  1. I know my karma will get me for this, but...something you pull behind your vehicle ...Just had to say it before some other butt wipe. Pretty much any soft plastic could be used with a jig or T-rigged as a trailer. Usually with spinnerbaits the smaller more slender worms or grubs are used... skillet
  2. Just got a boat here lately, have been fishing ponds and small lakes for REALLY long time (still love it). Sam replied with a great list. The only thing I could disagree with was number of rods. I would stay with 2, 1 spinning and 1 BC. Most of my bank fishing involved LOTS of underbrush . Two was sometimes hard enough to deal with. With more I spent so much of the time with blood pressure above safe limits, no fun ... skillet
  3. Don't know if they ever listen to anyone not lining their pocket with something . This is something that negatively affects us all. Count me in... skillet
  4. I've had that problem off and on and it wasn't the exercise itself, it was the sweating. I don't perspire, I SWEAT. Lose large amounts of potassium through the sweating. Now, I start eating bananas and oranges. It helps. Another old wives tale, put bar of Dial soap under bottom sheet at the foot of the bed. Have heard it really helps some folks :-/. Haven't had to go that far myself. Good Luck with the problem... skillet
  5. Haven't used the hybrid so really can't make a comparison. I use US 6# on spinning gear and 12# on my bait casters and REALLY like it for both types of rigs... skillet
  6. Fished lots (and LOTS) of ponds and small lakes from the bank. Caught my PB (7/15) from the bank. Would like to put my vote in for learning T-rigged plastics first... skillet
  7. Just wanted to add this. When you're reading the articles, keep a few notes on the things that really interest you. That way you can post specific questions and get better answers ... skillet
  8. Probably not the best member to answer this (trying to learn crank baits myself). There is the old saying "if you're not getting hung-up, you're not fishing in the right places". Baits with coffin or square bills come through heavy cover best... skillet
  9. skillet replied to Raul's topic in Fishing Tackle
"You already HAVE everything made, just look in one of your sheds...." detroit1 That doesn't mean he couldn't use a few dozen more of his favorites ... skillet
  10. Show you how my thoughts run . First thing I thought of was "SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! THIS IS NOT THAT KIND OF WEBSITE!!!" ... skillet
  11. Question for those of you that know more about this than me (probably most everyone :-[). The new additives that they are coming out with (new Stabil, Startron and others), will they help? My motor is an '84 Merc. Am I gonna just have to take it out back and shoot it to take it out of it's misery or what :'(... skillet
  12. Personally, have never pegged a T-rig. Go to jig and trailer... skillet
  13. "better having and not needing than needing and not having" MAN! I like that! I don't feel nearly so bad about all those lures I have that have never seen water :-[... skillet
  14. There was another post on EWG's and someone brought up the idea about the eye being right in line with the sinker etc. etc. I started thinking about it and it sure made a lot of sense. The only thing is...I didn't start using EWG's until I read about them here. Maybe it's the power of suggestion or something :-/ but I feel my hook-up rate got better after using them... skillet
  15. Would have to say mid-summer is my least favorite and the rest is gravy... skillet
  16. Years ago when fishing with my Daddy, it was one of the best parts of the trip! All the different sights, sounds and smells was GREAT. The characters you would meet and see was something else. Getting real hard to find these days ... skillet
  17. Possibly favorite bait to T-rig. Green pumpkin has caught a lot of fish for me (including PB 7/15) ... skillet
  18. Coolest people on this planet...older Ladies. Be sure and wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY for me... skillet
  19. Not only no but H l NO! It's like I stuck fork into a 220 wall outlet (without letting it show) !!! skillet
  20. Sam pretty much hit the nail on the head with his reply. Sounds like you're sure headed in the right direction (4lb fish, fish on with 4 out of 5 casts) . Most baits can be fished any number of different ways. Rapalas can be twitched and jerked with pauses in between. Jigs can be crawled, hopped or swam back when retrieved. Most techniques are pretty much personal preference. Take the time the time to get familiar with one before moving on to another. Good Luck ... skillet
  21. A fish tape (electricians use them) would be a lot better. If you can't borrow one from a friend, they have short ones at Lowe's or Home Depot... skillet BTW GREAT answers for Burley ;D ;D ;D
  22. Make sure it's a manual reset... skillet
  23. Crazy about jerk baits myself (hard and soft). Smithwick Rogue was the first hard jerk bait I tried. Really liked 'em and used them for a while. They come in some great colors. Next, tried X-Raps and that's what I use now. Have never bought one that didn't suspend just right. Can't say that about Rogues. Without spending more money you're using the best ... skillet
  24. I fish T-rigged plastics way more than jigs but here's my take on it. Fish (to me) seem to hold a jig a little bit more than they will t-rigged plastics :-/. If you can stand the suspense, hold off on the hook set for just an instant. If you start hooking up more often you've hit the nail on the head. Bream don't seem to bother a jig and trailer as much as they do T-rigs but it's real possible that is what you are feeling. Time your hook sets in both directions, maybe this will help figure out your problem. Hope this helps ... skillet
