  1. I already ordered it. I need to start playing with stuff to find out if I like them or not. I’ll find out in the spring.
  2. Looking at the line and lure rating along with the 4.5 power rating. I was thinking like medium + lol. And I’m good with that.
  3. Sounds like he should be very happy with it. Can’t wait till my grand son is old/big enough for big boy gear.
  4. Anyone use them. I’ve been checking them out for a little while now and decided to order one on sale at tw. It’s backordered so I don’t know when I’ll get it, but didn’t want to pass up that price. Realistically as long as it’s here by April is fine. Almost all of the reviews and videos have been positive, so I’m pretty excited about it. I think the only real negative reviews I e read are people comparing it to much higher priced rods. Anyway looking forward to hearing any of your thoughts on it.
  5. Great fish man
  6. Great paint job
  7. Great info guys thank you. Gonna have to think how to st him up. I’ll probably give him his new stuff for Easter, so I have some time. Right now he’s 6 years old, not quite ready for a spinning real yet and he’s only 3’7” tall so he’s a little guy. I really just need a half decent small spincast reel and the right size rod for him. He gets frustrated because he can’t cast far like us, but he can’t handle much of a rod yet either. I’m hoping to make fishing a little more exciting until he gets to the point we’re he’s old enough and big enough for a decent spinning setup that will give him a variety of options. I still remember when my father gave me my first decent 5’6” spinning set up, it was like a whole new world of fishing opened up to me. It was a ugly stick and I Sure was proud of it, and I caught a ton of fish on it until I was old enough to buy my own stuff.
  8. Thanks for all the info guys. I’m sure he’ll have allot of fun doing this. Good thing is he can catch all kids of stuff including all the little 5/6” bass swimming around also.
  9. I was thinking I could set my grandson up next spring using the smaller crappie lures to make catching the sunfish a little more interesting for him. He gets to impatient fishing for bass with soft plastics. He gets bored with a worm and bobber also. Sunfish are everywhere he can reach to cast and they are so aggressive, I think I might give this a shot. I’m trying to keep him interested until he gets out of the six year old impatient stage. Small spinners would probably work also. Would love to hear any thoughts.
  10. I figured that’s probably gonna be what happens.
  11. Is there such a thing. Or is there something anyone uses to check water temps from the bank. Would be cool to check water temps in the range and depths I can reach.
  12. I’ve done both, In the bag I’m sure is better for the baits. I got tired of pulling the bags out looking for the one I wanted. Now there in Plano 3600 boxes. It works fine, but now I have four 3600’s full of plastics in my backpack. I think you just have to come up with a organized way that works for you. I’m still working on a way to have enough of what I want but not bring to much of everything with me.

That is some pretty sexy stuff. I’m so glad your not my next store neighbor.
  14. Because no matter how serious when we catch a fish we still feel like this.
  15. I’m gonna try for a few hours Each day. I’ve been going faithfully every day for a hour or two since Saturday, not so much as a bite. This year threatens ice much earlier then usual, so my days are numbered. Atleast I’m forcing myself to learn how to slow down certain presentations.
  16. I e seen it ounce when I was a kid, it was a much bigger size difference. That’s crazy.

Great fish man. But according to my old scale it should only way 2-3/4 pounds lol.
  19. That’s a nice one
  20. Not to hijack the thread but my old boss used to do that. We would shovel out jobsites for a couple winters, and when they were wore down to nubs he would return them for new ones. It used to drive me crazy.

It rained on Sunday and Monday. Along with 40+ degrees mine is probably back to open water now. Looks like I’ll get a few more chances.
  22. You win.
  23. Those are almost the exact conditions of my favorite pond, except the pads are reeds and tall grass. Weightless t rigged plastics have been the key when the topwater bite is off. Really far casts with a good fish can be a nightmare to get through all of it at times. A good pair of glasses on a calm day and you can spot the holes in it (this was key to know we’re they were). Also early in the season there are almost trails running through it that were another great spot to drag through. Weightless senco s and heavier flukes are definitely the way to go.
