  1. You could try both. Both are reasonably priced. The P line I'm using is P line CX Premium in 6lb. It's been strong, and handles good on a size 2000 reel. Very limber and easy spooling. I'm not sure of the exact diameter, but I believe it's thinner than Yo Zuri hybrid of the same size. I could be wrong though.
  2. I use Yo Zuri Hybrid 4 and 6lb on spin reels. Also trying out some P line in 6lb.
  3. I'm a Missouri homeboy. Born and raised
  4. Hello from Missouri. And welcome to Bass Resource
  5. The only tinted windows I like are on old hot rods. It looks good on old roadsters etc. But I wouldn't want it on my vehicles.
  6. Carpenter ants are like termites. I've read that carpenter ants follow termites, and destroy wood framing. I've repaired lots of damaged wood as a carpenter. Any area that gets wet or stays damp can attract them.
  7. For years I used Stren and Trilene with little problems. Now, I've switched to Co poly lines. Yo Zuri hybrid or P line. Both have worked well.
  8. I've done best with baits with a light color belly in bright sun. Night time, black. An example is the black jitterbug at night. It's caught scores of fish over the years.
  9. Wind from the south, puts the hook in they're mouth.

Virgil Ward was born in Easton Missouri in 1911. His family moved to Amsterdam Missouri when he was 11 years old. One of 9 children, he opened a plumbing supply company in the early 1950s. His family lived in a house behind the shop. In 1955 he started the Bass Buster lure company. His company patented the fiber weedgaurd, and helped popularize the marabou jig. They also marketed the famous Beetle Spin. He had many accomplishments in the fishing world. 1.1958 Regional Bass Winner. 2.1962 World Series Sport Fishing winner. 3.1964 National Fresh Water fishing champion. 4.Outdoor Writers National Tournament Champion. Many awards also. 1. Ozark Fishermans Hall of Fame. 2. National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. 3.Bass Fishing Hall of Fame. In 1963, he hosted the first syndicated fishing show, Championship Fishing. He hosted this show for 25 yrs, 21 of which earned the title of the #1 fishing show. His success influenced Al Linder to start a show. He pushed for catch and release very early, and was a huge conservationist. I grew up watching his show each week with my dad. Virgil always had a down home style. At the end of each show, he would go to an aquarium and demonstrate a lure, usually saying " well, they're still catching bass down on Table Rock with this Bass Buster jig.". Virgil Ward passed away quietly at his home in Amsterdam Mo in 2004. He fished up until one week before he passed on. He was 93 yrs old.
  12. In bright sun I've done better with some wind. Not much, but, a chop on the water can help. Overcast days the wind helps again, but not as much. .
  13. My mom put this candy out every year at Christmas time. Some had red jelly inside that I liked. Sweet tarts were always popular. One holloween we got some of the big solid ones. My neighbors mouth got so sore from eating one he couldn't eat for a whole day. Too much tart.
  14. I'm ready for fall. It's my favourite time of the year for fishing. After all the heat and humidity of summer, fall feels great. The scenery around the lake is an added bonus IMO. If I can time it right, the fishing can be good too. I've had some good days fishing in the fall. What's your favourite season for fishing?
  15. One of my favourites as a kid. I still have one on occasion. We got them at a small drugstore in Chillicothe Mo. The guy kept them refrigerated and cold.
  16. I'll say the Super Bowl.
  17. Outback Steakhouse. Last time we went there it was horrible. Won't go back.
  18. When I was working full time I ran a small carpentry crew. I couldn't take off because guys depended on me. I did come in late a few mornings so I could fish.
  19. This post reminds me of the guy that caught a huge bass on a chicken nugget. Sometimes, being lucky, and being in the right spot at the right time is where it's at.
  20. Catt, you got it. It was made by Guido's son Dion, as part of a high school science project.
  21. This is true, and come to think of it, I've never caught one single bass while sitting on my couch.
  22. Here's the question: What plastic bait was first made in a high school science class, and later helped win the Bass master Classic? The clue: it was made in Missouri.
  23. Folks catch bass on outlandish things, that don't imitate color, background, or anything sometimes. My lake doesn't have any pink worms in it, but, sometimes, bass hit pink worms. Other days, they're picky about what they want. I think only the bass know why.
  24. Usually bass that are near a shoreline like this will strike. I'd try casting parallel along the bank to your left and right. You'll cover more water this way, and keep your baits in the strike zone longer.
  25. Many years ago, there was a guy named Bo Dowden who won the Classic fishing jigs and pork trailers. I wanted to learn this, so I bought jigs, pork frogs etc. I probably made 500 cast. No matter what I did I couldn't catch bass on a jig. One day bank fishing I tied on a jig/ pig combo out of desperation. I cast to the side of a large blowdown and caught a bass- a small one. I've used them ever since, and seem to do best in the early season on jigs. But, guys catch fish on jigs year around. I would say keep at it. Bring jigs on every trip, and throw them along with your other stuff. One day, a bass will strike one.
