Clear water and clear skies I like smaller blades that produce less flash. I typically upsize as conditions get darker, wind gets stronger, or water visibility diminishes. Same with color. Silver in clear water and blue skies. Gold in clear water and cloudy skies. Copper in dirty water and cloudy skies. I’ve never had much luck with painted blades Ask 10 different people and you’ll get answers all over the place. Start with a bait you have confidence in for those conditions and make adjustments. If fish are following or blowing up but not touching your bait then change it up.

Bass tend to feed up in the fall so I typically fish in the top 1/3 of water column most days. If you are fishing in 1-3 ft of water like I am, waking a spinnerbait is one of the more productive options. I do not burn it though. Just a steady retrieve with a 1/4 oz bait with smaller willow blades If the fish want something quick I burn a 1/4 oz lipless or flat sided squarebill

Had that happen years ago with a crank bait. One treble through my finger and out in corner of nail bed. Other treble hooked to a 3lb bass flopping everywhere digging the hook further and further in me. Not a good day

Do you actually want to burn it or just walk it? Because you can walk a spinnerbait without burning it. You’ll probably have more success too. No different than a buzzbait being more productive the slower you can reel but keep it on top. Stanley Wedge is what I use. Y’all need to listen to @Catt

I find shorter rods pitch easier and are more accurate. When pitching lighter weights go down in rod power and chose a rod with a softer tip. Also reducing line size will help. You don’t need a whole lot of rod to fish a worm on lighter wire hooks in sparse cover. Match your rod and line to cover density and hook diameter

Our water is stained and “deep” is 6-10 foot. But I have most success with a 3/4 oz single gold Colorado blade. No plastic trailer. Although a 1/0 - 2/0 trailer hook is a good idea. However I don’t necessarily slow roll it. Just let it sink a few feet on entry and reel at a steady pace. Sometimes I’ll kill it for a second but it’s really just a “feel” retrieve for me. If I hit a rock or log I’ll pop it and flutter the blade.

Spinnerbaits are still heavily used here. Bladed jigs too. Those are two of the most common moving baits I see thrown outside of a frog and squarebill certain times of the year. My vote would be the ribbon tail worm. Everyone I see is throwing a creature or senko. Black Shad Culprit is still one of my favorites.

From what I was told they didn’t change the shock package from the old steel body when they went to the lighter aluminum body and that’s why. But I have no way to confirm that. sorry for hijacking. I’m done lol

I will say the rear end on mine was horrible and jumped around. Quite frankly I found it dangerous. I replaced the rear shocks with Bilstein 5100s and it felt like 10x better

Was the Lariat an FX4? According to Ford they all use the same suspension depending on package across the full lineup. Tires can make a huge difference

A F-150 XLT drives the same as a Lariat. Same frame, drive train, and suspension. But Ford sure does sell a lot of Lariats and above. Higher end items have a larger profit margin. Shimano makes more selling you an Adrena than SLX. This is why marketing campaigns dump most of their money on higher end items.

I like a moderate-fast action rod as long as it’s not super tippy. They cast well and just feel better to me when setting the hook. An XF action is really nice when using jerkbaits or walking topwater baits though. As long as the power is right, hooks are sharp, drag is properly set, and line choice is correct I don’t think the end result is much different. Just use what you like. My .02

I select rod and line based on the hook. Weight and blade size just move the bait up and down in the water column.

I’ve been watching a lot of videos on the new Tundra and I really like it so far. I’m interested to know the gas mileage the new turbo 6 gets in stop and go traffic though. Toyota’s are notorious for crappy mpg and I don’t expect this to change. My F150 ecoboost gets 20 mpg in rush hour traffic and my commute is 45 plus minutes each way so it’s important for me

I have a Champion XP 683 with a Tatula SV and really like it. I have several crank bait rods but I have no issues throwing cranks, jerkbaits, topwater, etc with the 683. I also throw senkos and shaky heads with it.

When I read the title “dominate the pros” I take that as a Joe who could join the Elites or BPT and win AOY year 1. That’s a tall task. And Joe Burrow was a 4 star recruit and the #8 QB in the country coming out of high school. He just got buried on the depth chart at Ohio state. Love that guy
