  1. 2. A lot also depends on the rod - any of those reels could handle any of those techniques.
  3. Got your popcorn at hand?
  4. I think 'itchy' falls in there somewhere too.
  5. Here's to you and Lynn having time together on the water this coming year.
  6. DNR is already posting ice-out dates on lakes in the metro area here. Nokomis Taft Harriet Swede (south of Watertown) Keeping my eye on it - once Dutch or Little Long open up...time to get the canoe in the water.
  7. Seaguar for all leaders and most of my braid 40# 832 to 15# AbrazX on my MH BC rig 20# 832 to 12# InvizX on my MH spinning rig 20# Smackdown to 6# InvizX on my ML spinning rig All mainline-to-leader knots are FG.
  8. I go with the same size - though I do upgrade to a stronger hook. Except on the Rapalas that come with a #7...you know how hard it is to find #7 trebles? I go with # 6 in those cases.
  9. Dude, I think he starts counting down the next trip while on the plane back from the latest one. ?
  10. Gotta take care your stuff better, man. One of the green utility shirts I got when I entered the AF in 80 still fits and is in 'wear out of the house' condition.
  11. Length? Girth? Some measurement would help immensely.
  12. A T-Rig is a T-Rig - whether it's 3/4oz weight with a 5/0 hook and a 10" magnum worm or 1/32 weight with #1 hook and a 3" grub - even a weightless finesse worm on a 1/0 hook counts...it's the manner of rigging, not the weight that makes it so.
  13. I expect another week here - though the 70 predicted for Monday will help as will the rain on Saturday.
  14. Considering that all the salt placed on roads where I live ends up in the lake and Minnetonka is considered a top fishery for multiple species...I'd say the chances of damaging the fish to be fairly low.
  15. Maybe you need a bucket instead.
  16. Braid will 'spin' on a spool. Fix is to either put some mono backing on it or use a small piece of electrical tape on top of the arbor knot to prevent slippage.
  17. We don't have Academy here either - but we do have Cabelas, SW, DSG (one closest to me has a decent fishing section), Scheels, Joes and the Fleet-Farm in Carver has a good size fishing section as well. We're not hurting for lack of one store.
  18. Use the 15#...that's the line on my main jig-rig.
  19. I use the FG there...
  20. If I get close enough to the backing to make a change necessary, I'll do that...but as it's the backing to mainline, I think I'm safe for now.
  21. Only time I use a double-uni is backing to mainline. I try to have the line diameters close to each other. 5-7 turns, less for thinner lines, more for thicker.
  22. I always shake any pump-spray bottle before use as a matter of course. Just looked at my 16oz-size. First item under Directions is 'Shake well before use'.
  23. Northern and Walleye open on May 15, Bass opens for C&R same date...if you want to keep Bass, you can't do that until May 29.
  24. Ya, gonna be 6 weeks of panfishing and creating maps on my Striker the way it's looking. Even if we have open water first week of April, bass season doesn't open until the middle of May.
  25. Or something like this that I installed on the canoe trailer...gluing some rubber to the top this week.
