Stringing line
Your line will slip and you will be unable to retrieve lures or fish. So, yes, it will effect your fishing. Spool on about 30% mono and you will have plenty of braid to use. 8-)

Is this a good rod and reel?
For an "all-around" combination, my recommendation is 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action. 8-)

Thunderstorms & Tournaments
Got caught at the Pickwick Dam last summer. We knew we couldn't make it to the ramp so we holed up in a barge lock. We were surrounded by concrete walls on three side, at least 50' tall with light poles and such on top. It seemed we might be protected, but we were just making the best of a bad situation. For a little more than an hour a humongus thunderhead stalled over the boat, with torrential rain, lightening and jaw rattling thunder. We sat on the floor and waited out the storm. This was a life-threatening situation that I hope we never repeat. When I see lightening on the horizon, I'm on full alert. When I can hear thunder, I'm gone. :

Yo-Zuri
In use, Hybrid Ultra Soft has virtually no memory. This line is ideal for spinning tackle. #6 is .010" diameter, 11.9 lb test. However, I think you will find that #4 and #6 original Hybrid works, too. For $4.88, give it a shot! I have been using #12 Ultra Soft on baitcasting equipment, but I think you will find the original very manageable on casting gear. For the price, I decided to buy a couple of spools, too! 8-)

So XM 175 replays old baseball games in the AM
I am reminded of a locally owed Memphis radio station that created a niche for itself. As the station's popularity exploded, it got noticed. One of the networks offered the owners too much money to turn down and the company was sold. During the transition, the soon to be unemployeed turned the station into "Top Hits of 18th Century". Classical music without interruption. Maybe that works in a different market, but not in Haggard country! :

Fishing line color prefrence?
Original Hybrid: Clear water: Green Stained water: Smoke (smoke purple) If your water is always "stained" green because of suspended algae, I would probably opt for green line. These lines blend very well and are virtually invisible. In snmaller diameters, the "clear" resembles a pure fluorocarbon, but tends to stands out in larger diameters. Hybrid Ultra Soft: Green is always the better choice, but I have some "clear" (white) which works just fine. Going forward, I will buy green. 8-)

Or #6 Yo-Zuri original Hybrid, Ultra Soft or just about any line with the proper drag setting. 8-)

Wow! I guess you don't need a lecture, but stories about fish breaking a line is my #1 pet peeve.

Fishing the same heavy pressured places every year....
Well, Lake Fork is the most pressured lake I have ever fished and there seems to be no impact on the fishing. Everyone uses most of the same stuff year after year, yet the lake still produces numbers and size for thousands of fishermen. 8-)
