  1. Actually - I did see one wheel-house on the ice on Tonka for about a week a bit ago. Wasn't a huge one, but still a 'towable'. Carman Bay - just south of where the Narrows Channel enters.
  2. And I'm different still - in Google put site:bassresource.com "MN Fisher" And it'll pull up all posts I made and anytime someone tagged/quoted me in their post. You can put anything you want between the quote marks. site:bassresource.com "MN Fisher spinning" narrows that down to any post that mentions spinning and you can just keep adding words ad-nausium.
  3. Good luck on the career change, Russ - I did it few times during my working time, sometimes it was a headache, other times it relieved the headaches.
  4. Neither does my 2001 Silverado...but I do have cigarette sockets This is the latest version of one I have and have used for years when I need 120v power on the road. 400-Watt Modified Sine Wave Inverter
  5. With the weather you're having, I'd almost expect some status reports on the state of ice on Menderchuck (any of them)
  6. What Orwell wrote about books in 1946 relates to the Internet today "In much more than nine cases out of ten the only objectively truthful criticism would be "This book is worthless ..." http://www.george-orwell.org/Confessions_of_a_Book_Reviewer/0.html Of course Sturgeon was much more succinct. "ninety percent of everything is crud" https://christopher-mckitterick.com/Sturgeon-Campbell/Sturgeons-Law.htm
  7. Same here - hull is rated to 30hp, but the 25hp I have on it pushes Bass Trek to over 20mph...plenty fast enough.
  8. Glenn hasn't posted any hard/fast rules about number of posts needed to clear you for the Flea Market...we just accept that it takes a bit of interaction so that the Mods are assured that you're not a 'sell and leave' type account.
  9. Need a certain number of quality posts...prevents people from dropping in just to sell stuff (this is a conversational forum, not a selling spot).
  10. I'll double down on that - other than 4 years in Omaha courtesy of the USAF - I've lived in MN since 1974 and this is the wackiest winter I can remember.
  11. I wish I had the money to afford an upper end PFD (*cough* Mustang Elite *cough*) - I got the best I could afford, and it does have good reviews and is used by many on the tours...so I'm in good company.
  12. Pretty much figure the Saturday of Mother's Day Weekend - so there's lots of lonely mom's that weekend.
  13. @Delaware Valley Tackle - Mike, exact same reasons I keep mine on. 14' boat on 14,000 acre lake with moron wake-boat pilots and inconsiderate fishing boats plowing by close to me at speed...despite having plenty of room to give me space.
  14. Any panfish (sunnies, crappie, perch) are fair targets...as are bullhead. Some of the lures I use for crappie/bluegill Rapala X-Rap 04 Rapala UL Shad 04 Z-Man Flashback Mini 1/8oz Creme Tiny Lipless cranks 1/10oz Then 1/8oz or less jigs with 1"-3" plastics suspended under a bobber are always a hit.
  15. Despite having suffered both heat stroke and heat exhaustion in the past - I'd rather be hot than dead.
  16. The SCs I got are lighter than my Dobyns and Okuma in the same price bracket....
  17. St Croix USE to list the rod weight....now they don't. Why remove a piece of data that some of us would like to have?
  18. Unfortunately it's not retroactive - older motors are still not required to have it if it wasn't included at time of purchase. Saying that - I retro-fitted one into the 25hp on Bass Trek...it's not a difficult upgrade, and it's less than $50 for all the parts needed.
  19. Pics or it didn't happen.
  20. Always wore it in the canoe And still always wear one even in Bass Trek
  21. Na - just a government worker. Wait...what? 🤣
  22. I'm at least gonna get the crappie rigs ready in the next couple weeks...I'm thinking my prediction for ice-out in A-Jay's thread is gonna be conservative.
  23. Unless we get open water before Feb 25 - season doesn't close until midnight of the 25th/26th
  24. When I took Sara out for her trips, she'd just stick her whole snout into snowbanks...searching for something I guess. Lab/Aussie Shepherd cross. 22 years since we lost her...and I still miss her.
  25. I can just imagine what Tank and Kya would look like brown instead of tan and cream. 😃
