  1. Snagged - clams have 'hair' on the edges of their shells that are sensitive to touch. Most times when they're brushed, the clam 'clams up' - shutting itself off from the world. The way I see it, the line brushed up against the edge of the open shell, the 'trigger' activated, and the clam shut itself up trapping the line.
  2. This has been built over the last four years. My lineup 4 years ago BC Abu Ambassadeur 500R on a 6'0" M/M Ambassader Spin Abu Cardinal 562 on 6'0" Medium Ugly Stick Pflueger 640 on 6'6" ML/F Diawa 1312 I added 3-4 rigs a year plus 'upgrades' to get to where I am now.
  3. You want the whole list? Sure! 4. When I had oil-felt drags, ya, I loosened them at the end of the day. Since I upgraded to Carbontex on all my reels, I just leave them set...not that any are tight - 1/3 the line-test or rod max-rating (which ever is less).
  5. Diawa Fuego LT 1000 - 6.4oz, little less line, 160yds of 6#...but I only put on 70yds of mainline over backing on all my reels...no need for more really. It's only a 5.2 at 25 IPT Little heavier is the Fuego LT 2500XH - 7.2oz, 6.2 ratio with 34.5IPT and holds 240yds of 8#
  6. Look up In-Fisherman articles and videos - Also 'Angler's Edge' is a good source... Al is based here in MN and puts out a lot about fishing here. Another one to look up is Seth Feider - there's a number of vids with him fishing MN lakes...primarily Minnetonka, but he's known to branch out. Omnia Fishing has a section where they post fishing reports from various lakes - detailed with lures used and techniques.
  7. What RW said - sounds like a nick in one of the guides and that's what's fraying the line. If the rod-guides are alright - check the line-guide on the reel.
  8. Now I see them - nice catches all around.
  9. Best we got here - that thread is only 7 months old...not like some threads dredged up from a dozen or more years in the past.
  10. Wrong highlight - sorry - fixed
  11. Go to Sieberts - he's got multi-packs at half or less of that https://siebertoutdoors.com/products/ols/products/tungsten-rocket-worm-weights-with-weight-and-logo-tng-rck-wrm-wgh2/v/TNG-RCK-WRM-WGH2-PCK-12
  12. I see this Click on the link and I get this
  13. @Eddie101 - none of your picture links are working.
  14. Small trailers with light loads bounce - it's a fact of life. My canoe trailer bounces...probably not as much because the total weight is more (around 350lbs trailer+canoe), but it still does.
  15. Reason the wife didn't balk at my pan-fish haul this past week. She collects pins (got a display cabinet and everything) and Lego Minifigures (yep - another display cabinet)...so she really has no room to complain. We do try to keep it down - we are on a fixed income.
  16. Oh agreement here too - but I don't have the patience to cut out the Y-bones...I want to fillet the fish, not perform surgery on it...so I toss all the pike back. Walleye on the other hand...
  17. Ditto the YZH 10# - but get a bottle of KVD L&L...really helps. Nice thing about YZH - it breaks at higher than the printed line test - 10# is actually good to around 15#-16#...ya, they under-rate it.
  18. On Tonka - most places 6" off the bottom is 5' deep in the weeds.
  19. 20 years of my career were spent in suit and tie - for scheduled meetings with 'bigwigs', I even had a 3-piece (trousers, vest, jacket) - still have it in fact, and it still fits.
  20. I'll agree with that and up it one - my single 110 gets nada, my 90s get chased and I've caught pike and bass on them. Course my range is limited in the canoe, so maybe I'm just not getting to where the bigger fish are.
  21. I've got three HUK and a Columbia - gifted to me by a member here. The HUKs are the Diawa specials that came with reels a few years back and he had plenty...so was offering them up.
  22. Not only does the Fed-Ex air-express delivery girl know me - we're friendly acquaintances and we always take time to chat about our goings on even when we just bump into each other around town. She fishes when she gets a chance and the wife teases me about her being my 'on the side girlfriend'.
