OKAY: MY FAVORITE BANDS
Whether these claims are technically true or not, two Tennessee cities boast big claims: Memphis: "Home of the Blues and the Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll" Nashville: "Music City" I-40 between Memphis and Nashville is officially designated as the "Music Highway" 8-)

Lure weight on a rod
Well, for those without a decade or more under your belt, I would still recommend paying attention to the manufacture's guidelines. 8-)

Private vs. Public Lakes
Hmm... We have over 17,000 BassResource.com members and only a very small portion have ever caught a 10 lb bass. Most guys would be pretty excited to "catch 6 to 10 lb bass all day". As a matter-of-fact, I don't know anyone that wouldn't like an outing like that! :

If you could have...
Either a Pointer 100 (MS American Shad) or Sammy 128 (Aurora Black which is blue & silver). 8-)

Rage tail anaconda?
No, I don't think so...but it doesn't hurt! I think "attractants" or scent can make a fish hold the bait a little longer and in the case of MegaStrike, acts as a lubricant. JJ's is too messy for me to carry, so I pre-soak a few baits and put them into a heavy, resealable package (Yamamoto or NetBaits). MegaStrike, on the otherhand, is very user friendly and that's my #1 recommendation. 8-)

Rage tail anaconda?
Well, it's not good to dispute the owner/ inventor of a bait, but I find the 10" Anaconda to be a "big bass" lure. Big O says they catch smaller fish, too. When Ike visited Memphis I fished the Anaconda and picked up the three smallest fish I have caught on the bait (4, 3 and a 2). Otherwise, all the bass I have caught fishing this plastic have been 5 and better. If you don't have the patience for few bites and slow fishing this isn't for you. If you're after the biggest bass in the water you fish, then you have found the winning ticket! I fish the Anaconda just like a big worm: Let it settle and sit for at least a minute, then lift the bait to about 10:00 and fall straight down on semi-slack line. Repeat, lifting the lure to 12:00 then let it sit again for at least thirty seconds, I leave it alone longer. All my bites have been while resting or on initial movement, I have not caught a fish on the fall or steady retrieve. Gear: Heavy Power/ Fast Action baitcaster; Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12; Gamakatsu 5/0 Offset Round Bend Hook; 1/4 oz bullet weight, unpegged; JJ's Magic or MegaStrike scent. 8-)

hybrid question
The original Hybrid is stiffer, but if you are using KVD Line & Lure Conditioner, you will find the line very manageable. For spinning tackle I find the #4 and #6 work well. On baitcasting gear, #12. Ultra Soft is targeted for spinning tackle and is noticably limp compared to original. In use, the line performs much like braid: virtually no memory! However, initially the line will have some coiling as a result of being stored on your spool. After a few casts this will disappear. Good luck, I think you will like both versions. 8-)

Lure weight on a rod
You will still have trouble. Light lures don't load up well on heavy rods.

WHAT A BUNCH OF MORROOONS!
You mistook them: That was one of your PA Senators and two Representatives! da 'portant guys were testifying today. The other 44 United States Senators and the entire House of Representatives had the day off. Got to get ready for adjournment!

Line Snapping
"When casting" is a result of weak spots in the line, probably from backlashes. We have another thread running on this issue: Weak spots appear as kinks which should be cut off and thrown away. 8-)

Rods for around $50 to $60
You don't need anymore rods, fish what you have. Cheap equipment is not an advantage. Add quality gear over time, it lasts a lifetime and makes fishing more fun! 8-)

Line Snapping
Hmm... Set your drag with a scale to 25-30% of breaking strength, within the parameters of the rod. Gemnerally, I would suggest around three pounds. I fish Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft. I have never been broken off by a fish: Spinning tackle: #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test) Baitcasting gear: Ultra Soft #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test) 8-)

strip pit and fish size question
The pond is overpopulated and you have a few bigger bass from an earlier year class. The rest of the bass are going to be small and stunted. The chances of this situation improving on a strip pit pond are slim. Enjoy it while it lasts. p.s. If this is public property, contact the DNR and maybe they will help. 8-)

The new Curado E 7 VERY SWEEEEEEET!
And they did it for nearly twice the price. I'm guessing this reel will turn out to be the all time "Shimano Classic". I suspect the response to Abba Dabba Do is direct... Ain't it fun when companies actually have to compete. 8-)
