  1. ^ Cost is part of it - setting up a BFS rig can get expensive. For me, it's also a preference...been using spinning longer than BC so I'm more comfortable with it.
  2. x3 on adding split rings.
  3. Probably why I didn't have any issues with mine - came equipped with Bearing Buddies. Yes - Bearing Buddies are great - get them...probably solve most if not all of your issues.
  4. I had my old runabout for 9 years - other than re-packing the grease twice - I did nothing with the wheel-bearings...and I have no idea how long the bearings had been on the trailer before I bought the boat .
  5. No tips - but wheel bearing should last years.
  6. Nice work up, Glenn - covers all the bases with the fewest rods possible. Guys just getting into/returning to bass fishing should have this as the first vid they watch.
  7. Realize you made a mistake and move on from it - swearing to never do it again. Also note that in many states, what you did was illegal. Example - in MN, we can't even use sunfish, bluegill or crappie as bait.
  8. Ya - the Australian Salt and the Nile are the two most vicious reptilians. Compared to those two, the American Alligator or Crocodile are almost tame puddy-tats.
  9. I'll put in as many fillets from 2#-3# bass as I can legally do. We're limited to 6 fish in possession (LMB and SMB combined) - that includes in the freezer.
  10. I know it - little out of my range...oh well.
  11. I'm in a canoe - very similar situation. Anchor on an anchor trolley is my method...ya, it's a little bit of a pain cleaning the flukes off, but it holds better than anything but a Power-Pole micro
  12. Check the plugs and coil first - that's the cheapest and easiest fix for motor that turns but doesn't start.
  13. I dunno about the 'level flotation' issue - but given the collection of debris inside...I think you got yourself a project boat and first item is check/replace the flooring.
  14. So, since it probably came out of Doyo factory - it's just a slightly changed Lews Tournament MP or Lews KVD. Same braking system on both those - 4-pin centrifugal and magnetic.
  15. Looks more like a Mirror Carp to me given the coloration.
  16. Ya - even my MH/F spinning rig that I'm running 20# braid to 12#FC leader on...where's my drag set? About 3.5# 4.4# of drag on spinning is plenty.
  17. What lake? I did some shore fishing by the Narrows Channel on Tonka and only caught a couple dinks plus a hammer-handle.
  18. Season opened yesterday here - got out for a couple hours this morning from shore. Caught a couple on a Rapala Jointed Shallow Shad-Rap 07 in Silver Shad. Not big - but the 'bass drought' is over. First one was about 11"-12" Second was a little bigger - and something had chased it at some point and took a bite out of it's tail. So for me...at least the season has started.
  19. Shore fishing for a couple hours this morning - first non-bass of the year is a hammer-handle
  20. My general finesse rig is a Dobyns FR702SF and a Pflueger President-25, 10# Braid with 6# FC leader.
  21. Oh, there's been a few From a 2013 article. February 22, 2009 Kim Bain-Moore becomes the first woman to compete in the Bassmaster Classic. She qualifies by virtue of winning the 2008 Women's Bassmaster Tour Angler of the Year title. In the Classic, she finishes 47th out of 51 anglers. February 21, 2010 Pam Martin-Wells becomes the second woman to fish the Classic. Like Bain-Moore, she qualified after winning the 2009 WBT AOY award. She finishes 22nd among 51 anglers in the Classic. https://www.bassmaster.com/news/ladies-firsts
  22. Oh ya, you can find deals if you look around. Legacy had a Patriarch ($200) reel in their used inventory. I ordered it and other than a small bit of rash on the left side plate, it's in perfect condition...I paid $70 for it.
  23. I did say 'depending on the size of the lure' A WP-60 - Ya, that could be for crappie A WP-110 - I don't think so.
  24. Bass, walleye and pike WILL chase after panfish lures as well. Small jig (1/32-1/8) under a bobber with a small (>2") plastic is a favored technique for crappie...guess what...I've caught bass, walleye and pike on that rig. So really, anything can be caught by anything - depending on size of lure of course - so it's pretty much personal opinion of the DNR-EO if someone is targeting an out-of-season species based soley on lure usage.
