduced to catch and release until I started fishing tournaments, in my early twenties.

I tried a red dot and a reflex on my 10/22. Did not like either one. I ended up with this Simmons scope. Surprisingly nice for the price. https://www.amazon.com/Simmons-511039-Matte-Black-Riflescope/dp/B000KOSB34/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1546302445&sr=8-1&keywords=simmons+scope+22+mag
  11. I agree with everyone else. With that being said, since you are fishing from bank, skipping is another technique that can get your bait in a few more places. For a combo of pitching and skipping, a Diawa tatula with the sv spool is hard to beat. You can usually get a good deal on e-bay.
  12. They aren' free here. Cabelas is asking just shy of $9.00. Seems a bit pricey for a weird shaped Spinnerbait with a plastic ball instead of stamped blades.

Stopped by Kansas City Kansas Cabelas today. Not much left for Cabelas brand baits anymore. Bass pro brands now dominate the aisles. I guess it doesn't make sense to carry 2 different house brands. What little that is left is on sale.
  14. I bought a KastKing speed demon pro Jerkbait rod about a month ago. very impressed with the action.
  15. Like most have already said it is personal preference. I am 6 foot 2 inches tall. I do not personally own a rod under 6 foot 6 inches or over 7 foot 3 inches. most of mine are 6 foot 10 inches or 7 foot. That seems to be my sweet spot.
  16. I usually chase Coyotes if the water is hard.It is good exercise and gets me out of the house. Don't get many coyotes, but getting one to come into a call is a rush. I do not ice fish. I hate walking on ice and don't have the patience to sit over a hole for hours.
  17. bought one a t Cabelas a month ago. tried at at La Cygne and snagged it on the second cast. got it free and lost it on the fourth cast. it probably works, but I would only use it in open water. It does not swim nose down like a Crankbait. The angle it swims at digs the treble hook into anything it touches.
  18. You should be able to cruise up to about 3 mph with that setup. First thing. Is the prop spinning? Sounds like the trolling motor may be wore out

funny thing is, someone is buying them, or they would not make them. Whatever floats your boat. Some people will spend a ridiculous amount on golf clubs. Personally It does not matter what clubs I use, most of the balls either end up in the rough or water hazard. Maybe that is why I fish.
  20. I own 2 older mach speed spools. They are usually sitting in the rod locker, as spares. I don't have any problems with them. They are just cheaper reels with relatively crappy brakes. To me they are comparable to an Abu silver max. Functional, but not much fun to use. My tatula's, revos, and speed demon pro's are much better reels.
  21. I used to just lay the spool on its side and watch for twist while filling the spinning reels. If twist would start occurring I would flip the spool for a couple turns. On a wild hair I bought one of these spooling devices. Mine was a cheap piscifun off of amazon. I will have to say they work great if setup correctly. I now get near zero twist on my spinning reels
  22. I never win anything. After receiving the winning e-mail, I was expecting a hat, koozie, or keychain. Blew me away when UPS dropped off one of their top tier rods.
  23. I agree. currently have a 7 SI in the console and a 7 DI up front. they work fine, but it would be a lot easier to see the down imaging up front if it was bigger.
  24. Just watched a Christmas story and could not help myself. I did not win the leg. Actually I entered KastKing's holiday gift giveaway and received an e-mail stating I won a prize. Today a Speed demon pro crankbait rod was delivered to my door. I put my spare Tatula loaded with 12 pound Flouorokote line on it and proceeded playing around in the yard. It is a very nice rod. It will see a lot of action, throwing rattle traps. Can't wait to try it out. Ironically I almost bought this same rod a couple weeks ago, but decided to wait until after the holidays.
  25. Nice. I am still up in the air with the screwlocks. I lost a couple nice fish on screwlock shakykeads, this year. Not sure if that was the reason, but very seldom lose fish on non-screwlock jigs.
