  1. I still have some 5'6" casting rods. I am fishing from a boat and I like to use them for topwater poppers and walking style baits. If they feel good to you go ahead and use them. Everybody uses what they are comfortable with.
  2. It has been determined you have more than enough fishing equipment now. You will send the money to me every three months and list it as a charitable donation.
  3. I use both. I may not use a spinning outfit every time I fish but I will get it out to use when conditions are tough. I've had days where I had to use a spinning setup to give my shoulder some relief.
  4. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  5. I have used several spincast reels. My Dad got me started fishing with a cane pole when I was around 6 or 7 years old. Later he got me my first rod and reel. It was a South Bend setup. Later I got a Zebco 606. I still have but it is in pretty rough shape. I had an old Johnson reel but it never cast as good as it should have. I have Zebco 33 that is about 25 years old. I let my wife use it. I bought her a couple of BPS spincasters to use and they have been very good reels. She has caught bass around 2.5 pounds on them. The biggest bass I can remember catching on one of these is probably 3.5 pounds.
  6. That is amazing. I never would have thought about something like that. Congratulations on the catches and the idea that put it all together.
  7. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  8. Usually fish mine on a Texas rig. I tough bite conditions I use a Zoom Centipede.
  9. Prayers sent for both families.
  10. Hello and welcome to the forum. There are plenty of people on here to help you with your rod choices.
  11. Hello and welcome to the forum. The bait monkey will soon be your new best friend.
  12. I have a few tungsten sinkers in 1/4 and 3/8 ounce weights. I don't use them very often due to the expense when you get hung up and lose them. I am still just as happy with lead sinkers.
  13. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  14. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  15. I have always used black or bronze hooks. I don't use red hooks at all. Once the finish wears off they are actually gold.
  16. I like the Zoom Fat Albert grubs in Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Seed, Rootbeer Pepper Green.
  17. Anything over 15MPH and I stay home. I have an older model Bass Tracker 175. Dealing with an aluminum boat and fish in strong wind is no fun for me.
  18. Welcome back to the forum.
  19. I don't worry about it. I have put sunscreen on while fishing. I can't tell it makes any difference. I do keep hand sanitizer in the boat to use when needed.
  20. If it still has a lot of greenery on it I probably wouldn't fish it. Saw a story a long time ago that fresh fallen trees could put out a lot of sap or other chemicals into the water which would run fish away from it. After it had died out I would fish the outside areas with a crankbait or spinnerbait. Then work my way in with a soft plastic or a jig.
  21. I have not tried Big Game line. Once I find something that works for me I tend to stay with it instead of trying different lines. 12# is the heaviest line I use. We can continue this discussion on another thread. WE need to help the OP with his problems.
  22. I have to disagree with you on this. I have not tried Sufix Advance. I have used Sufix Siege for years on baitcasters and spinning setups. I have never had a problem with it.
  23. Heard on the news golf courses around here will open up later this week. Only one person can be in a golf cart and tee times will be 15 minutes apart. I don't play cow pasture pool so it won't affect me.
  24. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  25. When you put line on your reel the spool needs to be in a vertical position mounted on some type of rod in a vise. The line needs to be coming off the bottom of the spool. Don't over fill your reel and after making a cast close the bail by hand. Glenn has a video on here about this. In the video section go to line, hooks, and weights. I twill be the 6th video. I don't know how to bring this link up to post it here.
