I’ve been using mean green on most of my moving bait setups for years.

MLF BPT B&W Trailer Hitches Stage One
I’m sure sponsors love their product being kept off camera.

Looking for a ‘high end’ popper rod
I also throw poppers on a head turner although I prefer the Expert since it’s a bit more moderate action. In your case I think the custom route makes the most sense.

Flat-sided crankbait recommendations
I’ve caught more fish on a Little John over the past 5 years than any other lure. It works year round for me. I do really like the Frittside in the pre spawn. I plan on using yhe Rapala OGs more this prespawn because I love the build and action. But the Little John stays on my deck year round.

Love New Truck Day ~
Lol it’s just spread out. Lots of folks driving 30-75 miles one way to work. Grocery store 10 miles away. Want a burger? Drive 7 miles. It adds up.

Love New Truck Day ~
I love the new GM redesign. Much better looking than what Ford and Toyota are producing which is a first in a while. I still don’t understand why GM makes you spend $60k to get a center console though. Should be standard option these days. 100k miles is 3-4 years of driving for most folks down south. My current truck has 170k miles on it and most extensive repair thus far is a water pump. At the prices they charge you should be able to drive it way past 100k miles before having to pull the heads and drop the tranny. Just my opinion.

Love New Truck Day ~
Are they getting rid of the fuel management nightmare? I’m in the market and am looking at a z71 but personally know several folks who’ve had to dump $7-10k in lifter, cam, and transmission repairs just over 100k miles. My days of keeping a truck passed the warranty period may coming to an end. Even Toyotas are having quality control issues now.

Tough Low Profile Reels
I use a Coastal SV 150. It has aluminum frame and side place, 100mm handle, solid drag, and is designed for braided line. I like it because it has plenty of line capacity for 60lb braid and it skips really well with the SV spool. It’s not tiny but same size as Tatula elite and 2020 SV. Handles just fine for me. I bought it like new for $150 and see similar deals quite often. If budget is not an issue the Bantam would be a great pick. They are solid as a rock but heavy and hurt my palm so I sold them.

Lol they have like 200 freaking pumps and 50 urinals and a line to use one man. The crowd is like going to Best Buy on Black Friday in 2001

Let's Talk Crank Bait Rods...
Go graphite. 3-6 ft there is no need for a long rod. I have 3 primary crankbait rods and all are graphite and I shallow crank a ton. Kistler and Cashion make great graphite cranking rods. If you like a longer rod the 7’6 Falcon Cranker is a good stick and won’t break the bank. I think most brands make something that will fit your needs that is shorter and lighter than your current rod. There’s no need for any rod to weigh more than 4.5oz these days. My jig and frog rods don’t even weigh that

It’s a spectacle. But their food is actually legit. Bbq is better than a lot of restaurants and fudge/pecans/etc. is solid. It’s not an everyday type of stop but when on a road trip looking for a 30 min break to stretch the legs and fill the tank it’s fantastic

Milikin on Private Equity
M&A isn’t inherently bad. The problem the bass fishing industry has is these companies aren’t being acquired by big money PEs or corps who see benefit in investing back into the industry. If they were you wouldn’t hear any complaints because then money would be pouring into the tournament scene. Professional bass fishing is cash crippled. The current M&As aren’t increasing industry cash flow. That’s the issue.

Got a job at a rod Company!!!!
Labor of love. Learn it. Perfect it. Even if you move on to a different career path you can always build on the side for extra cash or just for yourself.

BB1 Pro 7.5:1 use
I have this reel and can't imagine throwing weightless plastics on it. I'm sure it can be done but I'd prefer a 70 or 100 size for that application. The BB1 series is designed for distance castings plugs and other power fishing, straight retrieve baits.

Favorite Bourbon\Rye cocktails....
Whiskey sour or old fashioned. I don’t add egg to the sour so it’s really a Boston sour I think. With the old fashioned I like to make my own brown sugar syrup and add a few dashes of bitters, two cherries and an orange peel. If I don’t have any oranges I’ll add a few dashes of orange bitters and they work quite well in a pinch.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
All of my drinkers are running low which means it’s time to buy. The local store had a barrel pick 1920 a few weeks ago. Fingers crossed they have a bottle left.

American Legacy Fishing Used Gear Trade In Program Shipping Concerns/Tips
The time I reached out for a quote they offered $80 for a $250 rod and said I had to pay $15 shipping on top of that. Unless it’s a high end product from Shimano or Loomis don’t expect a competitive offer. 35% of msrp seems normal and but if it’s not a popular brand it will be less because they can’t turn it around. For instance I had a like new smoke pt spinning reel that sells for well over $100 and they offered $10 because demand was too low. However I have bought prob 10 or so used rods and reels from them over the years and been satisfied with most.

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
2023 has been the year of Wild Turkey for me. Ive been through quite a few bottles of Rare Breed and Russell’s but I have to be honest. The Makers 46 cask strength is insanely good for the money. I don’t usually go for Makers products but this one’s a winner

Sports Illustrated
Twitter is the best place for sports news. You get immediate information and direct access to local/team writers that have the most accurate information. The masses no longer want crazy in depth pieces on week old news. The Athletic tried to revamp what SI was and failed. Barstool is the new age variation that works. Content is king and they’ve done an exceptional job generating the content folks want by taking a “fan” approach.

Tatula Elite vs Tatula 100
Buy the zillion. Don’t ask questions just do it. However the Elite is 100% worth $40 over the 100 to me. The aluminum handle side plate improves the feel and smoothness. Plus I just think quality control is better on the Elite than 100 from my experience

Jordan Lee Returning to BASS
David Fritts just announced his retirement. Not sure if he was on a legend exemption but if he was will open the door for someone.

Jordan Lee Returning to BASS
I think Boyd thought he could find the money to cover the fees by assimilating certain anglers but quickly found out sponsors were more concerned about giving money to the individual than organization. Which is the right answer since the brand is the angler and his yt/instagram platform.
