  1. Pflueger President XT-30 - size close to a 2500. 7' Okuma Reflexions ML/MF - 1/8oz-5/8oz lure rating. Right around $150 Extra $30 - upgrade the reel to a Pflueger Supreme-30.
  2. An ignominious end to a fine rod.
  3. Ya - most of them just grab the first image they find and don't even look at the time-line. Pic of neighbor's house that went up for sale last year shows the old 14' runabout in my backyard...that I sold back in 2011.
  4. Trying to post my picks for Neely Henry - and the FB posting link still brings up my Lake Fork roster...being very annoying. So - Win-7 snipping tool to the rescue.
  5. ^ This - I'm working towards a mainly Dobyns rod selection - but I've got a Diawa and a couple Okumas. I get the power/action I want...even if I have to search beyond my favorite manufacturer.
  6. They are a nice looking rod - I have four of which two are still in my main rotation, one designated for shore fishing and one as a backup. Might I suggest the Medium-Light Aird-X - either 6'6" or 7'0" (your preference). It'll handle those crappie lures as well as a T-Rig up to 1/4oz weight with worm (7" Berkley Powerworm, 4" Yamamoto Senko/Yum Dinger, 6" Zoom Lizard. 6.5" Zoom Trick Worm or 6" Zoom UV Speed Worm are ones that wouldn't overload the rod)
  7. It's not going to wear it out - I have one spinning reel that I have no choice with...because of the bail-engagement system, it HAS to be reeled to close. Sucker is over 40 years old, still with all original parts, and still works almost like new...though I've retired it because I've moved to all right-hand retrieve and it's a left-hand only. What closing the bail by hand DOES do is help mitigate line-twist.
  8. Even with spinning or spin-casting rigs - there is no such thing as a 'do it all'. Baitcasting - a 7-speed reel on a MH/F rod is probably going to be the most versatile rig available - but there will still be things it can't do.
  9. This is what I do with KVD - every time. I've not noticed anything other than more manageable line with less memory.
  10. Were you running that TM full out all the time though? If I'm just tooting around at speed 2-3, I can get get a few trips out of my 75AH battery. But if I power it at 5-speed to get someplace - I've got 35 minutes of run-time before I need to recharge.
  11. If it's a MinnKota - max draw is 56amps. A quad of 100 AH wet-cell batteries is going to give you just under 1 hour of max-power run time - you don't want to draw those batteries below 50%...if they're AGMs, about 1.3 hours...Lithiums will extend that to 1.6 hours. Half those times if you run only two batteries. You're also not going to go very fast. My 14' canoe (400lbs loaded with me and gear) with a 30# TM maxes out at 2.8mph...use that as an benchmark. I'd suggest that you find a way to get a replacement gas motor...electric motors aren't very efficient unless you want to load your deck with a bank of batteries (a dozen or so).
  12. Mass is the same - it's just more dense so the smaller profile of the tungsten doesn't have as much resistance...ergo, the bass' mouth isn't forced open as much by the weight hitting the front.
  13. Is it an older rod? The current listing on Diawa's site shows no Moderate or Moderate-Fast action Lagunas. https://daiwa.us/collections/freshwater-rods/products/laguna-rods Power is Medium - Action is Moderate-Fast for your rod according to the specs you posted.
  14. If there isn't a short in the system draining power - I'm out of ideas.
  15. Spinning is what he's looking for - and Moderate action - Lagunas are only Fast Only Moderate (Regular) action in the Procyon line is the 7'9" - rest are Fast or X-Fast.
  16. Well, goes lighter and heavier than what you indicated, but my light-crank rod would fit the bill Okuma Reflexions 7' - ML/MF-F - 1/8-5/8oz - $75 https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-OKUMARDS.html?from=basres Lagunas and Aird-Xs only come in fast - no MF or M
  17. Well, according to the info, the Brute should run your Helix-7 for up to 12 hours. Only thing I can think of is another drain on the battery somewhere...other electronics plugged in or a short in the system.
  18. Are you sure the battery is fully charged? Is anything else running off the battery?
  19. The 5's draw 600mA - the 7's draw 800-900mA according to the manual https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com/sites/johnsonoutdoors-store/files/assets/misc/HU/H/HUM_productmanual_OPS_HELIX_SRS_532509E4/HUM_productmanual_OPS_HELIX_SRS_532509E4.pdf
  20. Nothing you really can do to prevent hook-turn when setting it.
  21. Go get 'em, Dean.
  22. Yes - it's their home brand. Another: Jawbone is a Field&Stream/Dick's Sporting Goods 'house brand'. The bass in my avatar was caught with a Jawbone spinnerbait.
  23. No matter what lake Andy fishes, he calls it 'Menderchuck'...just so no one can come and 'steal' his brown-bass.
  24. Just checked - still on the front page Maybe it's two spools of the same...
  25. I need to get one of those cup-holder tablet mounts...probably a gooseneck as my '01 Silverado has the cup holders down on the 'hump'. I do a 'slap together' backup camera for when I'm launching/landing the canoe. One of my Dragon Touch cameras on a 'backpack clip' on the rear topper window. The tablet connects to the camera via Wi-Fi.
