Those nasty ticks.
- Those nasty ticks.
There’s this new tick born illness Alpha-gal that won’t kill you but makes you allergic to red meat. I know two people that got it. Having to give up barbecue might be worse than death. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha-gal_allergy- Mega SI on Ultrex or just Mega DI
I’ve never used SI on the trolling motor because I have 360 imaging but I think SI could be useful on the trolling motor. For example, you can use it to maintain a certain distance from a underwater weed line.- Those nasty ticks.
We have a big problem with deer around here and with that comes an abundance of ticks. You definitely botched the tick removal which increases your chances of getting a tick born disease. I’ve known several people that have had serious cases of various diseases. I know one person who died. I know two who can no longer eat red meat. Monitor yourself for symptoms. Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever is easily to detect and easily treated if caught early. It can be deadly if not treated early. Also learn the proper way to remove a tick. Twizzers or a device like @haggard recommends is what most experts recommend. There are plenty of other ways that work but they increase the chances of disease transmission. Do some reading on the web if think other methods are better.- Why are rod/reel sales numbers kept quiet?
The top sellers probably do but they're probably not who you think. I don't know if they're still doing it but I've seen Zebco mention in adds that they were the top selling brand of reels.- Do you really need to spend $100+ for a good rod?
My most expensive rod is an SC Legend (older version that cost $460). My least expensive rod cost around $20 30 years ago. I like both rods in different situations. I like the way the Legend feels. I can say with certainty that does not help me detect strikes and does not catch more fish than the old $20 rod.- Tracker Marine Lithium Battery
I read online that Chins has started using lesser quality cells due to supply shortages. Someone emailed them about this and was told they hoped to go back to what they were using before this summer. Now might not be a good time to buy this battery. Here is the post I read on diysolarforum.com Here is the reply I received from CHINSUSA on my 100AH battery in one day, not bad customer service and honest detail, IMO. They also said their 200 and 300 AH do have prismatic cells at this time but that the soft pack cells work just as good as prismatic cells I am satisfied with their reply and customer service, not too bad. thank you for your mail. SKU: 12100-211227 is a soft pack battery, we have checked that your shipment is a soft pack battery. If you can accept we can give you a 15% refund, if not we can give you a return. Due to a shortage of prismatic cells, production is currently unavailable. Production of prismatic cells will resume around June-July this year. Sorry, currently only 12V 200Ah, 12V 300Ah batteries and Smart 12V 100AH batteries are prismatic. We have some scratched 12V 100AH batteries that are also prismatic.- Humminbird MEGA Live
Tackle Warehouse. They're showing in stock in September. They may actually ship sooner. I'm not sure what to think.- Humminbird MEGA Live
So how long did it take for you to get yours? I ordered in October and TW has the expected delivery date in September.- If You Were A GOAT
I’ve known several guys that borrowed a small fortune chasing the pro fishing dream and never got anywhere. I enjoy watching pro fishing but I think it’s kind of a dirty business. They convince people that they can get rich doing what they love. In reality, very few make a living doing it and only handful make good money in the sport.- Starlink internet
I got my first 300 baud modem around 1985. You could read the text faster than it would come across the network. If you're old you've heard of CompuServ, Gopher, Usenet. Before there was a bassresource.com there was the fishing forum on Usenet.- Down but not out!
