  1. While those of us married long enough have learned this... Sometimes the hard way.
  2. She Who Must Be Obeyed
  3. St Croix Victory - 6'10" ML/XF I've got the Mojo version of this and it's a great finesse rod...the Victory should be even better.
  4. The baitmonkey is always right.
  5. A lot of businesses make their money on 'incidentals. Early-mid 2000s I was assistant manager of a Super America...know what we made the highest % profit on? The coffee and pop dispensers.
  6. Get a charger that's rated for Lithium batteries. First choice would be a NOCO
  7. Zoom is stable, Russ. I've been using it for years and so has the wife. Never been hacked through that. Zoom is safer than ordering from TW.
  8. Welcome back to the fold, man. Ya - hey Dean...was kinda 'lonely' last winter...we doing something this year?
  9. I know that one of their air-boats is already stationed out here...saw it behind the Spring Park station last week.
  10. And the wackos have fully appeared. Last week at this time, Seton Lake (another in the Minnetonka chain) was open water...running an errand today I saw three separate groups out on the ice covering Seton.
  11. First number is the size - so it's a 9". Second number is the region the maps cover - 3 is US Inland waters.
  12. Given their issues...I wouldn't count on big sales from them. "The financial rating of Pure Fishing has been downgraded by Moody's Investment Services long-term ratings to a "Very High Risk" of default on corporate debt according to a report in Angling International and other outlets." https://www.theoutdoorwire.com/features/e389699d-ee0a-44c1-a377-24aec5ebe5fa
  13. ^ Being an electrical/electronics guy - that's exactly what to do. Coil the excess up and zip-tie it...make sure to leave it loose...don't make it tight.
  14. I'd love to see the status of fishing your side of The Pond, John. Looking forward to this.
  15. ^ This. The tip-top is integral to the casting ability of a rod. If the distance to the first guide is that short, remove the first guide and put an appropriate size tip-top on if you want to continue using the rod. Note that the action will change...it won't be an XF anymore.
  16. I've got several XPS Squarebills. They've held up to bouncing the bottom and off rocks for a few seasons now. Paint is a little scuffed but that's all.
  17. Bobber stop at the knot, bead above that...to mitigate the bead/weight knocking against the knot weakening it.
  18. This arrived yesterday - ya, another Digitaka purchase and the second of this reel model I now own.
  19. Wrong pressure treatment again This is what you're looking for - and it's only a 2'x4' piece for $24 https://www.lowes.com/pd/Unbranded-23-32-in-x-2-ft-x-4-ft-Pine-Sanded-Plywood/5001997945 Then use this to seal it - quart is more than enough for this project - $20 https://www.lowes.com/pd/Minwax-32-fl-oz-Satin-Oil-Based-Polyurethane/999914537
  20. If you want to spend the money - Marine Grade is 2x-3x the cost of BCX. BCX is sanded one side - used when only one side is visible ACX is sanded both sides - used when both sides are visible Marine Grade is treated ACX - not the pressure treatment that fence posts or other wood exposed to the elements, but a different process. Again - do not use standard pressure treated wood on an aluminum boat, even just the out-gassing fumes from the treatment will affect the aluminum Any bare wood treated with 2 coats of oil-based Spar Urethane is as well or even better protected than marine grade, for less cost...just some people don't want to spend the time treating the wood
  21. That's what I used for various techniques...before I got rid of all my WG weights. Look up how many times the WG plant has been cited for pollution, OSHA violations and other things...and they never really fix anything. Now I avoid WG like the plague.
  22. Nako skinny free-rig weight - https://www.amazon.com/nako-Density-Tungsten-Weights-Sinkers/dp/B09Z67XMG9?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1 Weight depends on the depth I'm fishing.
  23. And cheaper - get some 1/2" thick BCX (you don't need marine grade) and seal with oil based Spar Urethane before painting/carpeting. That's what the decks of Bass Trek are made of
  24. Couple ways around that - 1: E-mail the pic to yourself - most e-mail programs compress the pic before sending 2: Most phones allow you to edit the pic...one option is a re-size feature. I usually drop my pics from 3000x4000 to 900x1200 before posting. 3: Download to your PC/Laptop and use photo editing software to resize.
  25. Place I get my aluminum is Coremark - they can cut to specific size and ship it anywhere from either Minneapolis, MN or Fort Worth, TX. Their aluminum prices are even lower than big box stores like Home Depot, Lowes or Menards. https://www.coremarkmetals.com/aluminum
