  1. Some of us are a little slow to change over. Even though I've had a cell since 1995, we finally 'cut the cord' at home last year.
  2. My opinions - nothing more...take with a grain of salt. 1: I like to run them either along weed-edges or across deeper 'plains' (humps or islands with 8'-12' of water over them). Either straight retrieve or yo-yo (burn/pause or burn/slow-roll) 2: Really cold (under 55) - I'd keep the squarebills in the box and pull out the jerks. Once spawn begins, that's when you pull out the squarebills.
  3. 3907 CPUSS? I was running the computer in the basement that supported the War Room.
  4. Ya - lacking peripheral vision to the right is a real pain. The new boat (still working on it) will probably top out at about 30 WOT...I'm not looking for speed. And a Happy Yule to you.
  5. Ya - my old runabout could hit about 35 WOT - but I usually ran around 25 Lot of the guys here complaining that they can't get above 55 or 60...you'd be disappointed on Tonka. The speed limit here is 40...ya, a lake with a speed limit. Go above that and the county sheriff's water patrol will probably chase you down and fine you.
  6. ^ A-Jay hits the nail on the head every time when it comes to boat operations. I would pay attention to his advice - he did rescue people from the water for a living for a long time after all.
  7. Bite your tongue, dude. Seth's hair is great. This coming from a 62 year old who has a ponytail....
  8. Latest BassU live featured Seth. It's up on YouTube. He's the 'home town hero' here - when he's not on the BASS trail, he's fishing Tonka...my lake.
  9. Did you not go to HS here in MN? Even up in Bemidji we had access to the MECC/MERITS system in the TC via acoustic modem...we did learn punch-cards, but we could also enter programs directly from the Decwriter terminals...and this was back in '76.
  10. That describes my mother-in-law to a 'T' - and she was born in 1946...For her most recent work (commercial real estate) she had to learn the tech to stay at the top of her game. And she's still working, selling properties to commercial developers.
  11. Forgot about that - I used mine up 2 years ago...
  12. Some days I never change...except maybe color or put that one on a different lure. One day, tried a spinner - chartreuse/white with a Skeet's Chartreuse Shad pit boss...nothing. Changed to a chatter- chartreuse/white...moved the pit boss from the spinner to the chatter - caught 2 very quickly. That's just one example.
  13. Grease on the drag washers should be barely noticeable. Yes, leave grease on the teeth...should be able to see it there without having to 'search' for it.
  14. Most of the Dobyns lines have 4 power in less than 7' Fury 664C Sierra 684C The Champ-XP you're looking at. All would work...just depends on how much money you want to spend.
  15. Not far behind you - 1959/1978 1971-72 school year I was at a private college-prep school. They had an old HP Mini with those yellow roll-paper terminals. I taught myself the programming language so I could have the computer do my math homework for me. High-school - we had Decwriter terminals with dial-up connections to the state educational computer. Played text games, learned more programming. Air-Force (1980-1984), my primary job was computer op. Purchased a Commodore-64 in 1982 and have had at least one computer since...right now there's three in the house. Spent 20 years after the AF being everything from a computer op to the interim MIS director. I've been tech-savvy since that start back in the early 70s, and even some of my younger friends (30-somethings) come to me if they have problems with theirs.
  16. Same here - braid is for moving baits or tossing into slop IMO. My T-Rig/Jig rod runs Tatsu.
  17. I wouldn't - heavier single hooks need more 'oomph' to drive them home. Jigs, T-Rigs, spinners, chatters, etc I prefer a Fast action. Mod or Mod-Fast is for treble hooks, which are usually thinner/lighter.
  18. Nope - 705 or 735 for me would be a frog/buzzbait rod My jig rod is a 704.
  19. I haven't paid over $100 for any rod or reel, even though the MSRP on a couple of my reels are $200 each (pair of Patriarchs). I get everything used or on sale...maximizing my buying power.
  20. Have to take into account the weight of the plastic in addition to the jig or bullet weight. T-Rig - a 5" Senko comes in at over 5/16oz, Add that to a 5/16 weigh and you're at 5/8oz...almost the top limit for a Medium power rod rated to 3/4oz. Jig - my favorite trailer is a 4" Pit Boss which is also over 5/16oz...so your looking at 11/16oz with a 3/8 jig...again almost at the limit for a Medium.
  21. Wife wondered that one day - so I stacked the 4 tackle bags I took with me in the canoe on the scale. 72lbs total.
  22. Caught at 10:30 am Caught at 11:28 am Ya - I fish when I can, don't pay attention to those who say "gotta fish at these times to catch them".
  23. That's usually the first thing I try...and it hasn't let me down yet.
  24. I toss frogs on a 7' Diawa Aird-X H/F When I upgrade - it'll probably be to Dobyns Sierra 705C...same line/lure stats as the Aird-X.
