  1. It's funny because it's true. I do think it will make braid cast a little further but the slimy coating is unacceptable
  2. Imo on a casting reel braid is superior. I can certainly cast 50lb braid much further than 20lb braid. On a spinning reel 12-15lb braid is best for me.
  3. I'm surprised nobody mentioned 12lb his vis yellow sunline sx1. I really like it. I'm interested to know if anyone has compared the 12lb sx1 to the 15lb smackdown
  4. Flash green smackdown only comes up to 30lb. To go above 30lb you need to move to stealth gray. I love smackdown but only in 40lb and above. Even 40 is thin. I do also prefer the power promax quatro around grass. It doesn't seem to fray as much with its lower carrier count.
  5. 40-65lb smackdown or maxquartro. 12-16lb leader if needed
  6. I the tatula lt the 4000 doesn't hold more than the 3000. Also, I've broken off a bunch of frog fish on 40lb smackdown on casting gear. That's why I brought it up
  7. I recently purchased a Dobyns champion 705sf for my son to throw frogs and top water on. My question is what model tatula lt to go with for what im going to assume will be 50lb smackdown or maxquartro? Will the deep spool 3000 be enough to not unspool the reel on decently long frog/plus casts? Will braid that heavy come off a spinning reel good? Sorry, I'm only used to 12-15lb braid on spinning reels as all my heavy stuff is casting
  8. I agree with the curado K. I too see all the love but when compared to the rest of the mgl reels it just feels clunky, always needing you to adjust.
  9. What's the highest weight punch jig you'd throw on this rod? Will 1 & 1/2 Oz punch jigs with a trailer make it feel gummy/overloaded? What is the sweet spot for punching with this road/would you punch with it?
  10. I haven't fished my new Expride 7'3 XH yet but as someone who has rods that cost twice as much I was blown away by how it feels. I can't believe it's capable for 2oz, it's weighs nothing. Only disappointment I'd say would be the new revo rocket. For the msrp price point I expected a much more refined reel.
  11. Told you Does this mean the current metanium will go down to $200? LET'S HOPE SO
  12. Same here, just wondering if I should wait pay over $100 more for the 2020 version. The current one is amazing.
  13. I guess what I mean is I care about what I can pay for it. Not what is lists for.
  14. Digitaka lists the current metanium mgl for 31,800 yen which is around $289. Maybe they reduced the price of the current metanium? I believe it's been around that price for awhile. You've been able to get the metanium mgl on ebay for $300 for at least a year.
  15. This drives me INSANE. Why should us normal guys be punished while a bunch of right handed weirdos switch hands after every cast?
  16. Any idea if it will follow the JDM pricing of the current metanium? Currently you can import those for right around $100 less than the US version. Also, any insight on if it's a US, JDM or both reel
  17. I agree. Stretching out the bantam is the only thing keeping me from buying more
  18. Anything in that 7'3 Heavy range should work well. I say heavy because in the grass I like the back bone to clean my jig and not flex deep into the rod. It also means you can get those big girls heads turned in the right direction otherwise they bury in the grass. No way on glass for grass imo
  19. Well I already have a bantam I can move over to the expride. Sounds like I might have an excuse to wait for the new metanium.
  20. Does anybody have suggestions for reel or reel weight to pair with the 7'3 XH expride? I'm mostly thinking a shimano. Setup will be used for frogging and pitching heavy punch jigs. Or just a reel that you love with that rod.
  21. They make and sell a ton of rods. If they are made here in the United States somebody has to know where.
