What would you do?
I think you can find some very well taken care of G. Loomis GLX's if you're patient. In my opinion, people who have high end rods in the $400-500 MSRP taken very good care of them. So look for a GLX in the $300-$350 range in 9/10 condition.

Need a spinning rod under $60
KastKing Perigee II 6'7" M/F spinning rod, $59.99 from Amazon. I have this rod and it's a paired with a Penn Battle II 2000. It should pair great with the President 30, which I also have on 6'6 Cabela's tourney trail, which is also a nice rod.

TOPWATER COMBO
Does the mono core make it stay "straight" near the lure tie so reduce the chance of hooks snagging on the line?

When I lived in Balmer and went to all the beer festivals there, I would always look for Constantine's greek food truck.

Rico on Baitcaster
I throw it with frequency on my dedicated popper set up: Lew's Custom Plus Speed Stick LCPTWS 6'8 ML/F 10" handle 1/8-1/2oz https://www.lews.com/rods/customplus Daiwa Zillion SV TWS 6.3 Tension knob is barely tight, just enough to make the spool not clatter when casting. Mag dial is usually around 5-6 with the Rico. This set up goes a good distance for the Rico.

Faulty Drag On Daiwa Tatula SV TWS?
This is clearly how to test drag:

Faulty Drag On Daiwa Tatula SV TWS?
- New tatula rods and reels
Wow - I just read up on the solid graphite tip top on those 6'10 M/XF's, yeah I'd be hesitant pushing 1oz too. I have the 7' M/XF and I don't think it has the same tip, but I'll check when I get home for the extra wraps. Love that rod for weightless plastics though.- Winter Snow and Ice Storm Weekend of the 12th
Went to the grocery store last night, they had all their pallets out ready to stock up the shelves. No doubt they're sold out of all milk, toilet paper today....for 1" of snow.- Was given a few reels, help me do some maintenance/upgrades.
Do you live on Drury Lane???- Faulty Drag On Daiwa Tatula SV TWS?
Yep, should be barely noticeable. He said fair bit and makes a clicky noise too. That seems abnormal.- The Curse of Oak Island
From their website: An ominous legend says that seven people must die in pursuit of the treasure before Oak Island will reveal her secrets. So far, the body count stands at six.- Have you got a lure you refuse to give up on?
Same - except, my dad will throw it, catch a 4lber, and I'll get nothing. I'm pretty sure I'm working it too fast.- Faulty Drag On Daiwa Tatula SV TWS?
Definitely not supposed to do that. Opening the drag stack shouldn't be too difficult, a pencil pusher like me can do it. Give it a try.- Upgrading bushings to bearings
I personally prefer the bushings. If any bit of dirt gets into those bearings, I can feel that little bit of crunching as the handle turns and I can't stand that. So then it goes to maintenance and I remove/soak/clean/relube the bearings. Performance wise, if you're sitting there spinning the knobs, yeah the bearings are going to spin faster/longer than bushings, but on the water...that doesn't happen. So can I have your old bushings.- Faulty Drag On Daiwa Tatula SV TWS?
You mean push/pull inward/outward into the reel on the handle? There shouldn't be that much play and it shouldn't make a clicking noise. There's a stack of washers held down by a nut that threads onto the main shaft. Maybe that's loose if you're getting inward/outward play and affecting the compression on the drag. I'm not a rea(e)l expert though. (couldn't resist the chance to insert that pun) Here's the schematic, the nut I'm talking about is #88. http://www.daiwa.com/us/service/manuals/image/baitcasting/TASV103H_300HS_300XS.pdf Otherwise, the reel has a 1 year warranty and send it back in for service.- What do you use to clean crud from reels and rod guides?
What do you guys use to clean out the smaller guides at the top of the rods, or microguides? I feel like the Q-tip isn't getting far enough in for those. Pull off some cotton? Edit: thinking of using something like this: https://smile.amazon.com/2-75,Long-Cleanroom-Electronics-Printhead-Automotive/dp/B07JKTN63V/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1547226484&sr=8-18&keywords=small+foam+swab- For those who smoke meat
I used to soak, but I don't anymore. https://amazingribs.com/more-technique-and-science/more-cooking-science/myth-soak-your-wood-first I pre-heat, then put the wood and meat on at the same time. I want it to start smoking right away, then add more as I go.- New tatula rods and reels
I have the TDZ 7' MXB, and it has a soft tip, even though it's XF. Looking at the new spider Tatulas, I don't see anything comparable. But the OG Tatula has a 610 M/XF with a lure range of 3/32-1oz. I haven't handled it, but that may be one to consider. I bought the 6'9 ML/R for jerkbaits but found the action too parabolic for my desires. Edit: I find the new tatula casting line up pretty unimpressive in terms of variety, everything is 1/4oz and up.- Labeling Your Fishing Rods/Reels With Line Size?
Like those weirdo golfers who use the same shaft length!- Labeling Your Fishing Rods/Reels With Line Size?
Make an aftermarket version, sell for $5/butt cap, and retire! - New tatula rods and reels
