  1. Shhhh - I'm hoping to get a Mojo for my new Fuego...and I don't want them running out before I order.
  2. I also grew up with cast-right/retrieve left spinners. A couple years ago I started (finally) upgrading my rigs, and purchased right-hand retrieve baitcasters, and swapped the handles on my new spinners to be right-retrieve...and I'm fine. Do what's comfortable for you...ignore advice from someone else.
  3. Similar here but since I have less rigs, a little more universal for me. Crankbaits/Jerkbaits: 10# (Trion) or 12# (new Fuego) Yo-Zuri Hybrid - depends on which rig I'm using Jigs/Worms: 20# Power Pro (President BC) Topwater: 20# (Pres BC) or 50# (Fuego-XS) Power Pro - again, depends on the rig
  4. There's a preview of the flyer that's in effect starting Nov 27 at Cabelas - should be good for BPS too.
  5. I've got 39 items on my TW wishlist right now. Some expansion of my jig choices, filling in holes in my plastics (adding colors where I already have 1 or 2 of a type) and adding some other styles of plastics
  6. I remember when Thanksgiving decorations went up in the stores the day after Halloween. Now you can't find Thanksgiving decorations anywhere and Christmas stuff goes up. (sarcasm on)Thank you retailers everywhere for deleting a holiday.(sarcasm off)
  7. Well, the bass in my profile pic was a 3.9# caught on a 3/8oz Jawbone Spinnerbait - DSG exclusive that costs $2.99 each. They also come in 1/2oz size in a small variety of colors. They also have a Buzzbait at the same price Another option, a little more pricy, but also only at DSG is the Strike King Banshee line. Both Spinnerbait (1/4, 3/8, 1/2) and Buzzbaits (3/8, 1/2) at $4.99 each - wider color selection in the Spinnerbaits than the Jawbone line https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/f/spinnerbaits?pageNumber=0&filterFacets=X_BRAND%3AJawbone%2CStrike King Add the stickbaits that can be used Wacky style or T-Rigged and you've got a good start.
  8. And now I'm waiting on another delivery - Mother-in-law got me a couple b-day gifts. One is a Fuego CT-H (6.3:1)...new crank-bait reel. Should be here Thursday.
  9. Any of them can be good - it depends on what the bass are hungry for that day. Which is why a selection is preferable. I've tossed one color for an hour and got nothing, changed colors and get hit first cast in the same area I've been working.
  10. If you haven't purchased the stick-baits yet - Bass Pro has a kit with a selection of colors on sale. 36 worms in 8 (random) colors for $5. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-36-piece-stik-o-kit
  11. And so it begins - having gotten my 'Yule Gift' early, I've already started this year's purchase spree. Just a few items when I found out A: Banshees are only carried at DSG and B: They had a 15% off sale Line is for my Avocet - better visibility for the finesse techniques.
  12. My first shipment of the year is here - arrived this morning.
  13. Ya, couple rods (their own) couple reels (again their own) - mostly it's clothing, cooking and hunting, with some kids toys tossed in.
  14. Catch the sarcasm? It's a base Hook 2-4, not even GPS on it, less than a year old. The only 'updates' this unit could have is a replacement.
  15. Oh? They can upgrade and add maps to my Hook2-4? Neat. (sarcasm off)
  16. In a few years I might upgrade from where I am now - but it'll be a big decision that'd take most if not all of my yearly fishing budget.
  17. So she knows and doesn't care. The OP is trying to hide his fishing purchases from his wife - big difference.
  18. On average - about a 6 for BCs and 7 for spinners. The majority of my casting is side-arm - the only time all my casting was overhand was when I fly fished...which ended about 30 years ago. I plan on doing more practice with overhand casting this next year and improve my aim.
  19. Not the bass so much as the panfish, walleye and northern - at least here. Whole 'villages' get set up over the productive areas.
  20. Make sure to bring your warm undies.
  21. He must have one of the KK Speed Demons
  22. You and @Fishing Rhinoare two of my inspirations.
  23. My Aird-X rods, Diawa and Pflueger reels, Yo-Zuri and Power Pro line all work just fine for me, and didn't need the outlay of much moola. Depends on what and how they were saying. "Why'd you buy that cheap reel?" is minimal bashing and possible acceptable. "You're a moron for picking up that piece of crap." crosses the line far as I'm concerned.
  24. I'm going to be doing some more mods to it besides what I posted last spring. Maybe do a vid on it when it's all done next spring.
  25. My canoe isn't quite as large as @A-Jay's, being only a 14' square-stern with a 34" beam. But with outrigger stabilizers, I too can stand to cast when I want to, and the 30# TM moves it quite easily. Use the paddle for short changes in position and it moves like a breeze. Also have a trailer for it which does limit where I can launch, but at my age, makes it much easier.
