Usually in bed around 11:30. Get up a couple of times to go to the bathroom. Then up when I wake up. Most days around 6:30 or 7:00.

Our local newspaper had the story about Academy opening up here. It said this is one of 9 new stores they are planning to open. It did not say where the others would be located.

These were not marked for clearance. The one I bought was a CRM model and paid $4.49 for it. These were still in the old packaging. I looked at Academys website today. It shows a lot baits out of stock even in the store here. I don't think they sold out of all those baits in one day. I really didn'y notice anything about Rapala or Strike King being eliminated.

We had our first Academy store in town open up today. The official grand opening is to be this Friday. I went out there this morning to check them out. The had a pretty good selection of H2O baits. I bought one in a bluegill color and a pack of Zoom Z Craw Jr.

I have been using a Lansky sharpening kit and had very good luck with it. I have some of the diamond sharpeners in my kit. I can sharpen a knife on the old whet stones if I need to. I use an old belt for stropping. What is the compound you put on a belt and where is it available?

About an hours drive is the most I will go for a few hours fishing. Have several places a little closer but not my favorite places to fish. The longest trip I ever made was about 450 miles and spent two days fishing Lake Norman. We were staying with some friends down there.

I like the Bandits, Academy H2O baits, and the Norman Middle N and Baby N, and Deep Baby N. Zoom Baby Brush Hog, Ultra Vibe Speed Craw, and Ultra Vibe Speed Worm.

The sale of lottery tickets here are supposed to be going to support education but you would never know it the way the school boards keep raising our property taxes.

I'm not going to worry about it. I will be too old to be able to go fishing if I live that long.

Had a high of 93 yesterday and 75 today. Supposed to get down in the low to mid 40s tonight and a high around 70 tomorrow.

I don't know how other states do it but here the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife receives no money from the state. It is funded by the sale of hunting and fishing licenses and boat licenses. I think they get some money from the sales of hunting and fishing equipment.

Here we have to buy a license every year. At 65 the seniors license is $12 but it includes a trout permit, deer and turkey hunting permits. I was able to get mine for $5 for a couple years before they raised the price. I will be 71 in about 6 weeks. They don't have a lifetime license here.

I was using a Black Fury size 3 yellow dot with a dressed treble when I caught those fish. I caught a lot of fish on the old Shyster and Toni spinnerbaits back in the 60s and 70s. I quit using inline spinner when I bought some Rooster Tails. I can not catch a fish on them so I just never tried any others until now. I'm glad I did. I also bought the white dot and an orange dot to try.

I would go with the War Eagle Screamin Eagle or their Finesse spinnerbait.

@Mobasser has posted several threads about Mepps spinners in the last few months. I finally decided to buy a few and try them out. Finally got to go fishing in a creek today. I had caught one LMB on a Crazy Legs Chigger Craw. I finally decided to switch and throw a Mepps spinner. On the first cast I caught a 16" 2# SMB. That is the first SMB I have caught in 3 or 4 years. I realize that isn't a big fish for a lot of you but for me that doesn't get to fish that often It made me feel good. Made a few more casts and caught another smaller one. The bite died out after that. I did catch a couple more smaller ones later on. Guess now the Bait Monkey will try to get me to go buy some more of them. Wonder how well the LMB like them?

Bomber is one of several lure companies bought out by Pradco several years ago. When they buy a company you can count on them ruining the brand. They will take away a lot of colors cheapen the manufacturing process usually raise the prices.

I catch most LMB fishing around wood lay downs or stumps. It is usually better if there is rock around.

The Lews BB1 is rated at 21 IPT. The lews Tournament MP in 5.6:1 is also good at 23 IPT. I think the BB1 has been discontinued but you can still find them .

There was a police officer shot here last night answering a call. Police were able to return fire and wounded the shooter He died later at a hospital. The officer is okay and has been released from the hospital. So far we've had 34 murders here this year. We had 37 last year so we will probably set a new record this year.
