  1. I would recomend a used lews tournament pro or super duty (as long as you aren’t against a used reel)
  2. Right now I am a high schooler and fish constantly. Over the summer it is like 5+ hours a day, every day. For years I have invited people to go fishing and, while some of them kind of knew how, I pretty much thought them the basics of fishing. But when we go out, we like to have fun. I joke around, mess around, peg geese with frogs... and just have a good time. I have gotten so many people into fishing, it isn't like they are as passionate as me about it but they start getting into it and really enjoy going. Once I know someone is getting that fishing "bug" and it isn't a waste, I'll give them a cheep (yet decent) rod and a few lures. I have given away some ugly sticks and a silver max (some others that I can't remember as well). What I think it really comes down to is youth to invite other youth out. If it is an adult, no offense, many youth think of it being awkward, weird, or boring. What I do think adults can do is give youth fishing poles and talk to them about fishing, show them pictures of your latest catches and they will soon enough catch the bug. Just my .02 from what I've seen with people around my age.
  3. So how hard and expensive was it to set up? Did you have to drill a hole in your boat?
  4. I don't want to hijack the thread but can someone explain really quickly what you do about a bilge pump? I haven't really figured out a way to do that. If you had a deck on and everything how would you get the water to flow to the back? Is it necessary to have one? It seems like everything would kind of rot without one. What do you do about water getting in the hatches? Thanks!
  5. It looks like four of us are tied for 14th at 1,126 points...
  6. This is NOT mine. I found it on Craigslist and was really impressed. I have plans to either build or buy one this summer/fall when I move to Florida. The person who built this one was obviously very talented.
  7. My friend got one and replaced it right away due to it being heavy and not really fishing well. I've tried it and honestly hated it. I highly recommend a St. Croix panfish series or trout series. I have a 6' or 6'6" trout series and it is extremely light and sensitive. The other thing you could do is if you have a Scheels near you (I see you live in midwest...) is buy their house brand ultralight rod. I believe it is like $70 and is really similar to my St. Croix. Not to mention they have really good warranties. That is what my friend replaced his Micro Lite with.
  8. My thoughts exactly
  9. My thoughts are that if I want to try out a $5 lure I am just going to buy it. If I were to try out a $100 swim-bait I would buy one because I don't want to be responsible another persons lure of that cost. However with rods and reels, if I could rent them with little hassle and they have nice quality stuff then I might be willing to do it. Unfortunately, if people are renting it, they aren't going to care for it as much as they should. At that point I would be worried about dealing with either a junky rod/reel, or someone else breaking it a little and me finishing it and having to pay for it. For example if someone rented a rod and chipped/dented it but it wasn't visible and I went out and broke it on a fish then I am responsible for paying for it even though I am not at fault.
  10. I know this is a fishing forum but if anybody is interested, Walmart had a ton of hunting/camo stuff on sale near me (including guns).
  11. That’s a steal!
  12. only a few reply’s but maybe it will be a little help
  13. I’m still questioning your line choice...??
  14. I don't have a boat so I'm not much help but have you thought about a boat like this? Just seems a little better all around especially if the grandkids ever wanna wakeboard or tube or something.
  15. One time I was fishing with someone and they set their rod down for a minute and looked away (I can't remember why) and something pulled it off the bank into the water. I think it was probably a catfish or something judging by the speed that rod took off, it was long gone...
  16. Welcome to the forum!!!
  17. Like @ohboyitsrobby, I am pretty much winging it...
  18. I am also gonna say Carolina rig with a soft jerkbait (fluke). I would also recomend a Ned rig.
  19. 5” senko for sure. Go with green pumpkin black flake and either wacky or Texas rig it (you can look it up if you don’t know what either of those are). Good luck!
  20. I have to go with a Shimano Sienna, hard to beat at the price.
  21. Nice! I dig that pattern!
  22. Nice to see someone different in the lead! Congrats to your team!
