Heatwave!!!
Minneapolis average year gets 13 days of 90 or above - we hit that mid-June...with no end in sight with more 90s coming this weekend. We're on track for a record breaking summer - and it's one record I really don't want to see broken To see climate change - just need to look at this.. Ya - we had a couple cold snaps, but the trend is for warmer than normal across the board

Winter fishing zoom call series
I have missed one that I remember...and for the same reason that this one is 'up in the air'...but I do intend to be there.

Winter fishing zoom call series
Subject to change at the last minute - right now it looks good for me.

Just receive a Stradic CI4+ 1000HG and mainly fish for bass what rod should i pair it with?
I'd go with a Medium-Light/Fast rod and chase bass with finesse techniques. It's not ideal for walleye, but again, light/small lures are the ticket there.

You could use that 1000-size on a medium rod, but it's definitely not ideal. The Ultra-light matched to that reel would be a great panfish/trout rod. Or you could get a Light or Medium-Light rod and it'd make a really good finesse rod for bass - I use 1000-size on both those...Light for ultra-finesse and medium-light for general finesse.

Used Boat Values
Go to the NADA price guides - ya, they do boats too - plug in as much information as you have and see what they say. Now with the current market add 50%-75% to that figure, and that's what dealers are selling used boats for. If you're selling, you should ask for something between the NADA price and that higher figure...don't wait though - with things getting back to normal, albeit slowly, prices are going to drop as the 'weekend warriors' who bought boats cause they had the free-time are gonna sell them again and there's gonna be a glut and depressed prices. Whether that's this fall, next spring or a couple years off...who knows.

ICAST 2021
"LONDON, May 14 (Reuters) - U.S. thermal imaging firm FLIR Systems Inc FLIR.O bought Raymarine RAY.L, the UK maker of marine radar systems, out of administration in a deal worth $180 million, beating off competition from navigation systems maker Garmin GRMN.O."

Kayak Fishfinder: Yay or Nay?
Ya - I've had my Striker 7CV from the start of the 'season' and I'm still learning how to effectively work it. Who knows how long it'd take me if I had something like an Echomap ??SV.

Heatwave!!!
I feel for you guys getting hit with that, especially @Glenn as the PNW is really not use to that. Here I am complaining that we're gonna be in the 90s again starting Saturday...but I hope to get out once or maybe even twice before that happens and I have to hermit it in my AC'd house.

Whopper Plopper hooks
Nothing wrong with the hooks on my WP-60, 90 or 110...very sharp out of the box. As Brian says, set it more with a sweep than a 'heave'.

Buzz Bait Swim
For buzzbaits, I want a high IPT and at least a MH rod. My main buzzbait rig is: Fuego CT-XS (8.1:1 33.9IPT) on an Aird-X 701HFB Two other rigs I'd possibly toss them on are Patriarch (7.9:1 32IPT) on a Dobyns Fury 704C Avocet RZT-3000 (5.4:1 29IPT) on an Okuma Reflexions 701MHA - if I'm tossing a buzzbait on my spinner though, I must be desperate.

Current Favorite Hook Sharpener ?
These are the two I carry with me - stone for most of it, ceramic rod from a knife-sharpening kit for putting a needle point on.

Aluminum Boat Add-ons
SI sonar with maps - 9" or bigger for bow, 7" for console Foot-controlled Trolling Motor with spot-lock Anchoring system (MinnKota Talon or Blade)

Fishing scales
This is the one I have - modified to replace the hook with a carabiner to clip a Rapala grip into. I've done some home calibration checks and it seems pretty accurate. https://www.amazon.com/ReelSonar-Digital-Scale-Measure-Gripper/dp/B00W9ME9AE/ref=sr_1_28?_encoding=UTF8&c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=Fish+Weighing+Scales&qid=1624908402&s=hunting-fishing&sr=1-28&ts_id=3409051 It's a 'generic' unit that's sold under a number of labels at prices ranging from $13 to $31. Too much gear; what to take?!
Same reason I removed the plastic seats in the canoe and replaced them with 2x12s supported on aluminum angle - lots of under-seat storage now that lets me take everything I own.

Major Boat Fail By A Pro (Aaron Britt)- video back up
We've got a number of them here. Minnetonka has limits based on time of day and distance from shore. "Speed limits:40 mph during the daytime, 20 mph at night, and under 5 mph in Quiet Water Areas and within 150 feet of shorelines, beaches, docks, anchored boats and swimmers." https://gis.hennepin.us/PublicMaps/34-406-07-16_LakeMinnetonka_Map.pdf Of course hardly anyone obeys the rules - can't tell you how many times I've been 'buzzed' by wakeboats when anchored.

What line for new combo
My Medium-Heavy spinning rig with a 3000 reel has 20# Sufix 832 with 12# InvizX leader...course it's my main skipping rig, so I'm tossing by dock pilings, etc. Reason for the FC leader - abrasion resistance.

Mono Line With MOST Stretch ?
I think so - that was 42 years ago, so the memory is a little rusty.
-
Mono Line With MOST Stretch ?
Having actually made raw nylon back in my college organic chem class - there are slight variations in the chemistry that can affect stretch, durability and longevity. Different brands use those slight variations to get the qualities they want in the line. So yes - they're all nylon, but no - they're not identical.

Garmin Striker Vivid 9sv reviews?
I've also got a pre-Vivid Striker - the 7CV (no side imaging). The mapping capabilities are great, the screen is clear and visible in sunlight...I'm highly impressed. Now to save up for a SV unit...maybe even an Echomap... (dreams)

New owner for Lowrance
Brunswick, which already has quite a collection of boating brands under it's belt, is set to buy Lowrance. https://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_123/brunswick-lowrance-62621.html "METTAWA, Ill. June 24, 2021 – Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Navico, a global leader in marine electronics and sensors for $1.05 billion. As a result of this acquisition, Brunswick will add the industry leading brands of Lowrance, Simrad, B&G, and C-MAP to its Advanced Systems Group (ASG)" Lets see if this helps or hurts...

Kastking
I looked at this Kastking bag...went with the BPS/Cabelas Advanced Angler...holds the same number of boxes, and two tool holders for $15 less. For my shore/panfishing needs - went with this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087684NHS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Holds 8 3600 boxes (one in the elastic web on top) and has a standard Molle system on the front...for $40.

Beginner Bait caster user, looking for help
Beginner with a BC - get some 10# or 12# Berkley Big Game Mono Practice with this until you're comfortable - you WILL have backlashes as you learn how to use the tension and brakes. Big Game is a good line and very inexpensive...because you will have to cut some of those backlashes out and replace the line.

Crappie Fishing
Creating cover like this is an old 'secret'. Problem is - some states/localities have made it illegal for private individuals to do this. MN is one that only the state DNR is allowed to create cover in this fashion. Tossing anything in the water - even a Yule Tree that will eventually rot away is considered 'littering'. If you want to do this - check your state's regulations first.
