  1. Like you said. I've caught bass while using them for bream. They tend to be smaller fish and there are better baits ... skillet
  2. No, no power tilt/trim ! It would be nice! I'll just have to play with it. Thanks for the HELP... skillet
  3. MAN!!! Did you get a deal or what ! Bought a boat last year with 35hp Merc. Didn't really know the guy and he told me it hadn't been run in "several" years :-/(no Sta-bil). It had a plastic tank, so no rust. I replaced gas in the tank, the filter and flushed gas the lines. Shot some starter fluid in the carb and it started right up. It idles great and torques real well. Will be ready soon to take it out and hope it doesn't leave me stranded somewhere on the backside of nowhere . At the minimum do those few things and keep your fingers crossed... skillet
  4. Bought an aluminum (small 14') bass boat last year and have been replacing the wood and carpet this Winter. It has a Merc 35hp that seems to be in really good condition (I hope, I hope, I hope ) I know that the angle that the motor sits at (in relation to transom) is important as far as performance. If too far in or out, what is the effect on the boat :-/? Thanks... skillet
  5. No secret, I REALLY like Shimano. I own a Symetre 2500 and have had no problems with it. Have landed nice fish with it and know the drag is smooth as all getout. Having said that. While in FL last year, met a guy that seemed to know what he is talking about. He was a Shimano fan until he started salt water fishing. He was of the opinion they didn't hold up well in salt. If you're going to use the reel in just fresh water, no problem (Symetre). If using it in both types of water, you might give this some thought ... skillet
  6. It's been a while since this was posted, someone wanted to know about battery powered drills. There were a number of replies, all good. This subject needs to be brought up every now and then. There is a world of knowledge between all of us and not just about fishing. All kinds of help just a keyboard away ... skillet

  14. Sounds like you started the year RIGHT! (Except, maybe for the cell ;D)... skillet
  15. I hold rod and palm the reel same as you. I am so right handed that I have a hard time scratching my arse with my left hand :-[. I guess out of necessity have learned to use jerk bait as well as walk-the-dog type baits with left hand... skillet
  16. There's been some great posts on the subject. If you need some just holler!!! skillet
  17. Thanks, my friends! (and I thought they made that black electric tape for covering up outlets to keep the electricity from running out :-[) I've already got the 6ga wire and a 50amp manual reset circuit breaker, that hooks up at the battery. The fella that runs the parts dept said the only time that Ranger goes larger is for a 24 or 36 volt system. My TM uses 43 amps and the boat is only a 14 1/2'. If the OCD kicks in I could run myself ragged thinking in circles and spend too much money. For what I'm working with, I think going any larger would just be overkill. Again, Thanks for your help ... skillet
  18. HAPPY BIRTHDAY young fella!!! Mine's coming up soon . At my age :PI think I'll have a wake this year. It'll be my 31st 29th birthday .... skillet
  19. I bought a Lightning Rod (not Shock series) for spinning. It's a MH 6' model. It was on close-out for $20. It's been a good rod (sensitive and decent backbone). Great rod for that price :! IMHO I don't think a ML would do for soft plastics... skillet
  20. Couple of weeks ago I started a post about what size wire needed for TM. Got some good answers and decided I needed no.6. Went to the closest Ranger dealership and the only plug-in for TM they sell has no.8 wire . Wouldn't this cancel out any good I did by pulling no.6 :-/... skillet
  21. If you've got the time, few tools and are just a little good with your hands you might think of trying it yourself... skillet

  24. Man! I feel for you my friend. I was talking to a neighbor today about this. Back in '91 we had a bad Ice Storm in Memphis and we were without power for about a week. Would really hate it if was without power that long and then hear on the news "could be several more weeks"! skillet
  25. Several weeks ago got something in the mail from BPS. At first thought I had won something and then realized it was an upgrade on my rewards card. Anyone that spends X amount of money at BPS gets upgraded to a "PREFERRED" card. At least I got some free points. SWMBO didn't realize what it was . Thankfully... skillet
