  2. Steve did a swimbait interview with Zaldain that’s awesome. He talks about everything. It’s like 2 hours long
  3. I could watch those swim bait bites all day.
  4. He knows that’s a $100k school
  5. June bug works in Mississippi when the water is a normal stain which is about 1-2 feet of visibility. But I use a slightly more red color that usually out fishes it. It’s not popular and I’ve never seen it on the shelves locally which I hope continues. When the water muddies up I switch to a black grape type color. The lake I typically fish you can leave GP at home. Any purple/black variation will outfish if 5 to 1. I usually throw a dark jig with a bright trailer.
  6. Yep. There’s 1000 pockets and one will be firing off while the closest 5 on either side are dead. Those fish migrate with the bait
  7. Same reel retails for $180 in the US. Everything on JDM market is discounted due to exchange rate. Take advantage of it and get the best JDM reel you can for your budget
  8. That’s not really a fair comparison. The Tatula is nearly twice the price and definitely better. However the LFS is a perfectly fine reel. The $150 Alphas is a different league. Definitely the Best Buy under $200 unless you need a lot of line capacity
  9. The water temp there never gets too high. You can have the front of the boat touching the bank and the rear transducer read 50-80ft deep
  10. ALF is wild. I got an expride for $180 listed used but still had the plastic on handle and looked new. Next day they sent me a $50 gift card saying it was a promo that I had no idea about. I’ve bought several “used” items that came with tags or plastic on them.
  11. Look I love Smith Lake and catching those spots. But unless someone finds a few largies back in the creek or some 4lb spots out over 200ft of water chasing herring it could be a boring tournament of literally everyone weighing in 12-15 lbs everyday. The MLF tournament at James River will be a better watch.
  12. I generally buy 6 gear ratio reels because I grew up using them and that’s what I’m used to. I have a few 7 but nothing over that.
  13. Polarizing matchup. Outside of the two fanbases the entire nation was grossed out watching knowing one would win a championship 😂 But seriously the two best teams in the country without a doubt and an incredible series. Its a shame Braden Montgomery was injured because he’s a superstar. Vitello is the best coach in the game regardless of how you feel about him.

  15. https://discountfishingdeals.com I’ve bought gear from Chris Stewart for several years now without issues and he regularly has Costas around $100. They are just discontinued models or maybe not the most popular models. But not bad for a backup pair

The non-bass I hook into the most are gar. Outside of a good fight I hate them. Mud fish too. If they don’t break my line they ruin nice baits. Ironically the lake I fish is loaded with crappie and catfish but I rarely ever catch one and with the amount of squarebills and cranks I throw you’d think crappie would bite more often. I’m always around crappie it seems but I may catch one per year.
  17. True. A lot of issues are electrical. GM/Chevy trucks with the new electric shifter are crapping out constantly having to be towed back to dealerships because the driver can’t put them in gear. I know of tow truckers who deliver 10 or so a week
  18. Makes you wonder what Toyota design team does on a daily basis lol. But that generation Toyota so much better than todays product
  19. I had a 2009 328i sport edition back when they offered it. Had beefed up suspension and brakes and the big fat rear tires with a 6 speed manual. It wasn’t going to win a drag race but I’m convinced it could take literally any curve faster than any other car on the road. The car was fast though. 4th gear would exceed 100 with two left to grab. It never cost me much besides the expensive tires that had to be replaced every 25k miles. I sold it around 100k miles
  20. BB1 Pro would work just fine if you don’t mind the big frame. It doesn’t palm well enough to frog for me personally. I like to have a strong grip for those violent hooksets.
  21. If so that’s wonderful. They used to be one of the best rods for the money. Hopefully academy will still carry them.
  22. I fish dirty shallow reservoirs full of grass and timber. Rarely ever do I need to make a full cast at maximum distance. Instead I make a bunch of short precise casts and a smaller reel is lighter and more comfortable in doing so. I do have quite a few deeper spooled reels for deeper cranks, traps, top water, etc. But I’d says at least 80% of my casts in a day are under 25 yards.
  23. It’s a fine reel. You will be satisfied.
  24. I’ve had better luck with the pricier ones for sure. The Magellan one I have will make you sweat your butt off and break out in heat bumps. Buy Columbia, HUK, AFTCO, etc and you’ll be cool all day (well technically nothing will keep you cool right now). My personal favorite is a North Face though.
