  1. that's what i like to hear!
  2. it's a tiller steer. i'm fully capable of starting a manual outboard lol, i'm just looking for some opinions on advantages or disadvantages for either. thanks for your input though on not biased either way, just looking for some outside opinions. i am more than capable to start a boat with a pully, or motorcycle with a kick start, since i've been doing so since i was 7 years old. oh and i'm not on your lawn, i'm on your pond ?
  3. Is spending an extra $400 for an electric starting outboard over the manual pull start worth doing for a 15hp outboard? I'm looking to build a nice little 15' jon boat rig for smaller lakes and rivers around my area. Thoughts?
  4. Just the info I'm looking for, thanks dude!

welcome! i'm fairly new to bass resource and it's been great since joining. so much information and content to learn and engage in!
  6. I try to be diverse with utilizing many different techniques. A few I am for sure not very confident with. My confidence "styles" are finesse fishing shallower water up to 10ft, flipping grass with creature baits, and power fishing with chatterbaits/swimbaits. This year I want to focus more on jigs, crankbaits, and dropshotting in deeper water
  7. That is what my thought's and main concerns were. Since I am a co-angler tournament fisherman, I'm trying not to carry 7 rods with me with two separate crankbait rods. Thanks for the info, very helpful!
  8. I'm looking to pickup a new crankbait stick for this upcoming season. I current have an Enigma 7'2 MH. It feels kinda flimsy and I do not feel confident throwing heavier crankbaits on it. Almost all of my other rods are Dobyns which i absolutely love. Does anyone have any experience with their 7' MH crankbait rod? Is it long enough to bomb some decent weighted baits out far? I know it's rated for 1/4-1oz and I just want to be comfortable fishing lighter baits AND pushing the rod to it's highest rating. From squarebills to deep divers like a 6XD.
  9. 150% because of the sponsorship deals that other companies give. Do you think Scott Martin wanted switch to Favorite Rods because he thought they were the best rod's on the market? They are cutting that guy a HUGE check because they know how big his youtube channel is and how popular of an angler he is.
  10. all comes down to personal preference. i reel left with my left hand and work the rod with my right. i don’t see any clear advantage to using either or

Yeah I figured the local level will probably be fine. I’m not going to do all of the local division tourneys, probably just my off weeks from my regular club. thanks for the insight
  12. I think the live weigh in is important. It's interaction with the sport and their fans. Professional anglers care about the well being of bass just as much as you, it is how they make their living after all. The mass amount of anglers who switched to MLF didn't do it because of the format, I can tell you that much lol.
  13. I understand that aspect of it and I am all for conservation of the species we all love. I still think the 5 bass limit prevails. You can still do catch, weigh, and release with the standard 5 bass bag rules. But also as a fan of the PRO competitive sport, going to a Bassmaster event is exciting to see the live weigh in. MLF is just one of few organizations that uses the catch, weigh, and release out of the thousands of tournaments that happen yearly, professional or amatuer.

I already fish BASS Nation tournaments with my local club, so I understand the challenge of fishing successfully against your boater. No matter what the situation, the front deck usually has the advantage. I particularly want to fish them to compete, and also gain even more tournament experience aside from my local BASS Nation club. Since they are open event's, I don't want to get back-boated by some entitled ****** and waste my day/money
  15. awesome thanks man, definitely something i'm going to be using this year
  16. Anyone here have experience fishing the ABA tournaments (preferably as a co-angler)? I'm looking to fish ABA tournaments on my off weeks from regular club tournaments this upcoming year. If you have fished them, what are your thoughts? Worth the $75 entree fee? Let me know!
  17. 5" stick baits (senko, yum dinger, etc) texas rigged or wacky rigged Chatterbait is great alternative to a spinner bait and foolproof to fish whopper plopper 110 worth every penny and will build your topwater confidence 3-4" swimbaits on a swimbait jighead or weighted EWG swimbait hook
  18. Welcome to BR. Ton's of info on here, you'll love it!
  19. Welcome!
  20. what weight are you throwing? obviously depends on depth but what is your go-to?
  21. I had winn grips on a lews tp-1 speed stick and i loved them
  22. I see them around, but I haven't heard much about the Denali rods, what are your thoughts on them?
  23. I'm still so up in the air about the format. I feel like the standard 5 bass limit format is so superior MLF's format. They also have a bunch of weird rules like penalties if a fish touches the deck of your boat. Having a hard time jumping on board with MLF right now.
