Texas rig/jig rod length
Hmm I may be thinking about this wrong. My thought process was a longer rod changed the angle a little bit and resulted in a better hook set. Psychics may as well be a foreign language for me!

Texas rig/jig rod length
I used to be in the 6’10 camp and still use that length for certain situations especially senkos and finesse jigs. However my go to trig and jig rods are now 7’3 and 7’4. I really like the added leverage and feel as if my hook up and landing ratio has increased. I fish around a lot of pads and cypress trees so having a mechanical advantage getting those fish out of the cover is a plus

Casinos in Richmond Virginia
I’m all for casinos, sports gambling, lotteries, etc. For me personally the the big draw of casinos are events, concerts, and above average restaurants. The Horseshoe in Tunica used to have large coolers of free beer on Friday nights. It was self serve and lasted till midnight. For a bunch of broke college kids we were in heaven. Take $20 and drink $50 in free beer, score a free buffet, and maybe walk out with a little money. It was THE DEAL

Falcon rods any good?
7’ Heavy is a Falcon classic better known as the “lizard dragger”. They actually two separate “heavy” action rods in a 6 or 7 power. I’m assuming you are probably talking about the 6 power which is more of a medium heavy by industry norms. I owned this rod in the Lowrider series and it’s a good all around rod. Strong backbone but soft tip. Great for texas rig, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, etc. The 6 is more designed for open water power fishing in my opinion. If you’re going to be around grass or pads and need some umph go with the 7 power. The 6 power’s sweet spot is around that 1/2 oz mark. 7 is more like 3/4 oz

Need guidance on $200 rod.
For jigs and texas rig you’d want the Falcon Amistad. I have the Zodias in 7’2 heavy and rarely use it. Will probably sell it sometime soon

Need guidance on $200 rod.
I own or owned Zodias, Champion, Sierra, ALX Zolo, SC LTB, Kistler KLX and Helium. Falcon Expert trumps all of these. Just my opinion as there are many I have not fished

What is your lightest power bait casting combo?
These 3 are the ones that stick out fully dressed. Certainly not the lightest on the market but a perfect weight and balance for what I’m looking for Kistler KLX squarebill rod 6’9” MH with Metanium, line, and bait is 10.5 ounces Falcon Cara 7’4 H with Chronarch, line, texas rig plastic is 11.5 ounces Falcon Expert 7’3 H with Chronarch, line, texas rig plastic is 11.5 ounces.

JDM Reel Concerns
New Scorpion will have a MGL spool and IDC5 brakes instead of the IDC4 in Curado. I’ve never owned a DC but if I were to buy one I’d go Scorpion. No warranty is not a big deal to me.

- Brainfarts while rigging?
Did this last week and had a double brain fart. Cut the lure off to fix it and got to running my mouth. Retied the lure without fixing the problem- 2 shot club
Update: I’ve been running a temp for 20 hours now but am starting to feel better by the hour. What was a 2 degree temp overnight has been low grade all day. Still have some aches and a minor headache. I’m hopeful that by the morning I will be back to 100%. If you receive the J&J shot I would highly recommend allowing yourself a clean schedule the following day. I spoke to the clinic this morning and they said majority of people seem to feel bad for about 24 hours- 2 shot club
I got the J&J shot yesterday. Was feeling fine until about 8 pm then it hit me hard. Been running fever and have had a headache for past 14 hours.- BASS elite at pickwick
It’s only a matter of time before Brock Mosely wins one. He’s consistently top 10. Happy to see him succeed. He’s from right around where I’m from and we went to college together. Don’t personally know him but pulling for him- Spring Muddy water finesse baits?
I’ve caught a ton of bass on black and blue creature baits not much larger than a TRD in water with less than 10 inches of visibility. A menace is my go to and may actually be shorter than a TRD- Victory Is Near
If the 7’3 MH casting rod actually weighs 3.7 oz then I’m impressed and may have to try it. But then again I’ve been here numerous times and sold them all within months of purchasing.- Chronarch mgl vs Curado mgl 70 k
A spool with less line will weigh less and therefore takes less weight to get it moving thus a 70 will cast lighter lures better. For most bass presentations the 70 holds plenty of line as long as your using 10-17lb. Larger diameter lines will take up more space and result in less line capacity. I prefer the smaller diameters myself. They are more economical and in my opinion more comfortable to fish. However I own all sizes and enjoy each. A reels build quality and ergo dynamics are much more important factors to me. But again if you are throwing big cranks, swim baits, a rigs, etc a 200-300 size spool will make a difference- How does everyone feel about Walmart one dollar spinner baits?
It you want a cheap spinnerbait just buy H&H- What reel should I get/best baitcaster for lightweight baits?
$300 budget? There’s only one answer. The new Metanium MGL which is $295 from Asian Portal. I own several SVs, elites, coastals, chronarchs, curado, etc. Nothing touches the new Metanium in my opinion- And the beat goes on...
The truth is probably simple. More fish are caught in spring on red because more guys fish them. How many continue to throw red May through October?- When to not use a swim jig?
Swim jigs are a staple for me when fishing heavily pressured shallow lakes with cover. Same with a silent crank. Being subtle and stealthy works very well when everyone else is zooming by with loud blade and rattle baits- M or ML st croix
I owned the Mojo 6’10 ML for a few months and sold it. It is super whippy. I thought since their M rods tended to be on the stouter side the ML would be closer to M but it definitely seemed truer to ML to me. I lost a few fish because due to poor hook sets and replaced it with a Sierra 703. Unless you are throwing really thin wire hooks I would go for the medium.- Thoughts on these spinnerbaits?
@Team9nine have you tried those size 1 trailer hooks on bladed jigs?- Best lure retriever?
I have the Frabil pole and it’s great. Have yet to not get a lure back. I paid $35 or so for it. I had one of the knocker types but it was a pain to use and I could rarely get it to work. However I’m not sure I ever knew exactly how it worked but trying to yo-yo a string while holding my rod as the wind carried me away was a pain in the butt. The pole is a lot easier to use- Oiling a brand new Baitcasting reel
It depends. I completely tear down every Daiwa before spooling it with line. I’ve never felt the need to with Shimano. - Brainfarts while rigging?
