  1. In the Spring and early Summer, around here, a wasp (Dirt Daubers) are building nests. Had a friend testing his motor one Spring, no water from tube. Sure enough, used small piece of wire and it was the Dirt Daubers ... skillet
  2. Glad for the confidence building day. Real good feeling to catch fish because of what you know and planned ... skillet

  4. One from the late 60's "Tonto's Expanding Headband"... skillet
  5. It happens! Went fishing with a friend several years ago and apparently he didn't lock it down :-/. Thankfully he had safety chains hooked... skillet
  6. Taking shape ,huh! It's looking good. Pics are nice... skillet BTW farmpond 1, depending on what kind of glue you use for the carpet, some of it won't stick to treated lumber

They really don't produce as many fish as other techniques but I sure like fishing them! X Raps and Rogues... skillet
  8. If you know their names, that might help. If not, maybe some pics... skillet
  9. Thanks! Never heard that about him... skillet
  10. I have Ultrasoft on baitcasters (12lb) and spinning gear (6lb). IMHO it's great on both. The Ultrasoft is more manageable than the Hybrid. Both do better with KVD line conditioner. Have never used Elite, can't give an opinion on the difference
  11. Well, if it is cheesy, paint me yellow and slice me up! Would like to have a pic of me and him myself. As far as being short, look at it the way that I look at being tall (6'4"). I'm not tall, the rest of the world is short ... skillet

  14. It started this afternoon here in SW TN! I don't even like it on Christmas cards >... skillet
  15. Fished small ponds and lakes most of the time and only carried 1 bc. Used original Stren 12lb for a loooong time and was satisfied. Changed over 2 years ago to 12lb Yo-Zuri Ultrasoft because of the stretch in mono. The Yo-Zuri is a copoly and IMHO is a pretty good compromise. With only 1 outfit give it a try ... skillet
  16. Sorry to hear about your problems. Went thru all that with my lower back years ago. Get a Dr. you trust and listen to him. Afterward, take your physical therapy seriously. Good Luck my friend... skillet
  17. Wanted to add to my reply. Skin hook 'em and you don't have to go thru so much plastic... skillet
  18. You are amazing, my friend ... skillet
  19. I always figured it was probably a freight train anyway... skillet
  20. I had always used original Stren 12lb and finally decided to change. Wanted to get rid of some of the stretch in mono. Tried 12lb P-line CXX. Couldn't believe how strong it was. Bend Gammi hooks before it breaks . Personally, I thought it had memory problems, looked like a slinky. I've heard if you drop down to 10lb, there's not nearly the memory. That small of a drop really shouldn't hurt the strength. Next, I tried Yo-Zuri Ultrasoft in 12lb. and it's GREAT. I use the 12lb on baitcasters and 6lb on spinning gear. Which ever co-poly you end up trying, you ought to try KVD line conditioner. It REALLY helps... skillet
  21. Like the fellas above me said, lots of different ways. I like them t-rigged weightless. Probably the top 2' of water. I use a 4/0 Gammi hook. I've caught some really nice fish this way... skillet
  22. Worked on different river systems for a number of years as a deckhand and then 1st Mate. Wait till you're the new man on the crew and know nothing about river work. Before you work your first lock the Captain calls you up to the wheelhouse and tells you to go out on the head of the tow and wait to get the key to the lock from the lockmaster ... skillet
  23. I bought a boat (35hp Merc) and was told it had sat for "several' years, nothing was mixed with the fuel. The fuel smelled funky, not as bad as some and worse than others. I was worried about carb work ($$$). Knew it had to have new batteries. I cleaned the tank, flushed filter and fuel lines. I shot some starter fluid in carb and crossed my fingers. It started right up. Sputtered and spit a little and then settled down to a smooth idle. Give it a try, nothing to lose... skillet
  24. I'm not sure if we would be talking about the same company or not. I bought an '84 Terry. This company was in LA not sure of the town. It's a 14' aluminum bass boat (casting decks front and back) and has a 35hp Merc. Have changed out all the ply and replaced the carpeting. Have to wait until Monday to buy stainless screws to finish it up. The motor seems to be in decent condition. Ran it in a 55gal drum. I'll have to wait and get it out in some water before I really know. Tried to factor in carb work when I was haggling the price. Would be GREAT if I don't need it. It's a small boat but I pretty much fish by myself. I've sure got some high hopes. Apparently it was outfitted by Starcraft and I don't think they do boats anymore... skillet
  25. Bassmaster Mag has a section for "antiques"... skillet
