  1. Well, 7" would be just under 25 square inches of screen, 9" a bit over 40 square inches - so 60%+ larger. All depends on whether that extra viewing space is worth it to you.
  2. From my experience - and I use 4#, 10# and 12# YZH - it appears to be neutrally buoyant...meaning it doesn't seem to affect the lure's depth. I use it for topwater, mid-running cranks and bottom contact (T-Rig, jigs, etc) and I've not had issues. Just be sure to use KVD or another good line treatment...it's almost a necessity with YZH IMHO.
  3. Another of my old reels - don't have it anymore, but I thought I remembered something and a peruse of images told me I was right. My old Mitchell 320 was another that you could NOT close the bail manually. It also had a mechanical engagement that locked the bail open. Turning the handle was the only way to disengage the lock to let the bail close.
  4. I'd just like it to be quiet. Anything that goes 'bang' or 'boom' is illegal in MN - yet my neighborhood sounds like a war-zone. Cops are no help as they already got a list a mile long of the exact same complaint. Follow The Law People! (rant over)
  5. Reveal comes as either a double-shot with DI or triple-shot with DI and SI...just like the other Lowrance series sonars.
  6. Depends where the fish are. They can be in water that's 2'-3' or even shallower - or out hanging around drop-offs sitting at 15'-20' or even deeper.
  7. I manually close the bail on all my spinning rigs...except when I take the old Pflueger 640 out. That one has a latch that engages a cutout on the bail - can't close it manually, have to turn the handle.
  8. So far I've been very happy with my Aird-Xs, though the pair of Furys I picked up on sale this past winter have also been very good. Mainly it's my budget restrictions that keep me from getting anything better.
  9. Ya, I know...I've got a Reveal 7 Splitshot/GPS on my wishlist - be quite an upgrade from my current Hook 2-4.
  10. All screens are measured diagonally - just like TVs and Computer Monitors. Takes a little calculating, but... A 6" screen is about 17 square inches A 9" screen is about 39 square inches - so over twice the viewing area.
  11. Ya, even a mild breeze under 5mph can cause my canoe to drift away from a spot within just a few cast's time. Someway of making sure you stay in place is a must.

    I toss my WP-90s with a Pflueger Supreme 7.1:1 on a 7' Diawa Aird-X MH/F. Line is 40# Sufix 832 with 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid leader.
  13. Look at the pics I posted - two rod-racks with 6 tubes each...got room for 12 rigs. Mounted behind the seat, but far enough forward that they don't interfere with the TM. @A-Jay has a 9-spot rack in his Old Town, so I'm not the only one to carry a number of rigs in a canoe. (Pic from A-Jay's album 'A-Jay's Fish Pics II')
  14. Ya, just by the water patrol when they come to haul your naked butt to the hoosegow.
  15. What the others before me said. I had a cheap plastic combo that I used from age 4 to 7. For my 8th birthday I got a Mitchell 320...and used that until I couldn't find spare parts anymore (this was before the internet - so I had to find them local).
  16. Oh - those aluminum 2x2 angles? Holds a pressure-treated, primed and painted 2x12 on top of which I've mounted a standard boat seat.
  17. Takes a bit of ingenuity. And yes, they're all tethered too.
  18. Double down on this. I have a canoe, it's my only way onto the lake. I use a tablet-based map/GPS system with a Hook2-4 under it - cheap and useful. When I get to what looks to be a good spot, down goes the anchor and I fish the heck out of it with whatever I can toss - 10 rigs lets me have variety without having to retie.
  19. As a red-head who lost an eye to cancer caused by...yep, not wearing sunglasses when I should have and UV rays causing the melanoma inside my eye - I'm now almost fanatical about being protected Even in the heat of the summer - which even here can approach 100o at times - light-colored long pants, long-sleeved SPF 50 t-shirts (I have 3 HUK and 1 Columbia), and a hat. Sunscreen is used on my neck and I wear light SPF rated fingerless gloves or put sunscreen on the backs on my hands.
  20. @A-Jay - want to help this person out? A-Jay owns an Old Town that he takes out regularly...when you can pry him out of his Lund anyway.
  21. I go with BSI (Bob Smith Industries) - liquid, gap filling, or gel - for all my superglue needs. Been using it for years without an issue. Has the lock-on cap like Loctite, I've had the same bottle of thin liquid that I use for scale model building for 5 years now and it's still fresh-as-new even with only 1/3 of the bottle left. Most hobby stores buy it from BSI and put their own label on it - so check the fine print on the back if you shop local. In Minneapolis and local - the Hub Hobby 'brand' superglues are BSI.
  22. Been there, done that. Got to the ramp one morning to see empty clamps where my paddle is suppose to be. It's backup in case the TM gives out, the battery dies or the TM's prop is weed-chocked. So back to the house for me that day...luckily that launch point is only 10 minutes from the house. Good on Lynn for getting spinner-bass - always a fun time. She looked so busy hauling them in...did you even get to cast? :)
  23. 2.4# bass on a Ned rig - Pres-25 on a Diawa Spinmatic (UL/F), 4# Yo-Zuri Hybrid. The UL is my normal Ned rod though the reel has been replaced with a Pres-20...the 25 is now on my Fury 702 for general finesse use.
  24. Ya - TON is Goth - others in the same vein would be New Order/Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy and The Damned.
