WOO-HOO! Man, that's great!

I bought two from Mike McClelland at The Bass Univerity event in Nashville. I haven't fished them yet, but they look great in my pool! I think they have a lot of potential. 8-)

You have some very lucky children. For most families Disneyland or Disney World is a "Dream Trip". My kids are grown and still talk about those vacations! Enjoy the time you have with your kids. Twenty years from now you will wish you had it all to do over again. My baby girl graduates from college in May and is getting married in June. It seems like she just turned five a short while ago. They grow up fast. 8-)

I have a Dobyns Champion 683C. If you are looking for a split-grip, this is a great rod. It will work well for weightless soft plastics, but you will find it is exceptional for a variety of applications and techniques. Mine is saddled with a CH50MG. Another suggestion and perhaps my favorite rod is the G. Loomis MBR842C. I have the GLX which I purchased from someone on our Flea Market for $250 delivered! Mine is matched with a Core 50MG.

Well...I also have the IMX and it's a great rod, but I still prefer GLX. If you are patient and keep an eye on our Flea Market, you can probably pick up the GLX for $250-$275 or the IMX for $150 or so. I bought a couple at these prices (delivered) last year. 8-)

3" might be "universal". Silver Buddy, Gay Blade and single tail grubs on a jig head are the ultimate lures. Floating Rapala, Zara Puppy, and small crankbaits are other hard bait suggestions. The soft plastics that come to mind are Rage Tail Baby Craw, 5" Senko, Fat Ika, Kreature, 3" single tail grub and Slug-Go. Another finesse bait that has been killer for me is the Rage Tail 7" Thumper. 8-)

Baby Craw, 1/8 oz bullet weight and 1/0 Gamakatsu Offset Worm Hook or bait hook. 8-)

Long-term: Original bag Short-term: Plano Box I store baits in their original packages, but things I fish are kept in a Plano Box. Some of the stuff in the Plano are going on 5 years old or more! Some bags probably date back into the '90s. 8-)

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Although the rod could be used for almost every technique, mine was dedicated exclusively to jig fishing for the last 5 or 6 years. Since embracing Rage Tail soft plastics, I have started using the rod for weighted plastics, too. With either application this is the perfect equipment! 8-)

Most people prefer MHF, but I prefer spinning tackle, MF for weightless presentations. Specifically, St. Croix ES70MF. For weighed techniques I fish a baitcaster, HF, specifically, G.Loomis GLX MBR844C. 8-)

It's all about preference. When making a recommendation here at BassResource, I always say " 6 1/2" or 7' ". I have an Avid AVS66MLF and AVC66MF (for jerkbaits). All my other rods are 7' or longer. 8-)

You start your collection with one lure. Next year buy another. Start with a Lucky Craft Pointer, 100SP, MS American Shad. 8-)

Your new custom needs a new reel. Take the rod with you to a local store and see how it feels saddled with a CI4. I think you will be impressed! 8-)

Nice fish, great pic! So, what lures and baits are hot? It's all about square bill crankbaits right now on Pickwick. 8-)

Man, you're on a roll! Just because we have members that do catch DD, that doesn't mean they are common. I read somewhere that less than 5% of bass fishermen have caught a true 5 lb fish. As I recall, the average "fishing hours" required is over 100. Your recent catches are remarkable. Congratulations!

I agree. this will save you money in the long run if you every upgrade. I have found that to be the cause in my life, from Benelli Shotguns to GLX G. Loomis. Buy one of the best and buy it once. (until they come out with nrx ;D) Same here. I agree with these guys. 2X.. It's not only going to save you in the long run but you will enjoy it more. I am on the same page with these guys. You will look back in a couple of years and have a greater appreciation for the suggestions. Good luck! 8-)
