  1. ^ What he said - any of the 705CB models will handle a 3/8 chatterbait.
  2. I went and handled a few models of the Colt locally - and after a while of 'shop testing' them, I 'd still prefer the Aird-X over the Colt. Just something about them didn't sit right with me
  3. Even my wife agrees with that, and doesn't want to move further south even if we could afford to. Her first winter here (1989-1990) was hard on her, but since then she's come to love it. I moved her here from SE Florida (Boca Raton area) where she'd lived for twenty years.
  4. Except for one instance, I always dated that kind of gal...and eventually married one.
  5. They're looking at 40s next week - time to break out the swimsuits.
  6. An interim option is some screw-on HDPE slides. I did that with the canoe trailer last year and it made a huge difference. This is the set I got - decent price. https://www.amazon.com/Caliber-23011-Marine-Slide-Pack/dp/B06XY7FP4D/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1M6V6M2WTEJIY&dchild=1&keywords=trailer+slides&qid=1613660002&sprefix=trailer+slide%2Caps%2C189&sr=8-2
  7. You just do...in some cases moving is not an option, either because of financial issues or other reasons. So you grin and bare it because you can't do anything else. I use to be more active in the winter: Hunting was always an option as the season doesn't close until end of Feb to mid-March depending on the species. But with the wife becoming partially disabled and me being her PCA, I don't get the time anymore to travel to good hunting spots. I also cross-country skied, but I've 'outgrown' the skis I have - X-C ski sizes are based on the weight of the skier, and I've put on some since I was last out...and can't afford a new pair. Now I just hang around the house, work on projects or read/play board games with the wife. It passes the time and it's not totally boring.
  8. Can I shoot him instead?
  9. Except for when your wallet screams in agony.
  10. Unless that's a 40 size - 12# is way too thick for it. My 35 size I ran 10# YZH, and that's about the limit for that reel. 30 size I'd keep to 8# max, 25 size would be 6# and 20 size would get 4#.
  11. Fury 705CB/Fuego CT-H - Cranks, Spooks, Ploppers, Wakebaits Fury 704C/Patriarch - Bottom Contact, Swim Jigs, Bladed Jigs Fury 703C/President-XT - Jerks, Lipless, Weightless Worms Fury 703SF/Avocet RZT-2000 - Light Skipping, Flukes, Shaky, Weightless Worms Fury 702SF/President-25 - Drop/Split Shot, Light Finesse Jigs
  12. Round bend everywhere for trebles.
  13. Well, the cold is known to shrink things.
  14. We're currently at -3 officially - so it's getting better, and the next week should see vast improvement over the last bit Hang on, Michigan guys - it's coming.
  15. They do have a 2-piece 7' MH/F as well as 7' M/F and 6'6" M/F. Fisherman's Warehouse normally carries them, but they're currently out of stock. Might have to wait a bit for them to get back in stock. I've had a 1-piece Aird-X 7' MH/F for a couple years...it's not bad and has worked fine for jigs, spinners, chatters, etc. It's a little light, but not enough to worry about it not handling normal MH jobs.
  16. Watched that first run as a teenager - loved it.
  17. I'll take it - we made it to only 3
  18. What I mainly remember is getting into trouble with the parents. I think more of my summers were spent grounded than not...
  19. Gods - sounds like me in '78. (Twin sons of different mothers?)
  20. Thanks, but I like the 4# bass I got going on now.
  21. Which is a reason I have an I-F subscription.
  22. I'd love one - just two things stopping me 1: Money to afford a trip 2: Someone to take care of the wife while I'm gone - I'm her PCA
  23. Well ya - like I said earlier - panfish. Stream fishing for trout doesn't open around here until the middle of April - season is currently closed Lake fishing for trout opens around here middle of May as well - though if I deigned to ice-fish, season is open until end of March. Between ice-out and season opener in May - it's panfish or roughfish around here...that's it.
  24. Yep - no closed season there - but it's a 1&1/2 hour drive for me...and I can only get away 4 hours a trip...not worth it. Pike and Bass season ARE still open right now - but both close on the 28th (just under 2 weeks from now) and don't open again until the middle of May.
