  1. Wow - I can stop into any of the three local convenience stores and get minnows. Two of them only carry crappie minnows pre-bagged, but the third actually has tanks and three types.
  2. The 703C while saying MH is more like other brand's M...yes, I have both. The closer rod to a 705CB is the 704C as far as suggested weight range of lures is concerned. I think you'll be happy with that - I'm enjoying my Fuego CT-H on my 705CB.
  3. I fish them on my 7.1 Supreme or 7.3 President XT - if I want it to go slower and drop, I reel slower. It's easier for me to slow down than speed up.
  4. Big difference you've already pointed out. The Strikers don't come with maps, no way to upload pre-made maps to them except those shared by others that they've made with their units. To get base maps, you'd need a Garmin Echomap unit.
  5. Both of those are juvenile Largemouths.
  6. It's a type of flounder.
  7. Ya - we got one of those tooting around Tonka too. Lets the guys put in the docks without getting their feet (legs, hips, etc) wet.
  8. How could I forget Prior - old friend had a house on the lake that I'd help put in/take out her dock every year back in the 90s...we'd catch whites from the dock...then have a fish-broil for dinner.
  9. Looks like a barge being pushed - see it here on Minnetonka occasionally with the milfoil harvesters.
  10. Ya - save your money...I'm just lucky mine was a gifting, so I'm out nada.
  11. Ooops - I got stuck on the rod he has and what he can use it for. Missed the question about what rod he should get. Need more sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep..........
  12. He already has the rod - looks to be a ML+ - so it more a finesse rod with some wacky and light T-rigs/jigs possible.
  13. The Prowler 8 weighs about 100lbs. Ya, a trolling motor is pretty much a necessity on most pond boats. You can mount the TM either on the aft end or on the bow - it's pre-wired so you don't have to run wires along the deck if you bow mount the TM.
  14. Trout is usually lighter - unless you're going for the big lake trout. 6# is about the upper limit for rainbows (not steelhead - treat those like salmon), brooks and browns. Bass - anywhere from 4# for finesse work to 65#+ braid is used - all depends on what style of fishing you're doing. Don't have to get a rod rated for 65# - the ratings are mainly for line diameter of mono line. 65# braid is about the same diameter as 17# mono. Catfish - small ones, 20# is more than enough. Big channel, flathead or blue I'd go heavier. The rod you have, using 8# mono would be a good start for all three. Make sure it's a quality mono like Berkley Trilene XL, Sufix Siege, Sufix Elite or something equivalent....don't settle for a cheap line.
  15. I'm hoping we get someone to watch the wife sometime Tuesday-Thursday. Won't know until Friday when it'll be. I've got a spot picked already - if the wind isn't too much for the canoe, otherwise it's off to the secondary spot.
  16. I don't 'hustle' any fishing gear - 'The Boss' approves everything I buy...and she rarely denies me cause I know our financial status and I don't push it.
  17. I get a waiver - my wife is part Cherokee.
  18. I've got a Flowt comfort mesh. It really is comfortable all day in the canoe, USCG type III certified.
  19. You guys are lucky - we're only allowed 1-line in the water per person during open-water season unless you're fishing border waters.
  20. That's the way to do it, man. My canoe trailer is a modified PWC trailer - even with the purchases, cost me 1/2 of what a 'canoe' trailer retails for - and that was with buying the PWC trailer new-in-box from Northern Tool.
  21. Someone probably caught a real fish near where those things are made and marketing ran with it.
  22. ? I think we're talking real fish here - not imitation, 'something that might taste like fish'.
  23. James is probably busy - it's tournament season. My suggestion - Lews Tournament MP - it's what I'm looking at in place of the Patriarchs that aren't sold anymore. Aluminum frame, dual-braking (centrifugal and magnetic), carbon-fiber drag. Looks good to me.
  24. Just not in public...please.
  25. Dobyns Champion XP is another option
