  1. I'll say your outfit should go well on limp 6lb mono line. Lures in the 1/8 oz range. Beetlespin, marabou or small tube jigs, Blakemore Road Runner etc. Live bait also. Good luck with your new combo.
  2. If your not fishing in a big tournament for big money, why horse the fish? Playing a bass is a big part of it for me. Let your rod/ reel do it's job, and enjoy a good fight.
  3. A well known Missouri angler Guido Hibdon, spoke of leading a bass away from cover into a safer area to land them. Get a good hook set, then keep steady, but not overbearing pressure on the fish to play them. Especially with spinning gear/ lighter lines this can work. I've had moderate success with this.
  4. It depends on the cover for me. Heavy cover, I try to get them out quicker. In more open water, I play them more. I like feeling the fight.
  5. Whenever I t rig a Zoom Trick worm, I always think about the Creme Scoundrel. If you lay the two side by side there's little difference. We t rigged a Scoundrel many years ago, and it worked well. T rigging a Zoom Trick worm is much the same. It works. They catch bass.
  6. Some guys like to snip off about 1/8" off the head of the trick worms, to have the sinker sit flush. But you don't have to do this. They catch fish either way.
  7. A-Jay, thank you sir!
  8. Caught a fish on a chatterbait
  9. You could get a rod from the Charlie Brewer Slider company. They're blue rod is 4'9 long, fast action, and rated for lines 4-12lb. Two handle styles, a Tennessee cork grip or traditional reel seat. Not a true ultralight, but cast light baits very well with 4 or 6lb lines. Around 65 dollars. I like the tape on Tennessee grip.
  10. I think this day was a huge eye opener for all of us. I imagine people felt the same in 1941, when Pearl Harbour was attacked. It was horrible. But like others have said, never forget this day, and always honor the fallen.
  11. A-Jay, I hope she continues to get better. She's obviously got a fighting spirit. Give her best wishes for a good recovery.
  12. I learned about this over the weekend. A neighbor claims this is an easy way to catch nightcrawlers. Get a stake about three ft long. Drive it into the ground about one ft. Cutting the end to a point makes this job quick. My neighbor uses a 2x2 stake. Get a metal bar, and rub it along the wooden stake. It works best at night. The sound produced replicates the sound of a hungry mole. If you've ever seen any trace of moles in your yard, it will work. The worms come to the surface to escape the hungry mole. Bring a flashlight to pick them up, and try some different spots in your yard. I can't verify this myself, but my neighbor hasn't bought nightcrawlers in years, and, he showed me a bunch he had in an old refrigerator he keeps in his garage. Crawlers are all he fishes with. I plan on trying this one of these nights. Has anyone else ever done any " worm grunting?"
  13. Good post A-Jay. Yes, we should never forget this date. The lives that were lost, and the many sacrifices that were made.
  14. My big limitation is crankbaits. I have a bunch I've bought over the years. I probably haven't cast one in five years. I got so tired of getting snagged.
  15. I would respool. Mono line is inexpensive, and is your connection to the fish.
  16. Don't even worry. Most bass have too many rods and reels. Bass guys are notorious for loving nice tackle, and buying more, even if they don't really need it.

There's a thread going now by Darth- Baiter on black baits. A lot of guys use them. Black lizard at night should work good. If your using a sharpie to color them, give them a shot of some fish attractant spray.

Sounds like a great retrieve. Your retrieve makes it easy for a bass to get. Just what you want.
  19. I've used size 1/0 with the 4.5 Roboworm, and 2/0 for the 6" size. I use the same size for t rig or drop shot.
  20. His intense dedication is one part of his success. He admits he goes days, or even weeks before he catches another ten pounder. This separates him from the average angler. He's dedicated to catching big fish, and his record proves it. I enjoyed the video also.
  21. Even if Kelces out, I'm saying Chiefs over Lions on Thursday night. Should be a good game. And true. Jones is drama
  22. I'm a big fan of all plastic worms. For the last few seasons, I've been using straight plastic worms because they come through weed cover a little better. What's your favourite worm style, and, how do you choose which style to cast?

A friend told me to drink one can of beer before I go to bed. Not great advise. One can turns in to two, two into three and so on. Before long your a drunk. I don't like being a sleepy head when I hit the lake at sunrise. I have my a annual checkup on Sept 15th. I'll ask my doctor what he recommends.
