  1. Since I'm always casting to either port or starboard when in the canoe, I just rigged vertical racks behind the seat. Room for 12 rigs. You could rig something like this along the inboard side of the one of the storage compartments behind the fore-deck on the Cajun.
  2. When I used the Palomar, I always left it loose until ready to cinch down. ..then everything at once, as Team9 says. Now I don't use it - too much extra tag to cut off IMO, especially with large jerkbaits, Super Spooks, etc. With the MK, I'm cutting 1/2" or less of tag no matter what size lure I'm tying on.
  3. I get enough catches with the Pit Boss that I haven't even thought about moving away from it.
  4. About the same size as a Uni knot...
  5. Nope - don't count her...she knows better. Mom gave up on me years ago... So all I got is the wife I was thinking you had a couple cuddle-bunnies on the side. (ya...I went there...)
  6. It's a shame that Mitchell discontinued the Avocet RZT - I picked up four of them when they went on clearance and they've been amazing. I'd class them as equivalent to a President XT...and yes, I have one of those as well. If you can find one for less than the last retail of $40, grab it...it fishes well above that price-point. Make sure it's the RZT and not the RZ - there is a difference.
  7. They're not up to Aird-X standards, but the Laguna MH/F casting rod I have does the job at least decently...I won't use it for bottom contact as it's not sensitive enough, but it does well with spinners and chatters.
  8. Depends entirely on the light level Dawn/Dusk/cloudy - I'm wearing Amber Scattered clouds - Green Bright sun - Gray
  9. YZH is one of the lines I have confidence it...three of my rigs have it. KVD really helps the manageability - especially on my spinning reels.
  10. So you have more than one 'boss'? ? We're going to get a PCA who can work more than an hour or two at a time so that I can take the canoe out again.
  11. And the lead that most people still use for weights isn't?
  12. Is it combined, or do you swap the handle out to change it from one to the other. If it's the second, they're just copying Diawa. https://www.fishusa.com/Daiwa-Ardito-TR-Spinning-Casting-Combo-Travel-Rod For the travelers, it's a great idea - two reels, one rod with spare piece...cuts down on the luggage.
  13. Relive the good old days for only $30 https://www.amazon.com/Ronco-Pocket-Fisherman/dp/B094RTCYJ6
  14. Gets even better when you add in power. Dobyns is the main 'culprit'. 3 power spinning - named Medium - and it lines up closely with other manufacturers medium power 3 power casting - named Medium-Heavy - but it STILL lines up with mediums from others - nearly the same lure/line ratings as it's own 3-power spinning Why is one 'Medium' and the other 'Medium-Heavy' when they're close to being the same power? This is why I ignore the 'words' and only look at the stats - my Fury 703C is used where I'd use a medium, and my 704C (Heavy) is used where I'd use a medium-heavy. There's no standard, even internally with a manufacturer.
  15. Using Big Game as the line and according to the line-capacity calculator, you'd get 67yds of 20# on that reel...so 200' of line https://www.pattayafishing.net/fishing-reel-line-capacity-estimator/
  16. Check Bass Utopia's channel - Seth has a number of vids there talking about techniques and rigs...actually a lot of BU's vids are about natural lakes as they're based up here in the Metro area too. Also, check this article by Jonathon VanDam (Kevin's nephew) about breaking down natural lakes. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/natural-lakes.html
  17. Ya - that's been the name since I was a little tyke.
  18. It'd probably work as a medium swimbait rod - the Bigwater medium is rated to 3oz. https://www.purefishing.com/products/bigwater-spinning-rod-1405250
  19. Well, that's better than a spring-clip flying off into the void...had that happen one time when I was servicing my old Abu 500R. Took me two weeks of calls and visits before I found the proper replacement...this was before the internet existed.
  20. I'm still sticking with my tried-and-true MK knot - from 4#Mono to 50#braid, it hasn't failed me yet.
  21. I might have to run over to Omnia and pick some up...they're only 20 minutes from me. One thing I like about the Blockheads is they go even lighter...1/32 oz...talk about a slow fall.
  22. Wow, a recent model. I'm driving a 2001 Silverado - but the only parts rusted are the rocker panels and a bit around the rear wheel-wells.
  23. Ya, I saw that and went 'What the hell?!' Where would you need a TM with a shaft that long? The QE-II?
  24. Owner Blockhead https://www.ownerhooks.com/product/blockhead/
  25. Since Normark Corp owns both Rapala and VMC - it's a given that Rapala lures will have VMC hooks. That also works for Storm, Luhr Jensen, Blue Fox, Terminator, and Williamson - all owned by Normark. P.S. They also own Sufix.
