  1. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  2. I wonder what happened to @Gundog and @lo n slo. Haven't seen anything from either one for a long time.
  3. I finally bought some swing head jigs to try out this year.
  4. I try to take care of mine and not get them beat up. The only time mine are in the rod box is when I am fishing. I store mine inside in the basement when I get back home. I do use rod socks but I have never used any reel covers.
  5. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  6. I have always rigged mine on shaky head. I catch one once in a while when I can remember to use them.
  7. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  8. I had to start using readers around my mid 50s. That is all I have ever used. Had cataract surgery on both eyes in 2021. I still have to use readers for close up stuff but I hardly ever use them when tying fishing knots. My distance vision is great. I use eye drop lubricant two or thee times a day for dry eye. I couldn't have handled trying contacts if I had ever needed them.
  9. I have days like that sometimes. You wouldn't believe how many times I've been using a bait with no luck and decide it is time to make a change and I will catch one on it. I still change it out to something else to see what will happen. Sometimes it helps and sometimes I have to make a bunch of changes to try to catch them.
  10. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  11. I caught two LMB from a lake I had fished three or four times before and never caught anything. Got them both on a bubble gum colored 4.25" Stik O.
  12. I didn't catch any really big ones worth bragging about. It is toss up for LMB. Either a Spro little John MD or a Zoom Z Craw Jr. Caught them both on the same day. Biggest SMB came on a Mepps Black Fury Spinner.
  13. Northern Largemouth Bass. Smallmouth Bass. Kentucky Spotted Bass.
  14. Hope everyone has a happy, healthy, and safe new year.
  15. They probably put it on there to so somebody wouldn't use for giving themselves a tongue piercing with it.
  16. I like the zippered ones. I don't have any Carhartt or any other super heavy or expensive ones. Depending on the temp I can wear a hoodie for warmth or put on my Carhartt jacket over it and I'm guaranteed to stay warm.
  17. I finally got to check with my sister about this. My brother in law was on the West Virginia. After he was blown off the ship he was still able to help some sailors that weren't good swimmers get to shore. He then ended up on the Tennessee. Better late than never with the info.
  18. I have several BPS shirts too.
  19. I have a brother and sister that both lost power for around two hours last night. There has been talk of doing rolling blackouts here. So far we have not lost power and I really don't want to have hook up a generator in this weather if possible.
  20. I have always been a dog person. When I was very young we lived out in the country and had dogs and cats. After we got married my wife has had one cat. That was the last one. Now due to my wife having allergy problems we aren't likely to have any more dogs or cats.
  21. Hope everyone has a merry Christmas and stays safe.
  22. It hit here last night. We had a low of -7 and a high of 0 with wind chills in the -20 to -30 range all day along with about 2" of snow with ice under it. With any luck they say we might get to 14 tomorrow. Going back to a comment @roadwarrior made about this in an earlier post, I wish I had a way to pack this mess up and send it to him and let him love every minute of it.
  23. I agree with you on that one. I had days with that color if you weren't catching anything you might as well go home. You weren't going to catch anything no matter what you tried.
  24. I had this happen to me this past year. Had been fishing for quite a while and caught a few small ones. I was using a crankbait rod at the time. I made a cast and for some reason the reel locked up as best I could tell and the sudden pull of the crankbait sent my setup in to the lake. I didn't have a backlash and the crankbait didn't hit anything in mid cast. The crankbait floated back up and I got it and pulled my setup back into the boat. That reel has now been retired and will be replaced.
