  1. I miss Friendlies...the one on West Boyston in Greendale was within biking distance from our house...we'd go over often as kids.
  2. Ya - working part-time at a gas station in 1977 I think I was making $2.25 an hour.
  3. I've had a Daiwa CA-80 for a couple years now - it's been very sturdy and reliable. One of the lowest priced aluminum frame reels out there. Available in right or left hand, 6.3:1, 7.5:1 and 8.1:1 ratios. https://www.amazon.com/Daiwa-CA80HS-Profile-Baitcasting-Reel/dp/B07QW21DNR/ref=sr_1_2?crid=FJ01V7HXY0WX&keywords=daiwa+ca-80&qid=1705267493&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=daiwa+ca-80%2Csporting%2C108&sr=1-2

Hmmm....little problem using any of those here, Glenn
  5. Probably something he'd done every winter for 60 years. I just hope that such a 'high profile' incident will give warning to everyone else...but unfortunately, there's always idiots out there.
  6. Never used rattles.
  7. At least it's not like our blizzard of '91 First they predicted 2"-4" Then it went to 5"-9" Then it was 12"-15" Then they finally said "We don't know when it'll stop." We ended up with 28" in the Twin Cities.
  8. At least it's positive numbers. You stocked up on firewood, bread, milk and whiskey to get through your deep-freeze?
  9. Tonka is now socked in, but still too thin for major traffic. That might change soon as we'll stay below 0 until Tuesday...so good chance of the ice firming up.
  10. Welcome to Minnesota And of course, Alaska is warmer than us. Anchorage, Merrill Field Airport (PAMR)
  11. KVD left (was fired from?) Okuma and linked up with Lews. How's this any different? People/Sponsers change all the time...no biggie.
  12. Hunker on down, Kent. Get a fire going in the fireplace, snuggle up to your partner (or dog if there's no partner) and down that hot chocolate. We'll wait for you to emerge from TN's ice-age...
  13. I notice that Tank and Kya are keeping a close watch on Lynn....they know...
  14. Here's how I'd do it 1/2" diameter wood dowel, 6 each 2" lengths 6 each 1/4" x 2" Dowel screws....they look like this Drill a 3/16" hole 1" deep in one end of each dowel and use pliers to thread the dowel screws in. You'll mount 2 below and 2 above the handle; 1 above and 1 below where you want the bend in the rod to end. Dowels can be stained/painted to match the wall, you can even round the ends that stick out. 3/16" pilot holes in the wall where you want the dowels, then just hand-screw them in. This method doesn't 'destroy' the rod by putting screws through it - and better protects the cork and finish of the blank than the screw-hooks do.
  15. I just buy spool tamers - no, not the ones the fishing companies sell at 3 for $7-$8...these are 25 for $16. They're exactly the same, just labeled for crafting instead of fishing...amazing what 'dedicating' something for fishing does for your mark-up (and profit). https://www.amazon.com/Beadalon-25-Piece-Spool-Tamer-Set/dp/B00KAZ137Y/ref=sr_1_10?crid=ZC4L6A26QZC4&keywords=wire+tamer&qid=1705179883&sprefix=wire+tamer%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-10
  16. Meanwhile I'll be staring at the calendar hoping it'll speed up...120 days until bass opener.
  17. Might luck out - from calling the lawyer to getting my 'back-pay' check was 6 months.
  18. Only if you want to attract all the critters in the area to lick your driveway, Tommy.
  19. It's the fact that we had glorious weather through December and now they're saying that once we drop below 0 tonight, we'll stay below 0 through Tuesday.
  20. InvizX is the best I can afford on my budget and what I use as either mainline or leader on my spinning rigs. Though I'm trying another brand on a few of my casting rigs (don't hurt me) that was received as part of my Fish-Mass gift
  21. I made a run this morning to stock up on essentials...and we're not even getting lake-effect flurries here.
  22. Heck - half or more of them just have to look in a mirror to find a lawyer.
