  1. It’s not a broom stick but it certainly is a hammer. I love mine. I’ll be buying a second just for flipping. My first is a dedicated frog rod. Amazing stick
  2. What’s it cost? Looks sick
  3. What are these spinning rods you speak of?
  4. I’d prefer something smaller and lighter in weight. The hd is a great reel but imo there’s too much emphasis put on needing something big and heavy. Your aren’t using a ton of line and the reels durability is so good that I don’t see them breaking down. I tell myself that I’m going to need to see some nice daiwa/Shimano reels actually break before I decide to start holding an extra two ounces all day. Pitching is super fun. It’s also more fun when you’re doing with something that’s not wearing you out even more.
  5. Whichever fits your style. The Tatulas are the best bang for the buck
  6. Get the regular tatula rod.
  7. I get it’s a concern for some but when you’re trying to dial a specific setup in technique in this is what you get
  8. Great info Can we agree that in this example (73xh) that it likely wasn’t built to have a 5.5oz reel on it? so the theory is this. The balance of the rod was probably best at say a 7.5oz reel, maybe even more. I’m looking to put a 5.5 oz reel on it with a big handle. Even if I had to add a full ounce to the butt section to get it to balance tip up (t rig/jig fishing) id be still holding 1oz less overall? that was the idea, perfect tip up balance, small, palm-able reel with less weight overall. Was gonna put a pitching worth of 50lb silent braid on it.
  9. I’m looking to build my ultimate summer heavier pitching setup. I’ll be using a 7’3xh expride with a steez ct sv 8 ratio with a 100mm paddle handle. This rod is obviously not balanced to have quite this light of a reel. I want it balanced best with 3/4 punch mill tungeston weight. what I do know how to actually properly balance it. What balancer works best and fits the butt as well as how do you factor in the weight you’ll use. You probably don’t hang the weight off the tip but rather have the line extended out but the weight does impact the balance right ? I spend the summer needing about 3/4 to get through some thick stuff and love the power of the expride but admittedly any xh will get heavy after pitching for 10 hours in a day Any help is greatly appreciated.
  10. Conquest 783C with an alderbaran 8.4oz 👀
  11. lol. There’s not much mod fast about the 7’3 xh. it’s certainly fast and there isn’t a rod on the entire market that comes close to matching that particular blank for weight to power ratio. Is an NRX a little more sensitive? Yup, they don’t make an NRX that can hold a candle to the expride 7’3xh in terms of power and balance. Nobody does as far as I can tell. There’s plenty of great jig rods for 1/2 oz but most of them start to get pushed to their limits and become mushy with 3/4 oz jigs. 894, 873, power pitch, perfect pitch, Brailist, bottom contact 2, all fantastic rods that lack the power effectively with full 3/4oz jigs. I need to admit that there are plenty of rods that I haven’t tried. If there’s another stick that is rated or as capable at heavier as much as the 7’3xh expride then let me know. Hard to beat a rod under 4.8 ounces that’s balanced decent, sensitive and is rated to 2oz. You also have to remember that Shimano had the previous expride xh’s rated to 3oz and the blank isn’t any different. This is a true jig rod that you can throw a 1oz full trailerd jig on and it’s not mushy
  12. Expride 7’3xh heavy. It’s a fantastic stick that will never leave you wanting more power. It’s also very light for its power
  13. I too have the alphas and have fished it hard for two years. Smooth as butter. I’ve thrown everywhere from 12lb flouro for jerkbait to 65lbs braid punching. Bolt a 100mm handle to it and you have a little powerhouse
  14. They always say that. Both my a & b 7’3xh weigh the same. They are also amazing.
  15. 1/4-1/2 jigs same for Texas rigs skipping six inch senkos under the darkest docks and wenching them out light Tokyo rigs swim jigs
  16. The tachyon shaft. It’ll make you laugh like a little kid when setting the hook. So much fun
  17. I caught an 8 on a little Texas rig in florida on mine last year. The rod handled it perfectly. I have steez ct sv on mine paired with hi vis braid to 16-22lb leader. When jerkbait fishing I’ll go down to 10-12lb. It’s an amazing rod for doing whatever you’d like
  18. Absolutely love my 783c. Great jerkbait rod. Goat skipping rod. Great for small cranks or whatever else you want to throw. Great for Texas rigs too
