I fish the 6" Slug-Go to make it look like a feeding minnow. The lure produces nice fish in certain situations, but it has never produced big bass for me. However, when big bass are buried in the lilly pads, this just might be the ticket! 8-)
  2. Cold has no effect on the line. The problem, I suspect, was the initial coiling from being stored on your reel. Hybrid Ultra Soft has very little memory "in use", but will still coil when stored. KVD Line & Lure treatment will help, but the best solution is to troll the line. After a few casts, the memory will fade. 8-)
  3. I experimented with the Triple Fish Fluorocarbon a couple of years ago. I spooled up some #4 for a trout trip and found that it broke easily by hand! I lost all confidence in the line and never fished the line or some other #6 I had purchased. The line was unfishable and I threw it away. p.s. I tried to visit their website to see if X Rated is a different line, but their website is down. Wassup with that? >
  4. This is my third season fishing the line and I still haven't found anything I like better. I plan to keep experimenting on a couple of rigs as new lines are introduced. We'll see, but for now I am very pleased with Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. 8-)
  5. I had the original and it sucked. Randall (guide and "Big Bass Man" from Georgia) has the newer version and really likes the reel. If you decide to buy one, please post a review after you have fished it awhile. 8-)

  10. Man, this has become a GREAT thread. To all contributors, thanks you! 8-)
  11. Fish cover, structure and transition that seems "fishy" to you. We have lots of great information in "Fishing Articles" at the top of this page and a current thread running on "finding fish". Unless a fish is within casting distance or jumps in the same area a number of times, it's probably not worth your time to chase them around. 8-)
  12. Hmm... I think you might have something there. :
  13. I rarely use a hook that big. To me a 4/0 and a 5/0 are HUGE. I use 1/0-3/0. If I go bigger to 4/0 or 5/0 it is because I am using a Fat Ika or a 10 inch rubberworm or fishing for turtles! Well, I don't fish anything smaller than a Fat Ika except for an occasional 3 1/2" tube when targeting smallmouth. Tubing or fishing grubs for brownies is about the only time I use a 3/0 EWG. I use the 5/0 EWG Round Bend for 7" Senkos, big worms and Micro Munch Tackle Fat Tony. Big bass prefer big baits! 8-)
  14. Welcome aboard! That's a fine fish. 8-)

  17. Pickwick is a big lake with a lot of shoreline that looks great! However, 90% of the fish are found in 10% of the lake. You may find the right spot, but most people don't. The local guides know the lake. If you just want to "fish" there's plenty of water to do just that, but if you are interested in "catching" I highly recommend hiring a guide. 8-)
  18. Braid for sure, Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft almost! 8-)
