  1. What’s with the bead
  2. Sounds maybe like you put it on backwards. I hate fluorocarbon until I learned to put it on right, spray the heck out of it when putting it on, as well as before use and be careful
  3. Worth noting that I frogged in heavy vegitation for four years on a single spool of 50lb maxcuarto. I never once broke off. The only reason I’m getting rid of it is finally I had to cut some off due to a bad backlash. Otherwise it has several more years in it
  4. Anybody else compare silent braid to 131? I have both and it does appear the 131 is noticeably more braid like than silent braid.
  5. Need to understand weights and cover to give good rod options. I can flip/pitch (nobody asked about actual flipping rods , sorry old guys) anywhere from a 843 light medium heavy In open water to stumps with an 1/4 ounce all the way to a 8’0XXH with 2oz
  6. Im sure the others have their fans and their place. I don’t go into the jungle without a 73XH Expride. having one for frogging and one for pitching/punching is ideal
  7. I enjoy the uniqueness of the steez line with the AGS guides. I’m not aware of production rods that match their weight, sensitivity, power, actions that match them. I don’t know if a loomis that matches the power pitch. Maybe the new 874C does. I know the bottom contact is right around a competitor of the NRX 894. To each their own.
  8. I wanted to give a shoutout to the continued great service I get from daiwa on their warranty repair on my steez rods. I am not affiliated with daiwa in any way and stand nothing to gain from this. As usual, I was sending in another rod for a broken guide. This typically happens because as we know the AGS guides can be fragile. Between my two steez rods I typically break a guide once a year. This is admittedly my fault as when I tournament fish with the guys I’m usually junk fishing with lots of rods on deck. I typically am heading from spot to spot rather quickly with a rod strap tied down on quite a few rods. Ultimately, throughout a season one guide typically breaks. This normally costs me anywhere from $15-20 based on me having to ship the rod to daiwa. in this case, I sent them my bottom contact that included a note around a slight crack I observed between the forgrip and the butt cork. I honestly don’t know if this developed as a result of my trolling motor stabilizing hitting it or potentially from heat. Either way, I included the note to daiwa to take a look. When I got home today I opened the tube to see a brand new rod, my sleeve I sent the old one in and a new steez sleeve. I know Daiwa doesn’t get the notoriety that Loomis does so I figured I’d let you guys know. These Steez rods are fantastic and the power pitch and bottom contact are winners.
  9. Would you be just using a split ring? I don’t understand the swing head comment
  10. Are there any other ringed hooks besides the gammy EWG, VMC reg & hd versions ? Would love a twisted point ichikawa muscle or owner haymaker. Thoughts on making your own with a split ring ?
  11. Great call on the anti inflammatory. Two years ago I started taking a single ibprofen first thing in the morning, it seemed to really help loosen things up. As mentioned before, you can really stiffen up. It’s probably ideal to consider Whole Foods to snack on
  12. Thanks for the detail. Same frame, I’m out. The 2020 Mets just ruined me, they turned me to daiwa. IMO they need to move on from that frame and let the bantam be that style.
  13. Thanks Ajay. I fish leading up to this tournament as much as I can but unfortunately having long days on the water before a two week fishing trip isn’t ideal for the wife and kids. i forgot to add. This trip is 13 days, I pre fish the lake for 6 days prior to the six day tournament . It’s a blast but a serious beat down Thanks for the advice guys. I forgot to say that the tip is in August and I go for a week early. I pre fish for fun so ultimately I end up fishing close to ten hours a day for the six days prior to the six day tournament. I’m in my late 30s but it’s still such a beat. It’s an absolute blast but it’s a challenge to not get super beat up. Sometimes, it feels likes you can’t even squeeze tour hand closed anymore. It’s thousands up thousands of pitches. I wouldn’t change it for anything 😂
  14. It’s an August trip. I fish an all buddies tournament in Canada that has been going on for many years. Believe it or not, it’s several guys in a boat and quite a few boats for six days. My question is, how would you prepare your body for such an event? Obviously real tournament fisherman have to do similar. Over the years I’ve learned a lot. It’s a blast of a time but it’s all a grind if you don’t take care of yourself, drink to much or just plain aren’t prepared. It’s a balance between having fun in the boat and at night. Items I’ve started * drink as little alcohol as possible *physical preparation * hand gripper months out * I’ve toyed with filling a 1 inch piece of pvc with sand and cutting it at 8 ft to simulate long hours of flipping * went to full clothing coverage, can’t let the sun get to you at all * balance ball? How would you prepare? I can assure, it’s a beat down and I am to endure it while having as much fun as possible
  15. If the metanium 100 is the same frame as all the other recent gen Mets with a different spool I don’t see how it has a feel to the old core 100 that’s any different than the feel of the rest of the Mets including the 150. Am I missing something?
  16. It looks cool, it’s Hard with $140ish reels anymore. There’s so much competition. Heck, the alphas sv for $163 makes buying much else every difficult. You’ve got the curad0 150mgl that can be had close to that. Slx mgl, list goes on
  17. A 5/0 worm or EWG should still work fine, heck, a 4/0 would too, don’t overthink it
  18. This is not true assuming the 70 is built on the alphas frame. The zillion is much higher and palms completely different
  19. thoughts on Jon Bs videos? I assume this was real. Quite disappointing in my opinion but it will only grow from here. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4HDv3_OBLv/?igsh=Z3Q0bGhieHR5Y2Fp https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4Tk-mVJ8Ez/?igsh=MWZ5MnJsOGhnMHhn
