  1. Cooking can be fun, it is for me! Here are a couple of suggestions to get started: 1. Buy a Betty Crocker Cookbook 2. Read through a recipe before starting 3. Measure ingrediants precisely 4. Start with something that interests you, manly and not too complicated. Meatloaf with mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans and rolls; chili; ham & beans with cornbread, that kind of stuff. You will be surprized, chicks dig it! Good luck! 8-)
  2. ;D ;D ;D ;D CONGRATULATIONS! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-)
  3. You'll be catching up soon. I've been 39 for about 17 years. 8-)
  4. When you own a lure for five years that you have NEVER gotten around to using, but you pick up another because it "looks fishy". :
  5. Well, I know guys that are quite good at skipping with a baitcaster. I watched flechero when we fished together last year at Lake Fork. For him, it seemed second nature. For me it would be challenging. I fish all soft plastics with spinning tackle and with this equipment am "reasonably" adept at the technique. There is no reason for me to change and no particular reason for you, either! 8-)
  6. Buzz words and phrases to avoid: "out fishes live bait 3 to 1" "should (may be) banned in tournaments" "one of the greatest lures bass fishing has ever seen" :
  7. EVERYTHING works in the spring, but this might help you build your tackle collection: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1143177139 8-)
  8. David, YOU are revered as OUR expert. I for one appreciate being "corrected". The things some of us do or think get ingrained over time. Thank you! -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior 8-)
  9. Nope. As far as I know you have to order them direct from our very own Graig DeFronzo (BassResource author and member): http://micromunchjigs.homestead.com/Directory.html I also fish his jigs. 8-)
  10. My first cast is always long and away from where I want to fish. Before "fishing" I want to be sure my equipment is tip-top. Oddly, I occasionally catch a fish on the first cast, more often than you might think!
  11. DING! DING! DING! I believe we have a winner! 8-)
  12. Cajuns are tough! 8-)
  13. That would be a BIG no-no for me. When fishing for smallmouth, the bite is often a reaction strike, but with largemouth it's more often "feeding" or purely inquisitive. Some of my biggest bass caught on tubes have been picked up when the lure is sitting. (Originally the Gitzit was designed as a "do nothing" lure). Scent and texture are VERY important attributes of soft plastics, especially tubes. As alternatives, I recommend Micro Munch Tackle El Gordo, Mizmo Big Boys for largemouth and 3 1/2" Mizmos for smallmouth (Kent's Clasic, squash green). 8-)
  14. Hawgin, I guess I have seen exactly what was said or your response, so maybe I'll edit this post later...But, aside from whatever that issue is...You are a great contributor to this Forum and would be missed. Stick around, the Depends can't afford any defections, we're outnumbered by the Diapers! 8-)

  16. I fish them as a jig trailer, never naked. 8-)
  17. Wassup with bringing back a six month old thread? Let's see some new stuff. >
  18. Hmm... Seems to me we have gotten some pretty good advise from a few guys that ACTUALLY know something, don't you think? 8-)
  19. No. NEVER use guides for anything but what they are intended for: managing line. If possible, store your equiment indoors so it won't get stolen or be subject to any weather related issues. Reel your line all the way in and release all drag and brakes. Some say to remove reels, but I don't. Store rods in an upright position or if horizontal, minimize flex. 8-)
  20. ;D ;D ;D ;D EXCELLENT! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-)
  21. ;D ;D ;D WOW! ;D ;D ;D Sounds GREAT! 8-)
  22. Well, it's Valentines Day and as my wife often tells me, "You need to get in touch with your feminine side". 8-)
  23. There is a difference between 'pound test' and 'break strength'. http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/ProdLine/HybridLineChart.htm Even Yo-Zuri lists their lines according to the 'pound test'. In my readings, it seems that 'pound test' refers to the maximum weight that can be applied to a line without stretching to the point of deformation/alteration. True. Let me just say, I have NEVER been broken off by a fish using Yo-Zuri line, but I can still break these lines when I need to (hung up). For me, this is the Perfect Combination! 8-)
