  1. Some of us have no choice in this - but after 6 years being a 'one-eyed wonder', I've learned to compensate...mostly.
  2. Ya - if the weeds are to the top of the water...no treble hooks for me. Chatters, spinners, buzz if you want moving baits...they're all fairly weed-resistant. Otherwise it's T-Rigged plastics for pitching/punching
  3. This is another reason I don't do even local tourneys. When guys are out there with FFS, Livescope and Spotlock - and my finances restrict me to downscan with no maps on the sonar and bottom rung bow TM...it's not worth the time or money.
  4. Considering every station in the region gets it's gas from either Marathon or Flint Hills - logically they should all be at the same price. This variation is just price gouging IMO.
  5. Wait... We're suppose to be serious about this? Why wasn't I informed....
  6. The rod is fine - that reel is a really a 1000 size. If you're going to be using heavier line, even braid, on that rig - go with at LEAST a 35 if not 40. Also, Tom ( @WRB) is correct that heavier mono/FC on spinning reels isn't wise...30# braid, straight, on a Pflueger 35-40 size reel would be a much better choice. Note - I don't skip with casting gear, my skipping rig is a Okuma Reflexions MH/F rod, Supreme 30, and 20# Sufix 832. I could use that rig for frogs in open to semi-open water....but not in thicker 'slop'.
  7. Yep-yep Minnesota has two (2) refineries. Prices near me today... BP in Wayzata - $4.29 Holiday in Navarre - $4.09 Quick Trip in St Bonifacius - $3.99 They all get their gas from the same place - why the $0.30 range in price in a 6 mile circle?
  8. Not even when the 40,000 ton cruise ship the wife and I took our honeymoon on was being tossed as it was on the outskirts of Hurricane Elida. We couldn't put into Cabo San Lucas cause you get from ship to shore via launches...and they weren't launching in 10'-12' seas. Wife was in our cabin, doped to the gills...I was out walking the decks.
  9. Mine was a little rough when I got it. 2001 Silverado LS which I purchased in 2015. My previous truck, a 1998 WT-1500, had been declared 'totaled' after a run in with another vehicle. Other driver took responsibility at the scene, so no fighting over who's insurance gets hit. So between the insurance settlement and a short-term loan from my dad, started looking for another truck. This one popped up one day at the 'discount' lot associated with a local new-car dealer - one owner, and he used for a trade in - and I jumped on it...after a good test drive and going over it of course. Almost 200k miles on it when I picked it up...but other than brakes and rear suspension, all it's needed is regular maintenance.
  10. Mine would have to be my old Mitchell 320 that I got for my eighth birthday. Used it, replacing parts as needed until I couldn't find parts anymore (pre-Internet)...wish I'd kept it instead of tossing it as now I can find parts. Caught everything from panfish to stripers off Cape Cod with that thing...was a workhorse.
  11. Ya - different states, different laws on legal bait.
  12. Problem is, Kent. It's illegal to use any 'game' fish as bait here in MN. That includes sunnies, crappies, etc....
  13. Can't compare SONAR and RADAR Yes, RADAR uses radio waves..which is part of the electromagnetic spectrum - which includes visible light, microwaves, gamma rays, etc. SONAR is pure sound waves - NOT part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Reason you don't hear anything? Average human hearing only goes to around 20khz - 80khz is way beyond what we can hear.
  14. Actually...the SO goes together.
  15. Ya, it's probably from this spring's spawning.
  16. Wrenched my shoulder yesterday...it's a bit better today but not enough to launch/land the F-9. So I did some shore fishing. Got one...it was a monster...fighting it on my Procyon L/F was a bear
