  1. I didn't have any spinning equipment until about 20 years ago. I am probably 90% bait casting and 10% spinning. I went fishing today. Had two spinning rods with me but I never took them out of the rod box.
  2. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  3. I use 12# Sufix Siege for everything but Texas rigs and jigs. This is the best mono I have ever tried and I plan to stay with it.
  4. The small tackle shops do have one advantage. I have gone to our local tackle shop and asked them if they could get me something they didn't stock. They will check with the suppliers and if they have it I will get it in just a few days. You won't get that kind of service at the big box stores.
  5. I try to support small shops as much as possible. Sometimes you have to go to a bigger shop to get what you're looking for.
  6. Seeing @Mobasser post about buying a car from an individual reminded me of this. One time we bought a car from a dealer. When I called the insurance company to let know about this they asked if I bought from a dealer or an individual? They said if I bought it from an individual they would have to send someone out to inspect it before they would insure it. The only time any insurance company ever told me that. One time we were buying a vehicle and going through the paperwork. We always have vehicles in both our names. They already had my drivers license info. When they asked to see my wifes license I asked why. They said it was now a state law you couldn't have your name on a car title if you didn't have a license.
  7. I did a test drive on an El Camino back in the 70s. Left the dealer that night after I decided it wasn't what I wanted. The next night the salesman called me and asked when I was coming to pick it up. I hadn't signed any paper work and told him I wasn't buying it. He was not happy when that conversation ended. I did buy a Ford F150 from Carmax one time. They were new in town and I had not dealt with them before. I had them bring the truck in from another state so I could check it out. It was what I wanted. Good condition and low miles. They made so many mistakes on this deal I should have walked away. Needles to say I will never deal with them again.

  10. We are in a drought here too. Heard tonight on tv we've only had .32" of rain in the last 30 days.

  13. I'm using some kind of firm pillow from Wal Mart. My wife bought a My Pillow several years ago at Wal Mart and hated it. The foam filling would get piled up together and it felt like you were sleeping on rocks.
  14. I am on Losartan for BP and Lovastatin for cholesterol. Been on both of them for quite a few years. So far everything seems to be okay. I go in once every six months for blood work. The doctor will make any changes to my meds then if need be.

    The old style bumper jack.
  16. i have several pistol grip rods. Some of them were used this past week. I will take them over these rods with super long handles any day.
  17. I have never timed a bass to see how long they would hold a bait. I remember many years ago I was fishing with a worm and it just didn't feel quite right. I got it back to the boat and a bass was holding on to it just behind the hook. It let go as soon as it got to the boat.
  18. Prayers sent for you, your dad, and all the family.
  19. I put all new LED trailer lights and wiring on my trailer two years ago. I still unplug my lights before I put the boat in. I plug them up when the boat comes out and check them before I leave. I got mine at Academy. I think the whole kit was around $50.00.
  20. My luck is about like @A-Jay. The only thing I can catch fish on is either a Mepps spinner or soft plastics. The so called hot baits like square bills, spinnerbaits, and topwaters have been worthless. Went the other day and caught two small LMB and one striper on a Mepps and one small LMB on soft plastic.
  21. I am not in a hot bed for bass fishing, at least in my area Some lakes farther away are pretty good. I remember back in the mid 90s B.A.S.S. sent 16 pros in here to fish three lakes in three days. I went to one the weigh ins. After seeing what they did I didn't feel bad about my fishing at all. One of them even said if he had to fish this part of the country on the pro tour he would quit.
  22. I guess now @TnRiver46 is going to take back all the bad things he has said about spinnerbaits. Now the bait monkey will be sending him out to buy a bunch more of them.
  23. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  24. I guess I am a little ahead of @TnRiver46 . I have caught a lot of LMB on spinnerbaits in my years of fishing. The only SMB I've ever caught on a spinnerbait I caught two this year on an inline spinner.
  25. I'm like @Bankbeater. I have always have cash on me. I don't use plastic if I don't have to. I am really old school in that I have never used an ATM.
