Fantasy Fishing 2022 - Official Thread
I'm just hoping to break the magical 70% mark (for some reason it won't let me post to Twitter, FB or even save it to my HD, so I gotta snip from the site - Win-7 incompatibility maybe?)

Is this legit?
I'd search for a different charter - that he won't take anything other than checks...which are fairly easy to modify now-days...raises a red flag with me. Did he do the same a few years ago when gas was even higher? (We're at 4.20 now - I remember when it was over 5.00 here)

Does Cutting the Cord Increase Fishing Addiction?
I lost interest in pro sports decades ago. Dumped our cable almost 20 years ago...survived on Netflix until last year. Now we have Roku with Paramount and Disney - covers pretty much everything we have an interest in.

Boat and Tow Vehicle
If you're looking at new - depending on the options you get. Chevy Traverse is rated up to 5000# towing. Chevy Tahoe is rated up to 7900# towing.

Tips on how to not lose things in the lake
I got two of these - one has my med-kit in it, the other is for phone, wallet, keys, etc 7x7x3.5, so plenty of room. Polycarbonate so pretty rugged https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Products-Watertight-Large-Dress/dp/B00CJIBBJU/ref=sr_1_6?crid=2CRQR0GAZILGI&keywords=WATERPRoof%2Bbox&qid=1654023591&sprefix=waterproof%2Bbox%2Caps%2C243&sr=8-6&th=1

Looking for new fish finder for smaller lakes - 1 mile or so and 40 ft deep with lots of rock/tree structure
I upgraded from a 3-year old Lowrance Hook 2-4 to a Striker 7cv (no sidescan) last year. The difference was incredible even then...and it didn't take long to learn the Garmin, the interface is relatively intuitive.

If you don't need built-in maps - a Garmin Striker 7sv will give you chirp, downscan and sidescan for just over $500. I does include map-making capabilities, you can create a map of your lake. https://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Transducer-Fishfinder-Traditional-Quickdraw/dp/B076W9JSK1

New Pfluger president 25 wont click on drag release...
Well, that'd be a change since my 2017 President-25 does click when releasing line against the drag.

This is the 10th boating-related fatality on Tennessee waters this year. Just wear it!
Maybe not - but you have to admit that it can seriously affect others in sometimes very detrimental ways. If you don't do it for yourself - do it for your loved ones to save them the pain.

Plastic boats
KL Outdoors (parent co. of Sun Dolphin) is still undergoing some re-org. Add to that the recovery of supply chains from COVID and production ramp-up is still ongoing. If you can find a Field and Stream Sportsman 12 - it's the same base hull as the Pro 120 since KL makes them for F&S.

Inflatable Life Jacket
That depends on the jacket itself. Yes, some inflatables need to be worn to be counted, but there are those that don't have to be. Check the label of the PFD to see if it's one of those that do need to be worn to be counted. From Minnesota's boating guide. "Some inflatable life jackets are required to be worn in order to be counted as one of your U.S. Coast Guard-approved wearable flotation devices—check the label for indication. " BUT - checking my AM-24 Yes, the AM-24 is labeled "Must be worn..."

Best 3000 size spinning reel for $100 or less?
Check ALF's used section - they put used reels out there and you can sometimes find a real deal. Example: Both my Patriarch BCs were bought from there. $200 each new - both rated at 'Good'. Except for some boat rash, both are 10/10 mechanical condition...and I paid about $70 each. Far as the Pay-Pal - I've been using them for 10 years...never had an issue. I usually steer clear of E-Bay, but sometimes there's things you can only get there - like the replacement logo stickers for my Alumacraft rebuild...reproductions of the originals. Just have to find someone there who has a good rating with LOTS of raters.

Home Storage Box for Hard Plastic Lures
My question is - how many 'spare' lures do you have to need that much storage? My spares/dupes fit into a single drawer of one of these...and yes, that includes all my 'extra' soft plastics as well.

Cholesterol
A lot of it is genetics. Me for example: I'm a bit overweight, I smoke, I don't exercise near enough, I eat lots of red meat and saturated fats, don't get near the recommended amount of fiber. And my LDL rating is 62 with my HDL being 75 for a total of 137 - my Doc just sighs every time I get a blood test. Also, my last EKG was normal - for a moderately active 40 year old...and I'm 62

It's the only one I use...

Are we of a single mind?...
Right there with you - I only use leaders in specific situations, and moving baits (spinner/chatter/buzz) are not times I use a leader.

Home Storage Box for Hard Plastic Lures
The bonnets are the cat's meow - every treble lure I own has them. Lets me put multiples in a single compartment without tangling issues. I've tried a few different types and the Owner Safety Caps are still the best. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=owner+safety+cap&i=sporting&crid=3LH1JGSUB1TF0&sprefix=owner+safety+cap%2Csporting%2C125&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

Help with EXTREMELY coiled line
He doesn't say what model his reel is - could be that it's a bushing instead of a bearing under the line-roller.

Sufix 832
832 is my primary braid as well. I do have a spool of Smackdown that was a gift, and if I could afford it, I'd buy more...it's that good.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
As Green said - release it. By the regs, it's illegal to keep, so it doesn't matter if it'll make it or not - turtles, crayfish, etc will make a meal of it.

First Bass Boat - Where to start
Boat Bring Out Another Thousand Fuel/Oil prices, maintenance, storage during the off season, registration, insurance, ramp fees (some states), etc., etc,. etc,...these all add up. Make sure you can afford the on-going costs as well as the boat itself.

Baitcaster Drag
Couple questions. Are you using braid? If so, do you have some backing between it and the spool? If the first is yes and the second is no - your braid is slipping on the spool. You could crank your drag all the way down and it won't help. Take the braid off, put a few layers of some monofilament on the spool, tie the braid on with a double Uni-knot, then fill the rest with the braid...that'll stop the slipping.

Post a photo a day!
Reminds me of a friend's old dog (gone 10 years now) Mike was 1/2 Chow, 1/2 Newfie - 150lbs of lap-puppy.