That's scary stuff. Take care of yourself. You're in my prayers.- Finesse vs Power Fishing
We debate the definition of terms here all the time. Definitions are important in discussions but they don't catch fish. What I'm referring to is two concepts that are in my mind separate. The first concept has finesse on one end and anti finesse on the other end of the spectrum. The best name I have come up with for "anti finesse" is obnoxious. We move along this spectrum to address the fishes level of skittishness. It means a subtle presentation on one end verses a more forthright presentation on the other end of the spectrum. Subtle means presentations that tend to be small, quite, no flash, and minimal action. The other end of the spectrum are presentations that tend to be big, loud, flashy, and with attention grabbing action. The second spectrum to me has to do with covering water with a specific retrieve rate. We move along this spectrum to address the fishes activity level and willingness to chase down a lure. KVD style Power fishing involves fast action casting and retrieving. The opposite end of that spectrum would be Stitching a worm Bill Murphy style. Some would say the two spectrums are related in that a skittish bass tends to be inactive and unwilling to swim 20 feet to hit a lure. That might be true most of the time. However, we've all seen bass follow our lure all the way to the boat without hitting it. When I see this happen, I always move to a more subtle finesse presentation but I usually don't slow down.- Finesse vs Power Fishing
This tread implies that Finesse fishing and Power fishing are at opposite ends of the same spectrum. I've never viewed it that way at all. To me they are two totally different spectrums.- Bomber…….thing of the past? Bass fishing?
Bomber baits is just a brand owned by PRADCO. I suspect that it is managed by the same people that manage all the other PRADCO brands and they are not trying to set the fishing world on fire with the Bomber brand. There is no one trying to invent the next great lure. They are just trying to make money selling the classic Bomber baits. Personally, I'm okay with that. The people who made the brand great when it was an independent company are gone. IMO PRADCO honors people like Cotton Cordell by keeping the lures they developed alive and available to anglers that love them. Thank you PRADCO for not exploiting these brands by introducing Bomber fishing line. This is what's been happening to the Strike King brand since Rather Outdoors bought the company and shut it down. Most of the people trying to "set this fishing world on fire" are trying to do so through clever marketing.- Bomber…….thing of the past? Bass fishing?
I think it's safe to say that 90% of all fishing lure sales are purchased because anglers are hoping to buy something that is better than what they currently have. We rarely buy lures to replace what is lost or worn out. I personally love what Lurenet is doing. They sell lures that I've been using for decades and those lures haven't changed in decades. They don't change them and try to convince us that we need to buy the new version because they're better. We're bombarded with adds telling us that company X has found the latest new thing that will change fishing forever. That special new thing is almost never any better than something that has stood the test of time. I don't buy a lot from Lurenet because I already have a good supply of their lures but it's good to know I can replace my old favorites when I need to. They're also reasonably priced because they're not spending a fortune on marketing. That's just my humble opinion.- Unk
Or below Wheeler dam. Fish around rocks when they are generating. Use smaller baits known to catch smallmouth. Current is important.- A Fond Fairwell to Stren Magnathin
I’ve used Magnathin a lot over the years. I believe Super Nature is identical to it. I can’t prove it.- ESPN bracket challenge

Calipari just bought a house in Nashville. He may be looking to make a move to Vanderbilt. ? https://www.williamsonhomepage.com/brentwood/calipari-buys-nashville-home/article_a2a99c66-6bc7-5a4f-813f-0903d35eb796.html- Would year-round daylight savings affect your fishing??
I’m gonna try switching to Greenwich Mean Time to see if it helps my fishing. I’ll let you know how it goes. ?- Tracker Marine Lithium Battery
I saw a story on TV many years ago about this huge salt flat in Chile that is full of Lithium. It was interesting. Apparently Chile has a lot of Lithium. https://www.usgs.gov/media/before-after/lithium-mining-salar-de-atacama-chile- Tracker Marine Lithium Battery
I didn’t know that. Very interesting and surprising.- ESPN bracket challenge
Well I only picked Kentucky to win two more games on my bracket so their loss actually helps my cause. To be honest, the random generator did my picking except for the winning team. I know nothing about basketball.- Tracker Marine Lithium Battery
There are countless companies selling essentially the same LiFePO4 batteries. I expect most of them will be gone in a few years making their warranties worthless. I would expect BPS to honor the warranty even if the company that made the battery is out of business. That’s the only advantage I would see to buying from BPS. I’m sure you could get the same quality battery for a lot less. The question is are you a gambler? - Those nasty ticks.
