  1. Can't wait to hear Hot Dawg's reaction! Great fish, BEE-U-TEE-FULL pics!
  2. Well, I actually use #4 on my smallmouth rig. The 7-7 I caught on the RoadTrip last spring was on #4. The particular reel is a Stella 2500FE. I have #4 spooled on two other reels, including a Symetre 500FJ. I like it!
  3. "Not only did the smoke feel much better but bubble wrapped $30 reels with the handle sticking out felt better too." Okay, that puts it in perspective and a smile on my face. That's pretty funny. Touche! Back to the OP, "some" guys really like the reel. You might, too.
  4. That really surprises me. Were they all caught on The Rig?
  5. Okay...I'm all ears...What's the real story?
  6. I'm glad you are having a ball!
  7. Pretty harsh for someone who has only briefly handled an in-store demo. I have fished 00 Mod's reel a little and a CI4 I helped a friend buy in Alabama. Just playing with the reel below Wilson Dam I "accidentally" caught a small striper, +/- 12 lbs. I thought the reel performed as well as my Stella. I was (am) very impressed with the CI4.
  8. I fish a swim jig as an alternative to a spinnerbait. One advantage is getting through thick cover. Most of my swim jigs are 3/8oz, but I use 1/2 oz with the Keitech Swing Impact Fat. I fish both Seibert Outdoors and NorthStar. Trailers include the Rage Tail Single Tail Grub, the back half of a GYCB Swimming Senko, LFT Live Magic Shad and my new favorite, Rage Tail Menace . The gear is G.Loomis MBR842C/ Core 50MG/ Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 Hookset is a "snap set". Unlike a regular jig where the strike can be subtle, swim jig strikes are violent, just like a spinnerbait bite.
  9. The CI4 would be an excellent choice.
  10. Seems like these guys would have a better handle on your stuff. -Kent
  11. Once again...Atlanta can't win the Big Game. 13-3 plus a play-off game...Kinda tough on the fans. Like being a Peyton Manning Fan.
  12. Here ya go: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/110991-stcroix-avids/
  13. All electronics or tackle, too?
  14. Pinnacle Perfecta: DHC5-701CAMH Medium Heavy/Casting Shimano Curado 50E7 The rod is $160 and the reel can be found for ~$125-$135
  15. Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6, .010" diameter, 11.9 lb breaking strength. If your water is generally stained, I recommend "Purple Smoke"; for gin clear water, "Green".
  16. After 5 pages I think everyone has had an opportunity to comment. Let's move on, this thread is closed. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  17. I think it's a unique material discovered by accident. It's more of a plastic ribbon. After the novelty wore off, the line lost most of it's following. Original Fusion is still available, but Berkley has since introduced Fusion Braid. I am fishing a spool. The line is round and slick.
  18. These are some of the stickiest hooks around. The unique outbarb hooks grab ahold of any fish slapping or bumping at the bait'. Here is an excerpt from TackleTour reviewing the Megabass Vision 110: Each Vision comes equipped with three Katsuage hooks which are specially designed for jerkbaits where anglers often draw quick strikes. Two of the outside Katsuage hooks feature barbs on the outside of the hook, and the center treble has no barbs at all. What this essentially does is drive either the front or rear hook in combination with the center hook into the fish creating an anchor point so that fish cannot easily dislodge the lure. Once the fish is in the boat it is easier to remove the lure because the center treble can slide out without the resistance of a barb, allowing you to work on the remaining Katsuage treble.
  19. BPS carries them, too.
  20. Good luck to your Falcons, but they have ABSOLUTELY no chance of beating the GIANTS today. Maybe a shot at the 49ers.
  21. You are probably right, but if the state placed a bounty of $100 on them and no licensing restrictions, I suspect a lot of the problem could be eliminated. If they teamed up with a boot maker the prize might be increased or the cost to Florida reduced. Another idea is a more organized hunt. I'm thinking along the lines of pheasant hunting. Large groups of men with blockers taking out a section at a time. Seems to me with just a little imagination this project could be fun!
  22. I'm not clear on this point. Do you mean they never attack baitfish from above?
  23. Try the Magic Eraser first, it's probably all you need.
  24. Buy two Avids and get one Rage for free.
