Yep. Fishing pressure is at an all time high and the sheer amount of tournaments has made it really tough to catch bass on moving baits. Targeting isolated cover with a 1/8 oz Texas rig and 7” curly tail worm has been one of my go to presentations due to this.

I’m sure they still sell enough to keep them in production but the 7 year old design definitely has lost its sizzle. At one point it was the entry reel to get the MGL spool which is now offered through the whole lineup. I’d expect a refresh soon and when it happens they’ll be back in the spotlight. The Chronarch line will always have a following because of their great reputation throughout the 2000s

12lb mono/copolymer is the best general purpose line in my opinion.

I stand corrected. The first Cara cost $100 to replace because I was not the original owner and did not have the receipt. The 2nd Cara was $20. Both were my fault and they were told such. Even at $100 that’s better than most companies. It’s why I have a rod locker full of Falcon and ALX. Both excellent companies to deal with.

Last two warranty replacement on Caras cost me $100

Watson did numerous interviews this winter slamming MLF and Boyd. Said Boyd was this and that and had receipts to back it up and was only fishing because he felt he owed it to his sponsors. The gist of their beef was in year 1 Watson claims he saw a top 10 angler one event fail a drug test and told everyone he was going to make the cut but then mysteriously the angler didn’t get DQ’d and Watson was left on the outside. He tried to confront Boyd and other officials and was basically told to F off and shut his mouth. And it’s been a major grinding axe since.

Local tackle shop still has a few old GLX on the shelf. Asked the guy if they would work out a deal on a 854JWR since it’s discontinued and most online retailers had them on sale. Guy wouldn’t budge and said G Loomis is always full price. Guess he will have take those half dozen rods to his grave.

There is a Youtuber named TackleAdvisors that is no longer active due to conflicts with YT but he has a ton of videos and basically disassembles reels in every one. I learned a lot from watching him. Im far from a pro but a basic tear down isn’t that difficult and most every baitcasting reel is pretty similar internally. I practiced with an older reel before moving to nicer ones that I actually use.

Yea I’m in Mississippi and FedEx is in Memphis. They fly straight from Japan to Memphis and within 24 hours of landing it’s at my doorstep. Japanese inventory and distribution has always been wildly efficient.

Without having a tournament official parked in every no wake zone how would you be able to prove it if they didn’t wreck? Right decision to ban for a year but they should also have to pay the local fishery a fee before entering any other tournament after the ban.

The only Owner hook I use is the Jungle flipping hook and it has the needle style point. I can’t see a scenario where you’d need anything outside a basic needle point. It’s the best at penetrating…

Christie seemed confident at weighin or at least optimistic with the weather pattern tomorrow. He has a big deficit to make up though. Realistically I think Hamner prob wins with a 12+ pound bag. My bet is he figures that out and wins comfortably

The Cara and Expert Head Turners have a different action. The Cara is much quicker in the tip and handles more like a typical industry fast action.

@A-Jay what’s the verdict after 3 months? Better than the previous model?

My amateur opinion is use whatever you have confidence in. Flouro may be best for some applications such as suspending baits, sinking/bottom contact, when you need added depth on divers, or clear water/light line situations. Whether or not it’ll put more fish in the boat in not definitive. You just have to try it for yourself and decide. Personally I use it on my worm rods. It seems to have a more consistent rate of fall and maybe a bit more sensitivity but that’s all subjective. I will say that I wasted a lot of money before settling on a product I liked. A lot of flouros, especially in heavier weights, really were a pain to use and constantly needed attention. The only other time I use it is on smaller flat sided cranks such as a frittside or OG slim. It seems to get a little better dive and more action. But really I just have caught a lot of fish using it for those applications and have confidence in it. A good copolymer line is perfect for most normal fishing situations for me personally. Cheap, lasts, casts well, and has great knot strength. Supplement braid for thick vegetation such as punching or frogging. Fwiw I use Trilene 100% flouro in 15lb for worms and Invisx in 10lb for small cranks. Those were the sweet spot lines I found considering performance and cost. McCoy Mean Green copolymer is my main line.

What size weight and hook will you use? I use 1/8oz and 4/0 standard worm hook. My lake has lots of pads and stumps. As long as it’s not too thick I mainly use a Falcon Cara Head Turner. It’s an amazing worm rod if you like a shorter stick. I bought it for lighter spinnerbaits and top water but I like it better for worms.

Dirty Jigs Cali swim jig is sold up to 1oz I think and has a beast hook. Pretty sure I have a 6th Sense that’s 3/4oz too When the grass, reeds, pads, etc get thick in the summer it can be effective because outside of punching it’s one of the only ways to get a bait to bust through. However it’s not easy fishing and will wear you out quick

Everything the Paul brothers do is a money grab but both are very talented. I’d much rather Jake fight someone relevant in their prime. PPV boxing is dead though. Only a few names sell and Tyson will always be one that does.

Just limit them to one live or 360 transducer per event and no more than 25” of screen at bow and console. Seems reasonable and would put strategy in play. There are tournaments in recent years where 360 won over FFS I also would be for limiting amounts of rods an angler can pack each day to 12 or 15. Most guys have that on their deck and in the box. These decisions would make it more interesting for the tv product IMO

The worst part about going any further on a baitcaster is the c clips.

McCoy Mean Green has been my main line for years. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it other than availability. You rarely see it in stores and can go out of stock at periods online. I buy 3-4 bulk spools from tackle warehouse each winter.

I’ve had a Met 20 since it came out and have 2 of the Zillions as well. Here’s my take. If you need distance get the Met. If you need control get the Zillion. The Met is a little more inconsistent. It randomly blows up for no reason. Im not sure either Zillion has ever blown up. Both have held up great but the Met gears seem to be getting a little rough however it’s also time to be lubed. The Zillions still feel new but the finish is chipping in several spots and shouldn’t considering how they are handled. Doesn’t bother me but I know others can’t stand for it not to look a certain way.
