Reel on a crank bait rod
I have to agree with tander on this. I also use a Lews BB1 in a 5 to 1 gear ratio. I use Sufix Siege mono in 12 pound test. I like the idea of a slow speed reel instead of using a high speed and trying to force myself to reel slower.

Can someone recommend a good coupler trailer and hitch lock?
I keep mine in the garage too. I just wish I had a garage the size of yours.

Top water bite = ???
If I am throwing a topwater bait it is usually a popper or a walking bait. Once in a while I throw a buzzbait. I usually throw them in areas too shallow for a crankbait or around cover that would get anything else hung up. I rarely throw a top water and stay with it for more than a few minutes unless it is what i'm getting most of my bites on.

Fishing lures
The BPS stick-o baits are a good stick bait and not real expensive. They have them in many colors and several different lengths.

Can someone recommend a good coupler trailer and hitch lock?
I use a standard master padlock on my trailer and have not had any problems with it. A guy I know works for a locksmith company and that is what he recommended to use instead of a specialty trailer lock.

Shy Bass.....
If the fish are seeing the same lures and colors over and over again they seem to be conditioned to avoid them. This is when trying something completely different can make a difference.

Jig?
I usually match my trailer to the jig color. I think it looks more natural.
