  1. Ya - Trion was their entry-level reel...unfortunately, the only baitcasters they make anymore are the President XT - which is a good reel, and the Monarch...which I consider below the Trion. It'd probably cost more to get that old Trion fixed than it'd cost to get a new reel.
  2. DVT is Delaware Valley Tackle - see the link in the right-hand column. Mike does excellent work, well recommended by anyone here who's used his service. Know what model it is? I've got Pflueger casting reels that are about that old that still work perfectly...and some models aren't 'cheap' by any stretch of the imagination - right up there with current reels.
  3. Before you settle totally on weightless all the time - this little tidbit from Steve might open options.
  4. I started with putting the original bags into 3607-10 (normal depth, one compartment) then into 3600 tackle bags that I put under the seat of my canoe. When I built Bass Trek, I tried a couple different things before going to my final solution. Blank worm bags, labeled with a Brother P-Touch Label Maker, and those put into 3707-10 boxes by type. One has my stickworms (Senkos, Ochos, Stik-Os), one has Trick worms, another Craws, etc. With a label at one end, it's easy to grab exactly what I want.
  5. I kept thinking to myself - 'This sure sounds familiar...kind-of.' Then @Choporoz's post hit and I knew...I'd been using it since my fly fishing days...there it's known as the 'bow and arrow cast'. That's what I've always called it...it's another of those 'fifteen different names for the same thing' making it difficult to understand.
  6. Sounds typical for south of the border, King.
  7. My first fishing gear in the mid-60s was from exactly that...an ad on the back of a comic. Me and dad heading out with the 'Comic Gear' circa 1967
  8. No idea on that, Chris....but I'm willing to bet it's more than the replacement cost on the battery if it's not an expensive brand like Dakota or such.
  9. It can be done - but you gotta jump through a lot of hoops. USPS is VERY restrictive - UPS and FedEx will take them, under certain conditions. https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/how-to-ship-batteries.html#3 https://www.ups.com/us/en/support/shipping-support/shipping-special-care-regulated-items/hazardous-materials-guide/how-to-ship-batteries.page
  10. MH/F is pretty much the 'Swiss Army Knife' of rods...it'd probably be a shorter list to say what it can't do. Jigs, T-Rigs, 3/8oz+ Shakey Heads, 3/8oz+ Soft Swimbaits, Whopper Ploppers, small hard Swimbaits (Bucca Baby Shad or Baby Gill), 3/8oz+ Jig-Worms...and that's just the start.
  11. Are you a Dr? No? My meds keep me balanced...without them, I'm a frickin' mess. Don't be giving this kind of medical advice unless A: You're a licensed psychiatrist and B: You have personal knowledge of the 'patient'.
  12. We know your position on this....I just think you get bored easily, so have no patience.
  13. If I wanted to stare at fish on a screen, there's plenty of YouTube videos shot underwater.
  14. Pretty much the only difference I see between my 6'10" ML/XF and my 7'3" ML/XF is I can get more distance from the longer rod, but I'm more accurate with pinpoint casting with the shorter rod. Far as reels - on the 6'10" I've got a Miravel 1000 and on the 7'3" I've got an Ultegra 1000...I like 1000 size for finesse work.
  15. That's why I'll stick with Mighty Max when I upgrade to Lithium...but purchased through Home Depot, not Amazon. That way if there's an issue, I just return it to the Home Depot that's 12 miles away.
  16. @MIbassyaker - my year exactly. With the ulcerated wound on my right ankle, the pain prohibits me from launching/landing Bass Trek...so I'm stuck on shore until it heals. I get out once a week, if I'm fortunate. I've had one day where I took home some eating size (my standards) bluegill, but the only bass I've caught this year was this past week - and they wouldn't have scored. Maybe I'll get out on the boat a couple times this fall....if I'm lucky.
  17. Andy, I know it probably feels like you don't have enough time to get everything done before she's home - trust me, with the number of times Nora's been in the hospital for one thing or another, I've been where you are now. Try not to stress it, get the important things done, minor crap can be done later. DON'T FORGET TO BREATHE. You got this, pal.
  18. If you're talking sonar only - certain Minnkota units with built in sonar will connect to Garmin Echomaps. If you're talking remote control of the TM from the Echomap - you're limited to the Force or Kraken TMs from Garmin.
  19. Maybe nibble is the wrong word, but when I feel a bass go 'tap-tap-tap' at my Ned or Shakey head, my heart starts racing waiting for it to commit and take my offering.
  20. Worcester too....
  21. Doesn't matter which one is capped off long as the red from the TM matches up with the 'live' connection on the plug. I'd personally replace the 3-prong TM plug with a 2-prong one...but that's me.
  22. The left one is a small chart used by CG cadets during training cruise. The ship is the USCGC Eagle - the ship that some of the cadets take their training cruise on. Note: The Eagle is one of two sailing vessels still considered part of the active duty fleet of the US Military; the other is the USS Constitution....ya, they never decommissioned her.
  23. That's my position exactly.
  24. ^ And it all revolves around your available budget. What's merely difficult for one person to afford, is out of the realm of possibility for someone else.
