  1. Got to go there once and didn't catch a lot but did get to catch a 6lb. It was the largest I've caught on spinning gear. Found out how smooth the drag was on my Symetre ;D. It was one of those times you REALLY remember. There really are some hogs in that lake. Stocked with Fla. strain bass. Sure hope to go back soon! Tell your friend CONGRATS!!! As Ever, skillet
  2. Glad someone is getting to fish! My Honey-Do List grew by leaps and bounds a couple of weeks ago and have been busier than a 3-legged Tom cat in a litter box . The weather here in the mid-South is pretty much the same as what you're getting. Almost like work to go fishing... As Ever, skillet BTW Glad the shad bait is working so well for you
  3. Do a lot of fishing from the bank. Have always used short rods (5'6"-6'). Just lately bought a 6'6" and really like it. Annnnyyyway, I have no problem using a 5'6" baitcaster (pistol grip) for Spooks, Devil's Horse or hard jerkbaits. Actually used to use one for everything for years ... As Ever, skillet
  4. Haven't tried them that way. IMHO sometimes there is no right or wrong, just what works for you ... As Ever, skillet
  5. There's a pond near me that I like to take lite equiptment to. Never any Hogs, still FUN though ... As Ever, skillet
  6. I took the other road, always used plastics. Good and bad! Catch fish with plastics but don't have lot of experience with hard baits. Glad you're building confidence with the plastics ... As Ever, skillet
  7. MAN! It's great when you find a pond like that! As far as the LUCK thing goes. IMHO when you get to a certain level of experience and knowledge, luck plays less and less of a factor. Personally, I still depend on it a LOT !!! As Ever, skillet

  9. With those different types of cover and such, I'd try different plastics, jig and trailer and maybe some cranks. WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet

  14. Uhhh....Uhhh....You were gone? :-/....Where did you go? :-/.... You smelly 3 day old piece of cut bait SURE GLAD YOU'RE BACK!!!! Nobody flies off the handle and heads for the North 40 like you. Sure missed you ... As Ever, skillet
  15. MB with just the lower GI they don't put you to sleep. The only Saving Grace with the colonoscopy is one minute you're talking to the nurse, the next she says "go to sleep" and then you wake-up with that "mellow" feeling we mentioned ;D... As Ever skillet
  16. A lot funnier since I had it done 3 weeks ago! They have a preparation that is quite a bit easier on you (getting it down anyway). The outcome (used that word on purpose) was pretty much the same. If you have ever had the chance to go thru a bout of Ho Che Minh's Revenge, it doesn't come even close to this. After it was all over my Dr. told me that I was so cleaned out I might not have a BM for a while. "A while", my commode never saw my backside for 2 weeks. Don't know about you but for an hour after I woke up it was like the scene in "Blazing Saddles" where the guys are sitting around the campfire (only louder). I was so "mellow" I actually asked one of the nurses to "pull my finger". She told me in a really dry voice she "had heard that one before". All joking aside friends, they removed 3 polyps and 1 was precancerous. Found early and removed everything is OK. If you're over 50 talk to your Dr... As Ever, skillet

  23. "Greenish Clear" Clearer the water, I tend to try more natural colors, Watermelon Seed or Green Pumkin for plastics and for hard baits maybe Baby Bass or TN Shad... As Ever, skillet
  24. IMHO it is well "worth the headache to fish with a baitcaster"! WELCOME to the forums!!! As Ever, skillet
  25. This might come under the heading of "any soft plastic" :-/. Have had good results using weightless Zoom Super Flukes (Watermelon Seed) ... As Ever, skillet
